- So, day one of classic mini ownership was pretty much the same as every other classic I've owned! It broke down! So here we go again. Join me as I attempt to figure out exactly what's going on with Martin the mini and how we get him back up and running.

...and definitely a road trip....it is amazing how much you can actually fit in the boot!
They are great fun! I had a misfire on No3, kind of like the engine stopped for a beat. Changed the plugs and leads around and it still did it, got a new cap and rotor arm...no joy. Then with it running I noticed a spark across the coil from one of the wires to the HT lead. Basically the coil was covered in muck and it was shorting out. Cleaned it up and away we went.
I just had exactly the same thing!
You need to carry a can of WD40 in a classic mini, whenever it's wet you'll probably need to give the distributor a good spray and it should start.
Lovely little car, great colour, stance is just right and you can improve it further to your taste as you go. Am 70 this year and my second car was a 64 850 Mini. Loved that car and wish I still had it. Did camping trips all over the UK and apart from minor issues that could be fixed at the roadside it never let me down. Am sure you’ll have just as much fun in yours as I did in mine 👍
Thanks Ian. Well I've driven about twenty miles in it and it's had some rather bad engine failure. Going to need a new crank shaft. Should hopefully get a video to this week!

A Series, fitted to the Mini, Metro, Morris Minor MG Midget/Healey Sprite. Lots of tuning and standard parts about for it.
Need to look into this. Definitely want to play around with some mods.

There are 2 main earths. It’s a ‘A series’ engine or an ‘A+ series’ engine it the 90’s engine.
Yea we re did alot of the wiring and also figured out it's an A Series. Getting some parts ordered from classic mini spares down in Warrington. Thinking of going for a lightened fly wheel as it's out and knackered to. 🤔
I don’t know about lightened flywheels, I like everything stock. Shop around, FYI you can get 7.5% off Minispares if you join ‘the mini forum’ and tell Minispares (not the Warrington one)
