The Hôtel de la Marine - opened to the general public since June 2021 - is an iconic monument on Place de la Concorde and a fine architectural ensemble that Ange-Jacques Gabriel, the king’s chief architect, made in the 18th century. Until 1798, it housed the Garde-Meuble de la Couronne, before becoming the headquarters of France’s navy ministry for over 200 years.
From autumn 2021 works of art from The Al Thani Collection will be shown at a dedicated museum space at the Hôtel de la Marine. The Al Thani Collection contains an exceptional array of artworks spanning the ancient world to the present day. Encyclopaedic in its approach, and representing a diverse range of cultures and civilisations, this extraordinary collection celebrates creativity and the universal power of art through the ages. Exhibitions have been held at major institutions around the world: recent venues include The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (2014-15); Victoria and Albert Museum, London (2015-16); Miho Museum, Koka (2016); Palace Museum, Beijing (2017); Grand Palais, Paris (2017); Doge’s Palace, Venice (2017-18); Château de Fontainebleau (2018); Legion of Honor, San Francisco (2018); Tokyo National Museum (2019); and State Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg (2020).
When France's navy ministry left the building in 2015, responsibility for the Hôtel de la Marine was given to the Centre des monuments nationaux. The CMN was in charge of promoting this outstanding piece of cultural heritage, so it oversaw large-scale restoration of the entire monument from 2017 to 2020.
Its architecture, painted decor, furniture and artworks from the 18th and 19th centuries present to the public the close relationship between decorative arts, the art of hosting, craftsmanship, French excellence and the expression of power. Since 2017, restoration campaigns have brought true marvels to light, with the rediscovery of the original decor of the Intendant’s apartments as they were at the end of the 18th century.
You now can visit this unique monument in the heart of Paris and discover its refurbished 18th-century apartments, its stately reception rooms and its restaurant in a building that the Centre des monuments nationaux has fully restored.

Beautiful, but please don't compare it to Versailles. And following you through corridors ,doesn't do the Hotel any justice. The Viewers are Intelligent and Well traveled people.Zooming on a small fragment...is very primitive.
