Saw their show two days later in SLC. Ronny joked about how bad it would be to be "snowed-in" and isolated in Salt Lake City, and about how fickle the weather is here - like Holland. Seems a nice bloke as to his bandmates. Cheers C.O.X.

His favorite joke to tell when he does shows here in San Francisco, is how much our city smells like Amsterdam.

What he said to you at the end is exactly what teachers would say to us as kids if we dare brought our walkmans to school. Yeah, I know... I just dated myself. LOL
Of course he can't legally take your property from you. The most he can do ask you to stop, and then alert a security person if you didn't. And the most the venue could do then is eject you for filming. Nice of him to give you his guitar pick after the show. And probably because you were cool about it and didn't put up a fight.
Not like me, who probably should have been a lawyer. At least, that's what my parents thought I would become since I argued with them so much. LOL
My guess is that he probably thought you were live streaming. Because people have their phones out taking pictures and recording all the time at those shows.
There actually is a video here on CZcams from a couple of years ago where Curse Mackey was doing a live show n St. Louis, and and he made the guy stop recording.

Curse Mackey's set made me think I could record Xymox bc there were two people of front with go pros filming his whole set and he was like grabbing them and singing into them from onstage 😅

@@TheDistressedSetlist So obviously the venue had no problem if Curse was cool with it.
This is actually the first instance I am aware of where Ronny had an issue with a fan filming.
It's not like the footage turns out all that great, and makes anyone else any money. How well the sound is captured depends largely on the acoustics of the venue itself, and visually.... Consumer grade digital cameras -- especially cell phone cameras which are low res -- and LED lights don't mix well.
And once it is uploaded to CZcams, it all gets compressed even further.

@@ZetaReticuli_ I also have an external mic to get better sound than most any phone could capture.... But it does depend a lot in band's live mixed and venue acoustics/Soundsystems

@@TheDistressedSetlist Hmm... That might be what attracted Ronny's attention to you. Like you weren't just doing any old recording, but something semi-professional.
Because yours is the only video I have come across where an audience member was filming a show and asked to stop.

@@ZetaReticuli_ On 3/2/23 in Columbus, OH (the first city for that leg of their tour), Ronny kindly asked audience members to put away their phones so that they could watch the show. The logic from his additional comments was that you paid to SEE a live show and it shouldn't be through a camera. What preceded this was someone filming right under his microphone. I also saw COX in Columbus in 2019, at a different venue...and filming was not an issue.
