For this list, we found celebrities who spoke at least four different languages, and ranked them based on how many languages they know and how well they know them.

My favourites were Jodie Foster, Shakira surprised the heck out of me speaking perfect Brazilian Portuguese. Vigo Mortesen is amazing! And surely Christopher Lee was a legendary poliglot!
Jodie Foster’s French knocks me out. She should do an entire film in that language.
She has done several films in french.
she went to college in france, she learnt the language when she was a child along with spanish n talian. she did speak some france words in some of her films.

After seeing this, I would of have thought Audrey would be the top one but Christopher Lee is pretty impressive with all those languages.
Roger Federer, of course, speaks his native tongue: Schwiizerdütsch. Similar to German, but different.
And you guys didn’t mention Shakira speaks Catalán as well.. 😬 my fav is Viggo

Very nice overview and nice to see some unexpected polyglots! However, singing in a language or reading a few lines from a paper does not qualify as speaking a language.......
I don’t know what Tom Hiddleston was speaking after Spanish, but I can assure you that wasn’t Greek haha
It was ancient Greek with Erasmian pronunciation I think. Still pretty impressive, as most Greek American celebrities like Jennifer Aniston do not speak any Greek at all.
I don't know abt giving the top spot to C Lee... he didn't seem all that fluent in some of those langs. I was most impressed with Audrey Hepburn. She seemed to have a deep understanding of, and skill in 5 langs, and she was prob conversational in a 6th. That's impressive.

Novak Djokovic speaks Serbian/Croatian, English, Italian, French, conversational German & Spanish and very basic Mandarin & Russian. He's a real polyglot if I've ever seen one.

I really like this three levels language classification system. It seems clearer and simpler to me than the more popular CEFR system. Anyone agrees or disagrees or maybe has an opinion on another language classification system altogether?
Viggo Mortensen is Argentinian so that's why his Spanish is fluently and at Argentina, people speaks Italian too like a second language..
I was living there as a child and for some schools there, we have English, French, Italian and Portuguese classes at school.
No, he´s Danish/American, not Argentinian. He only lived in Argentina as a child, as well as in Venezuela and Denmark.
It's true we are pretty close to italian culture but we don't speak italian as a second language in Argentina, it is often taught in schools together with french and english I would rather say. With school classes I don't think it is enough to have Viggo Mortensen language skills btw

@@vervideosgiros1156 I opposed to the sentence "He´s argentinian", bc he isn´t. He is danish/american who happened to live a few years in Argentina as a child. I opposed his nationality, not his language.
@@eden19966 OK, I thought that you're saying that he didn't speak Spanish well because he just lived there when he was a kid. Many monolingual people think it's easier to learn a language as an adult, but it's quite the opposite!

Correction: Viggo wasn't speaking Norwegian, he was speaking Danish. Scandinavians understand each other because their languages are so closely related and similar.
Christopher Lee probably speaks Quenya as well and maybe Black Speech
Viggo Morthensens "norwegian" is DANISH (again), not norwegian. My birth country and mother tongue is swedish, but I speak all scandinavian languages fluently, including Icelandic, so I know for sure.

I heard Christopher Lee speaking Czech also and I think Roger Federer speaks Italian too, and also probably knows some Slovak words because of his wife
What I noticed is that, all of them know how to speak FRENCH or GERMAN.
And I've been studying french for a few months now, I guess choosing french is not a bad choice at all. lol

German operatic tenor Jonas Kaufmann (German, French, Italian, and...?). Hungarian pianist Andras Schiff (Hungarian, German, French, Italian, English, some Japanese). The late great Polish pianist Arthur Rubinstein (heaven only knows what language he did not speak!).

I really like Tom Hiddleston but that wasn't greek. It was an effort to recite an ancient Greek text but with an English accent. And unfortunately not a successful effort. I have never heard a foreign person speaking Greek successfully and I can't understand why. Every time I hear someone from a foreign country speaking Greek it's like I hear a bizzarre language.
I can speak Greek fluently, when I am in Greece people ask me if I am from Crete, where I learned it. Can also speak Russian, Italian ,Spanish, German, Not to bad Japanese, Arabic basic Polish, Slovak, Turkish and now I leave in Taiwan so learning Mandarin I also learn Tagalog and as I am French I also speak French.
Dalida and Nana Mouskuri sang in 10-11 languages. Mireille Matthieu is not far away.

They are all Americans of EUropean descent. Next time, put a few Asian American celebs as well. America is a melting pot and there is diversity in American people. Asian Americans aren't foreign in the US. If they are, so are these celebs shown in the video. We are all immigrants anyway.
