Kerry deserves to be discussed with the likes of banks, wakeman, and others as the greatest prog rock keyboardists of the 70s. I especially love his extra English, folky, and baroque compositions
Truer words were never spoken. Gentle Giant were one in a "Zillion" and their unique style can never be copied. Last but not least: Kerry Minnear was not only a supreme keyboardist but the heart and soul of GG. A very happy birthday and many returns of the day, Mr. Minnear.
Oh not this damn underrated comment again ffs. HE WAS NOT UNDERRATED, neither was Tony Banks or Gary Green or whoever you feel like commenting on next with the underrated line. 🙈
@@johnsurrey7426 Friend, you do not need to put down anybody else in order to elevate somebody. Kerry is very good but his production is a fraction of Rick.
Thank you Kerry. If you totaled up all the hours of enjoyment that you've given your fans, it would add up to many lifetimes. Not many people can say that. I hope today you'll allow yourself some time to contemplate that fact and it makes you smile like the Giant. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Thank you for the inspiration since 1975, Berlin live, what a show, what a concert! Bought a piano next day, and never stopped playing ever since. Dear Kerry, thank you again, you are my star!
Kerry haver a great birthday for all years, you are a Grande musician ,you on Gentle Giant gave me incredible moments on my Youth, stiil hear GG many Times ,still makes me Happy.
The progressive scene gave us some of the best keyboardists such Emerson, Wakeman, Nocenzi ecc. but IMHO Minnear is a step above. Both from the performance point of view and as a composer.
"All that ... I might ... Years drift by .. never for me!" I don't think Kerry Minnear is plagued with such thoughts. He has done so much with his incredible plethora of talents. Thank you, thank you! And Happy Birthday! 🎂
Kerry, your melodic sensibility as a songwriter really inspires me. Thanks for the great music you brought to all of us. Cheers from a brazilian admirer
Happy Birthday Mr. Minnear. I saw GG at least 8 times live. Your multi instrumental compositions and arrangements were inspirational to aspiring musicians.
The compositional heart & brains of Gentle Giant's...a very sweet soul. I'm grateful to have meet him back stage at the Roxy at their very last show in 1980. Happy Birthday Kerry!!!
In total awe of the talent. Discovered GG about two years ago. A great many of my favorites are either sung or written by Kerry. Thanks for providing me much joy.
Happy Birthday Kerry. What a brilliant musician and composureyou have been over the years. One of the ultimate best that ever walked this earth. So talented and so underrated. I always loved watching you and the Giant perform live. Always a great show with brilliant multi instrumental performances. Best wishes with many more great birthdays to come.
Believe it or not Nik Kershaw turned me onto the music of Gentle Giant back in the 80s. Monstrously talented and deserving of greater recognition. Kerry is freakishly talented.
All the best, Kerry! I met you in Toronto at (the then very famous) Sam the Record Man shop (mid 70s). It was the day after GG had performed at Massey Hall - a great concert which I of course attended. There will never be another GG.
Kerry is the heart and soul of this magical band. So many unique and truly unforgettable melodies, and that beautiful fragile voice. Thank you Sir, for your fantastic music. Cheers to you and the whole band. Happy birthday
There’s so much to thank you for, so much sustained joy in my life listening to you. But special thanks for: Aspirations Your organ tone on “Timing” Your endless rhythmic permutations on clav during Green’s solo on So Sincere (on Playing The Foole) The little clav riff on “His Last Voyage” Every note of As Old As You’re Young, the greatest of all Giant tunes for me Experience, especially when you sang lead on it and played clav in the beginning The opening music you created for the 1976 tour. The bumper music you made for “Under Construction” Your voice on anything Your crazed harmonic sense (in a good way of course) I became a pro keyboard played 40 years ago (and still am) mostly because I wanted to be you. I am thrilled to see all your fans posting here, and I hope you understand just how much you mean to all of us. thank you Kerry, my love affair for your work started in 1975 and has never waned, it’s only grown. happy birthday!
Jamie, I agree with everything you listed, and especially: the "Timing" organ tone; the clav riff in "His Last Voyage".... As Old As You're Young as #1- What a great song, I've been looking for (but haven't yet found) a live recording of it...I'd also put "Experience" and "School Days" as tied with it....holy crap, you're the only other guy I've ever heard mention the '76 tour intro music- what a great piece of music! Also the bumper music on Under Construction- how great it was to hear new music from Kerry! I, too, discovered them in '75, and saw them 6x. I got a great recording of them at the july 'Bicentennial' show at the Calderone in Hempstead but it was stolen..
Hey Giants… don’t you see that we all love you very much? Specially Kerry man, a hero… I would pay just to see all of you gather around a table, drinking tea and talking about music 😅
I've seen many bands over the years. None had the versatility of Gentle Giant. Happy birthday, sir. Thank you for entertaining us for all of these years
I am truly grateful that I was turned to GG nearly 50 yrs ago and was lucky enough to see them perform live 2 or 3 times. Kerry was so multitalented it was almost silly. The music he/GG composed and performed was some of the best prog ever! Thanks and Happy BD🎉
Happy Birthday you keyboard wizard. Not to mention several other instruments and your lovely voice. Thanks so much Kerry for the joy and inspiration you have given to me since the early 1970's.
All safe, all well to Mr Minnear. Waving from Istanbul. Prolific multi-instrumentalist, yes. However, it's the voice that comes to mind first. _"Aspirations"_ or _"His Last Voyage"_ would not work with any other voice but his. After all, each member of the band is individually great, but it's the combination that makes them one of a kind, and in such humility. As they say, the whole becomes much more than the sum of its parts.
Kerry deserves to be discussed with the likes of banks, wakeman, and others as the greatest prog rock keyboardists of the 70s. I especially love his extra English, folky, and baroque compositions
Dear Mr Kerry, we all Think Of You With Kindness. Happy Birthday !
The music of Gentle Giant will never be equalled, and Kerry is the most underrated Prog keyboard player/multi-instrumentalist. Happy Birthday!
Not underrated. Maybe less known then other keyboard player.
Yes, lesser known - he has the ability of Emerson and Moraz, and a much - MUCH - better than Wakeman. And I say that as a pretty good keyboard player.
Truer words were never spoken. Gentle Giant were one in a "Zillion" and their unique style can never be copied. Last but not least: Kerry Minnear was not only a supreme keyboardist but the heart and soul of GG. A very happy birthday and many returns of the day, Mr. Minnear.

