Surface-to-air missile (SAM) is a missile designed to be launched from the ground to destroy aircraft or other missiles.
The C-RAM/Phalanx CIWS (Counter-Rocket Artillery Mortar) system and CIWS (Close In Weapon System) use a 20mm gatling cannon to destroy incoming targets.

After awhile I'm like damn man those are a lot of bullets they have an impossible number to ever make, that's not right Jesus (staring in aww of the nonstop continuous fire). And it seemed too calm of an evening or night and I'm thinking where even is this? And then I realized.

The C-RAM is easy to evade in a jet, C-Ram is used to take blow up explosives before they hit the ground. The only thing he is gonna struggle with are those Sams.
@@Draagenn ehhh...yes and no. A c-ram can track and destroy missiles at much higher speeds than an attack run in a fighter. The fighter can maneuver more but one or two hits would be plenty to send a bird back home at the very least. It scored a LOT of hits on the aircraft...several of which would have put 20x120mm explosive rounds right through the canopy.
@@94XJ but you are missing the major fact that C-RAMS rounds burn out over 2000 meters, either on impact on the missile, or through tracer burnout. All the jet has to do is keep a distance of 2km, so considering the fact that jets can target up to a potential range of (depending on the aircraft and ammo type) 160km, i am 100% sure that no trained jet pilot would have any problem with a cram.
The stream of bullets especially at night look so beautiful, it's one of the best things about this thing. Truly my favorite Military Weapon System of this decade.

Every time the fighter gets hit we can see it light up from ricochets and it seems to have unlimited flares and supreme armor..
I didn't notice the ricochets, that's so cool.
I know the Arma engine has always been sort of lackluster, but the engine really has some penitential to render some beautiful scenes.
Amazing when you think of all the math that went into those machines

1 irl planes don’t just eat bullets and live.
Second idk what the missiles were doing. They did everything but proxy (flares wouldn’t have made a difference)
Third this game only includes acceleration when it comes to calculating lead. Irl they start to use jerk which allows the ciws to hit targets that are turning.
4th jets dont turn like that period.
What's that spectator camera style you have in this video? I see it a lot in other ArmA 3 videos and I'm wondering what in-game tool it is that allows you to get those kinds of spectator shots and move the camera around with no HUD.

That Plane has Infinite Live, he got hit for at least 50x with a 20 mm Gatling Gun.... yet its still Flying

Completely unrealistic. These guns are radar controlled -this scene loosk like a kid spraying a water hose at a wasp. These guns were developed to shoot down high speed missiles -shooting slow flying jets like here is a piece of cake. Also, in reality, if a jet makes a combat run, that jet is hauling ass -like 500+ miles per hour and they are only over or near the target for mere seconds. They do NOT fly around lazily like this demo, offering themselves up as a target. Lastly FLARES are only good for heat seeking missiles -not radar, you use chaff or electronic counter measures for radar controlled missiles or guns. The US and I suspect other modern countries have counter-radar missiles that, when fired will follow the radar signal down to the target and take it out. That's what the Phantom Wild weasels did in the 91 gulf war. Basically, turn on your fire control radar and kiss your ass goodbye.These guns shoot 20 or 30mm projectiles -it only takes a very few hits, if not one to take a jet down but this demo makes it look like the jets are taking multiple hits.
the effective range of CIWS or C-RAMS in modern day is still only 5 miles, you are right, they are meant for shooting missiles. But this is why they are wildy uneffective for a jet fighter. Simply get into the bare minimum of the CIWS range, then back off and destroy it.
It is true that they are shooting 30mm projectiles, but i think even a helicopter with dumb bombs could destroy it.
