    Oh my gosh Matt, this video is terrific. Love the humor and your skill I always appreciate. Those nasal labial folds come with age but give such character to a face. You’re the plastic surgeon of wooden faces

    Thank you. This type of tutorial on specifics, without covering the whole face, in this case, is most helpful to someone like me who is a beginner. Appreciate

    That solves a problem for me, I've been making the upper lip to flat under the full width of the nose. Now I see I need to round it more. Thanks for the tip on the nose. (Pun intended)

    I don't really have any productive criticism I like all your videos. Keep doing what you're doing in making great videos and if I had a criticism it's not directed at you, but it would be for the carving community to make videos longer and stop making these shorts as they're called. In my opinion it doesn't teach you any but to say look what I can do and doesn't help people learn. Again keep up the great work!!! ✌️♥️😀

    • @MattCarves
      @MattCarves  Před rokem

      Cheers Larry. yeah I try to make shorts to attract new subs, as youtube shows them to more people. I hear what your saying though and I am thinking on making longer videos. Its a pretty small niche thus the people that watch videos on dremel carving tend to want to learn as opposed to want entertainment only. Happy carving Larry 👍

    Mean nose Matt, you've come a long way in the last few year's. I've still gotta practice my faces... funny how I can't do faces that good but I can carve animals lol

      @MattCarves  Před rokem

      Cheers Mark. actually I havent really done any animals come to think of it. Funny being in NZ we dont have a lot of mammals to carve like bears etc.

    For as many human faces that I've carved, I had trouble when I tried to carve a baby Groot face and head. I was trying to make a cartoonish figurine, and I had to give up several times because I just couldn't figure out what to do.

    • @MattCarves
      @MattCarves  Před rokem +1

      Yeah, William, I know what you mean. I reckon that baby groot would be hard to make it look like wood. Good luck 👍

    Howdy Mr. Matt.
    I am in the process of carving my 2nd carving while having YT running in the background. I believe I just earned my first "battle scar"....Was using a carving bit (basically 3 knives wrapped around a cylinder)...it's not a grinder and a burr, it's a knife really. Goes into my Dremel for fine point outlining. Went to wipe the dust away and wiped my finger right into the tip of the cutter. It bled, but mehhh. Went in and slapped a band-aid on it and got back to work.
    Anyways...I'm curious what these types of carvings are called?
    I watch Eric Rohten: Make a Wood Sign.....He's great, but he doesn't do "detail" as it were.
    What you do, Jordy. Mike Stinnet and that dude at Cabin on the Lake....What are "these" carvings called? It's not a sign or a plaque. What is it?
    I'm currently doing a carving of a mushroom house with some fairies "in love". It's on a flat board, but I'm doing uncutting and depth etc. I guess, kinda for lack of a better word, it's 3D carving....but is on a flat board. What is this type of carving called?

    • @MattCarves
      @MattCarves  Před rokem

      Hi Mike. Yeah those rotating burrs sting. I reckon those carvings you are describing are called relief carvings. Cheers for watching 👍

    Hello . I follow your works, you are really admirable. I had a question about the bit, do you think I should buy Dremel brand or katzall?

    • @MattCarves
      @MattCarves  Před rokem

      Kutzall is probably a better choice overall. But I tend to have a mix, as Kutzall don't make cutter burrs. Thankyou for watching the channel 🙂