Congrats, Kerry Minnear. Long live the King of keyboards and superb multi instrumentist.

lovely tribute Bill and i fully concur.

One of Classic Progs Best !!! 👍
A Great Keyboardist, Song Writer & Fantastic Multi-instrumentalist !! 🎶🎹🎻🥁🎸🎼
And a decent vocalist.

The best composers for late XX century: Zappa, Emerson, and Minnear.
A true genius. Kerry will be studied for years.

He is just too ridiculously talented! I could watch these guys all day
Kerry, your melodic sensibility as a songwriter really inspires me. Thanks for the great music you brought to all of us. Cheers from a brazilian admirer
Absolutely! Triplets and syncopation galore - he is the best.
If CZcams had never done anything else of use at least it's given the boys in Giant more of the love they deserve. Happy birthday Kerry!
Happy Birthday Mr. Minnear. I saw GG at least 8 times live. Your multi instrumental compositions and arrangements were inspirational to aspiring musicians.
What a legend
The birthday of one of the premier musicians of his generation rightfully occupies one of premier days of the year!
The compositional heart & brains of Gentle Giant's...a very sweet soul. I'm grateful to have meet him back stage at the Roxy at their very last show in 1980.

Happy Birthday Kerry! You are the one who has given us so many priceless gifts!

Happy birthday maestro!
Believe it or not Nik Kershaw turned me onto the music of Gentle Giant back in the 80s. Monstrously talented and deserving of greater recognition. Kerry is freakishly talented.
A Reunion is needed.
No man, it’s not possible anymore, but I understand your sentiments totally
What a monstrous talent. The guy can sing too!
I love you Kerry and all GG members !
They were all amazing in that band.
All the best, Kerry! I met you in Toronto at (the then very famous) Sam the Record Man shop (mid 70s). It was the day after GG had performed at Massey Hall - a great concert which I of course attended. There will never be another GG.

Kerry plays so many instruments. What a musician
Kerry are a really musician.
The brain of the Band.
Amazing. They don't make musicians like that any more.
That's because they were handmade. Nowadays, the kids get an app on their computer and think they are musicians.
Happy Birthday Mr. Minnear ❗🎂🌟🎼🎶🎵God Bless!!! & Thanks for all the amazing music.
🎂 Happy Birthday, Mr. Minnear! 🎂
Thank you for all the years of the most brilliant entertainment and inspiration.
Happy birthday Kerry! Thank you for taking the pleasure of music to a higher level. Greetings from Argentina.
Kerry, like all of the band members, was an absolute tour de force!
Always had a liking for tracks with Kerry singing. All members were astonishingly talented, but I think he just shades it.
A genius, a monster. Frightening talent. This explains why Yes were kind of worried about GG (according to Derek).
Extraordinary muscle memory and imagination
Happy Birthday and new year from Canada!
👑 long live the king.
Maestro Happy Birthday !!
BUON COMPLEANNO Kerry! Dall'Italia un caro saluto.
I saw one show where between them there were 32 instruments. They were definitely ahead of their time.
Long live Mr. Kerry "Giant" Minear ❤️😇
