    Finishing up my senior semester of college. I major in human development and family services but I’m applying to an MSW program. I’m a 22 year old black male and would love some advice! I’ll add you on LinkedIn as well!

    I'm starting my MSW program next month! I'm excited but nervous because I will also be working full time and am a single mom.

      My daughter is 1 and I am a single mom. I work full time as well and graduate with my bachelors in December. I want to get my masters but I am so nervous that it will be too much for me. How is it for you?

      @@princessabecca2855 So far so good! I've been spending most of my evenings after work on schoolwork . I always try to have a bit of downtime every evening for relaxing. And Sundays are for self care and family time.

      Lemons19902010 are you going to school online? When do you work? Sorry I’m being invasive. I don’t know how I will be able to get any time with her. I work 4p-12a

      @@princessabecca2855 That's ok, I don't mind the questions. I'm studying my MSW online through the University of Oklahoma. I work Monday-Friday from 7:30am to 3:30pm. You should look into an online program. I think it's easier to work full time and go to school full time, especially when you're a single parent and don't want to take any extra time away from your child.

    I have a question what AP CLASSES should u take in highschool if u want to be a social worker. Should I take ap psychology or wait until college?

    • @DonzellLampkins
      @DonzellLampkins  Před 5 lety +5

      Riana Grace AP Psychology is a good start. Social work is interdisciplinary so if you have a chance to take things like AP US History, AP Law, or AP Government or even an anatomy and physiology or biology course would be helpful.

    I have experience and now a MASTERS DEGREE in SOCIAL WORK, but they will not hire a Black man. I'm frustrated. Any suggestions?

      Donzell Lampkins thank you. I have 20 years in social services and just finished MSW PROGRAM..waiting for my numbers they provide. All my Interviews are with a panel of all women and it seems they are bias. I'm nor sure, but my confidence is low and I thought the MSW DEGREE would open doors.

      Think about moving, especially out of CA. I’m in the state and will be leaving for the MSW program and don’t plan to return because the job in other states are much better

      Hello! I am just seeing your comment. Are you currently enrolled? I can't say how good it is, but I can say that the main thing you should look for in a program is that its CSWE accredited.
