I feel like the studio made them add some eye candy and out of spite the writers made her one of the best characters on the show.
How is that “spite”?
@avengemybreath3084 because In this imaginary scenario the writers don't like being told what to add.
Well they nailed it. What an actress, she certainly does not get enough credit. Playing all the characters with the multiple personality episode... she did an excellent Ferengi. And she nailed playing the Doctor. Very good acting range. Her physical appearance certainly didn't hurt but she would've been an excellent addition regardless.
"Why potatoes?"
"Their first idea was to clone Naomi"
That was both dark and hilarious at the same time. XD
I know. Love that line.
Naomi has fans.
if someone tried to clone me I think my eyes would be jumping out of there sockets as I would be looking for the nearest exit.
A pal and I used to go to a Dublin pub that had a vaguely Seven-ish character behind the counter. When she got to know us, she'd hold up two fingers to ascertain if it was going to be the regular order - two pints of Guinness - so my pal affectionately nicknamed her One of Two.
Guinness you say. ? 💖👉😶💖🙏
Has that ever caught any English spies resulting in a bloody gunbattle?
You the one who keep turning me off

The Irish probably understand "irony" better than anyone.
Except probably us Aussies...
It's a pity that anyone that hasn't watched the show wouldn't believe that you're so into her, not (only) because of her stunning bodysuits and figure, but because of her amazing nuance, heart, wit and the actress' acting. Jeri Ryan is a treasure!
Agreed. Resistance is futile on so many levels
It's because of those huge jugs that we love her so much ❤
I honestly always hated the body suit. I thought she looked so much better in a starfleet uniform.
I love this character. She's like derogatory, grumpy Data in reverse. A machine who _didn't_ want her humanity or her emotions, but got them anyway.
Excellent points!
I would have very much enjoyed the interaction between Seven and Data!
Such a shame the creator's didn't make it happen...
"The borg wouldn't know fun if they assimilated an amusement park' LOL best comeback Torres had.
operations1000 That's not saying much.
@@austinboylan5476Warning Warp Core breach a lot sooner then you think lol
na-ah, the best comeback was "Then study this - Borg provokes Klingon, Klingon breaks Borg nose".. "Call sick bay tell them there´s about to be a medical emergency"
operations1000 : It's encouraging at least to know they still exist in the future seeing how television didn't survive.
yeah, I think VULCANS would have more fun in an amusement park.
Seven was one of the first fictional humans I ever had a serious crush on and one of the main reasons I continued watching voyager. I found her also genuinely likeable, her dry sense of humour amusing and her whole countenance very aesthetically pleasing. Not to mention her voice is sublime.
Man you even speak like her?
Even with the added boobage the show was still so borin....ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

My favourite line is when the "unemotional" Seven snaps, "Remove your hand, or I will remove your arm!" in "Someone To Watch Over Me", which is one of my favourite episodes.
Seven and the Doctor singing the Klingon drinking song...PHENOMENAL!!!! Both have awesome singing voices!!!🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵
then you should listen to them sing You are My Sunshine.
"Warning: Warp core breach a lot sooner than you think." When this aired I actually fell on the floor. lol
Jeri Ryan has a lovely singing voice. And still as beautiful as ever.
Seven-Of-Nine was truly one of the best Star Trek characters ever! She gave Voyager the Spock-type character it desperately needed. Tuvak never quite did it. And the Doctor provided the perfect foil to further enhance Seven, much like Bones enhanced Spock. The show might have been way more widely accepted if these two characters had been there from the start.
TO: Tom Donnelly
RE: ". . . She [Seven of Nine] gave Voyager the Spock-type character it desperately needed. Tuvak never quite did it. . . ."
That's because the Tuvok character was never as well developed as was the Spock character. The same could be said, as well, about the Lt. Uhura character in the original series.
Well...well said except that imo I like that she appeared when she did, as she was a breath of life which you explained & I fully agree. Also she was perfection of beauty, imo /;^)
Tuvak was very dry, even for a Vulcan. 180 degrees from Spock.
I think tuvok should have been written more like vorek...sharp wit..disciplined yet no so uptight..more laid back

My favourite line is when she meets Naomi for the first time.
"Naimi Wildman. Subunit of ensign Samantha Wildman..."
And then they became friends. I only wish they had more of Naomi in Star Trek Voyager.
utpawn love that too

One thing I love about 7 of 9 is that being Borg she was the last person on Voyager to crack under pressure and always kept her cool most of the time. I'd think if it wasn't for 7 and her calm confidence Voyager might never have gotten home. Most people would have considered her control of her emotions a flaw, but to Starfleet it is definitely what a starship needs. It's what makes Vulcans great assets to Starfleet as well.
"STAND ASIDE"
I'm bringing Seven to the next Comic-Con.
Or a theme park.

