    Just a comment on the title of the video. I HATE when people label a shark as “blood thirsty” or use that phrase in anyway referring to a shark. We have to be more responsible when labeling. Sharks are still being hunted for their fins and we need to make them less scary and more important as a needed predator in the oceans. They’re just doing what comes natural and as apex predators they help keep the ocean sea life healthy and in check.

    • @peanutbutter2908
      @peanutbutter2908 Před 5 lety +6

      actually it is untrue that sharks can smell blood miles away. although they have an acute sense of smell, and it is possible for them the smell your blood, it isn’t likely that they’re going to smell it miles away. it depends on the shark, but we measure it by one drop per million. for example, the lemon shark can smell one part per 25 million, which is equivalent to 10 drops in an average sized home swimming pool. the shark would have to be nearby (within a couple hundred meters) and many factors would have to be incorporated. the current of the water and the other chemicals the shark is smelling are two of them. if the shark is mating, it can smell up to miles and miles of pheromones produced by a female shark, but sharks cannot do that with blood especially if the current is flowing the opposite direction. therefore, they aren’t blood thirsty

      Granted their return to the eastern coast is minorly dangerous for Us people Because of said individuals because a shark can become easily worked up because of their nerves sensing the activity in the water which these nerves are Super Charged compared to ours so you can imagine what that feels like to them if we're discouraged by loud noises, it's 5 times that for them. It's just a shame there's so many uneducated morons trying to throw their two cents in without proper research

      Leviathans Terrible Gaming its nothing to do with uneducated. It’s that there’s people enjoying the beaches, surfers, kayakers-swimmers even boaters where a man over board can result in death.
      It doesn’t matter if it’s 1 million to one odds.
      If a person falls off their hobbit cat sailboat those odds are exponentially not in his favor. Again, these are your smaller reef sharks not white or black tip sharks but white sharks.
      A exploratory bite can be fatal. Or get mauled by a shark, loose an arm or a leg, bleed out to death isn’t nearly as fun as it sounds in person.
      Maybe we should use any type of deterrent. Nets, heard of something that emits Sound frequency that sharks dislike.
      Besides simply telling humans to stay out of the water isn’t great either.

    It s not a problem at all once you realize , they don t have legs, or feet.
    They are restricted to the water.
    See my point. Stay dry , stay safe.
    It s worked for me for years.

    but for real, a much lesser welcomed Visitor? First, they are not "visiting" they live here. and for one, I am so happy to see the return of Great White numbers!! They don't attack people on purpose, but they DO keep our oceans clean so we still have a place to enjoy like this in the summertime. Thank you sharks!!!

    It is very sad that a channel like discovery make comments that incites such negative shark fear in such a negative way. Without the sharks maybe 20 to 40 species will in the end be extinct.