"The Borg wouldn't know fun if they assimilated an amusement park" :D
Seven is easily the most human character on the show, which is ironic. I love her. She's adorable.
*Adorableness is irrelevant*
That's cause most of the actors and actresses around her except Tim Russ were terrible for the most part. The cast of Voyager was not very talented.
I totally agree. Seven IS my favorite character on Voyager. I think they made her put on the skin-tight uniform for the sex appeal factor, but Jeri Ryan took what she was given and brought so much more to that character--complexity, dry humor, discovery and, yes, ultimately humanity. I found her completely likable (even when she was freshly liberated) and believable all throughout the stages of her growth as a human being. Watching her journey was one of the best things about Voyager.
Much better in Picard

Seven and the Doctor sing really nice together. Jeri Ryan must've been a terrific singer.
Proof that the Voyager crew was what made 7 herself: when Ransom abducted 7, she refused to cooperate with him, even when faced with destruction. She practically spat acid at him with her retorts (see "Your concern is irrelevant." and "I would prefer the brig"). Voyager was her collective now, and she was doing everything to get back with them
"The Borg wouldn't know fun if they assimilated an amusement park" LMAO
You can always rely on Seven to give you a cold hearted honest blunt opinion or assessment. You may not like her response but she’s dead on. You just gotta love her stoic deadpan delivery. My favorite Voyager character.
5:12 - "Warning: warp core breach a lot sooner than you think" did the computer develop a sense of humour? 🤣
I really like it whenever Seven and Tuvok having conversations.
Imagine Seven, Tuvok, Data, and Spock having a conversation!
Add Garak for the wild card factor (and DS9 love)

15 to 20% was sex appeal for ratings. but they wrote her characterization to be a real study human character and Jeri Ryan did a great job acting in some of those episodes. I just had a friend who was a big tng fan and kept going on about the only reason seven was written into the show was for sex and my response was "Have you actually ever watched the show?" tng fans think they know everything about voyager and clearly have only watched like one episode.
Although the comment is 8 years old I completely agree….7 of 9 and the Doctor are more of a mirror for human development than Data was in my
Opinion….I for myself have watched DS9, TNG and Voyager and belong to the small faction that actually enjoyed Voyager the most and still watch it to this day….especially after watching Picard and Discovery…..
@@Das_Kaenguru well in my Opinion Discovery is an excellent insight into an excellent Starfleet Officer,Burnam.Spocks sister FYI,Spocks character being a definition of Star Trek lore.Burnam in every instance has the skill and drive to achieve excellence in all things,a Vulcans definition of logic.Too much judgemental commentary on Discovery without any actual circumspectual insight would lead you to this conclusion. She lives the ideal in the series, the point of Sci fi,especially Star Trek.

This show was amazing. The character writing and development was unparalleled.
Seven of Nine and The Doctor, two best characters of Voyager.
The should have ended up together. I never understood them pushing her and Chakotay together.
SHOOKEN
Or Seven with Harry Kim. Even they had better Chemistry than Chakotay.
What about Tuvok?
@@randombrokeperson It's because by the end of the series Robert Beltran (Chakotay) had a surprising amount of creative sway by throwing temper tantrums. Well, in one of his tantrums he stated that he would leave the show if they didn't give him someone more "interesting" to interact with. Which was his way of saying he wanted romance scenes with Jeri Ryan.
@@TheBlarggle Wow. Well they should have let him go. He was a weak actor in my opinion, and the lack of chemistry plus abrupt introduction of Chakotay's "relationship" with Seven was almost glaring in how uncomfortable it was for me. Thanks for the info!!

I always wished there was more of a Borg Vs. Vulcan story line. Always loved when the arrogant Borg would get shot down by the logic and reason of Vulcan.
Seven and Tuvok were always a good pairing, wish they got more episodes together. They were/are good friends.

Watching Seven 'parent' gives me a feeling that on Vulcan she'd basically be Mary Poppins. I bet she could even engineer a bag containing a transporter buffer to store giant things, then make the children write a paper on it.
Just watched where 7 is inhabited by the doc, she's a damn good actor

You are correct, sir. When WWE (WWF at the time) Smackdown was made officially part of the fairly-new UPN (United Paramount Network) schedule, they ran a bit of a cross-promotion and had The Wrestler Not Yet Commonly Referred To As Dwayne Johnson (aka the Rock, and credited onscreen as the same) as an alien gladiator for the episode "Tsunkatse".

Seven of Nine by far have to be the best and most interesting character the Star Trek series has ever had. I dont think its even close. There was so many layers to her then jus her beauty and body.

Seven of Nine: The souffle has collapsed slightly but it's nutritional content is intact.
Haha good one.
Gordon then flies off the handle in tirade of F-bombs only to have Seven respond “Your pessimism is irrelevant, now STAND ASIDE!”
It was Deanna Troi who was put in the Next Generation for sex appeal. Seven was incredibly intelligent, had a great personality and didn't fall in love in every single episode, unlike Troi. And she was written very intelligently. She was the best character in Voyager, at least for me. Janeway came as the close second. Yes, she was very beautiful, but it's a good thing, right?
TO joanofarcadmirer
I really like the character Seven of Nine, especially the fact that she "didn't fall in love in every single episode." However, I do have one nit to pick. She's always saying that some is "irrelevant." Couldn't the screenwriters have come up with synonymous words, such as "inconsequential," "extraneous," "insignificant," or "inapropos"?

Synonymous words are irrelevant.
joanofarcadmirer
Sorry to say it but 7 of 9 shits all over Troi for sex appeal then and in quantum leaps today.
joanofarcadmirer For myself, i didn’t care much for her looks. I feel that because she was very pretty it helped get guys attention to listen to her. She was beauty and brains but admired for her worth ethics. I don’t think it really matters, the fact people point it out she’s hot or something says a lot about how the show needed something to get viewers.
I liked her character though. I felt her and Data could have been amazing friends! :D
Seven and B'elanna and Seven and Tuvok are classics. Tuvok doesn't even blink at not conversing with Seven for over half an hour on a cramped shuttle and isn't bothered by the fact at all when Seven points out the fact. B'elanna is constantly grumbling about Seven's lack of social skills, yet when there is trouble in Engineering nobody gets to work faster than the two of them, side by side. Also, poor Seven trying to teach other former Borg Drones how to become more when she's still working it out herself. You can understand why Janeway gave her the job, but I was always halfway impressed they didn't strangle each other...

Can't say I'm too happy about the outcome, though...
Seven was always my favorite of any Trek series.
Seven and the Dr. are still my two favorite characters of Voyager.
It's pretty bad when you have to learn how to understand emotions from a Vulcan
Well technically Vulcans have intense emotions and just learn how to control them because of how violent they are, so in fact they'd be quite suited to explain them.
This makes me want to watch the series again, for the 4th time.
4th?, i accomplished that feat in 1997. Who knows what number im on now.
"Warning: Warp Core Breach a lot soon than you think."

I've heard so many ppl. just say that Sevens character was on Voyager for the sex appeal, but she was one of my favorite characters. I enjoyed her story. A human being kidnapped as a child, transformed into a borg, and then brought back to humanity. Jeri Ryan acted it very well. All the sex appeal crap is futile.
Yeah she was on for sex appeal but also a very good character and great actor
@@fullanalysis93 She was perfection in so many ways
I wouldn't call it Completely futile.
I enjoyed how appealing she is physically. I never thought it limited her character arc. The fact she seems unconcerned by how attractive she is creates a tension, the elephant in the room. Men react around her but she seems unphased. It's a pleasant way to approach being sexy, indirectly as if it doesn't exist.
“Indirectly, as if it doesn’t exist.”
Meanwhile, 7 says “your pupils dilate while looking at me. Do you wish to copulate?”
Fantastic character. So glad they brought Seven back in Picard. If you haven’t seen that series, you need to.

Season 3 is definetly as good as the old shows.
I find her even better now that she has aged.
Season 3 definitely better.
My wife and I liked Seven of nine so much we even named two cats after her, seven and nine!
0:24 Even with a 'complete' one color suit, they still managed to subtly pull out her body shapes with slight variation in the cloth material, 'geniusly' crafted toward a rather quite specific goal I say ;)
This should be “Seven of Nine roasts everybody.”
For me the best star trek character ever 7 of 9 and she played the part so well
Even though her lines were dry when she insulted you, they were HILARIOUS.
If 7 told me "Prepare to be assimilated, resistance is futile" I wouldn't put up a fight❤️❤️❤️❤️
Yeah no. Not in the slightest. My mind would easily dump the word resist.
Nor would I say no to her asking “Then you wish to copulate?”
Anyone remember the story told multiple times on comic con?
„Any takers?“ 😂😂
I could so see her saying that on set
Jeri/'Seven' can say more by saying nothing, or the look of her eye, than many actors with a full script!

The episode was called Tsunkatse, it was somewhere in the middle of season 6, guest starred The Rock, it was a fun highlight of the season.
There is some great episodes in the first 3 seasons with Kes, but it really steps up a notch when Seven arrives in ‘Scorpion’. Great character.
I rewatched that series again not long ago and at first after a few episodes I was like “Where’s Seven?” Then remembered Kes existed beforehand
