Darren is one of the best malr vocalist out there. I think his voice here is in an adolescenti transition stage. He was a soprano in his song cover of I Believe. It's one his best including the Phantom of the Opera, which was sung in his tenor voice. Morissette has this Disney princess voice quality. I think they used this version in the Aladin version that was shiwn in the Philippines. Thanks for the reaction.

There was nothing mediocre about this performance… The man doesn’t typically have a whole lot to do in terms of flash and high notes in this song. He handled that very well with great quality. If you’re looking for high notes, you can look for things that he did when he was younger, and recent things like his quarantine performances, as well as the Phantom of the opera.

I won't be a contrarian who exists only to fulfill their purpose in life like someone else here. I do have to admit this song has to be appreciated for what it is. Disney specifically asked to keep vocal acrobatics out. Morissette has multiple octaves below and above what she sang, that would be inappropriate for this song and would have made her look like a crazy oversinging lunatic with zero self awareness. Same applies to Darren, he had even less room to play with for this song.
This girl is the great impersonater, I don't mean of singers, I mean the genre's, give her a song and she fits her voice into it, you couldn't pigeon hole this girl into any one category because she's so unbelievable in all of them, she could make albums of every genre under the sun, just check out her live stage performances, she's unreal, I think the I am telling you, the song she sang on her home coming concert in Cebu is one of her best performances, and it was her final song of the concert, she had already done 28 songs and she sang it like it was her first.
That’s my issue with a lot of Filipino singers. They emulate and don’t innovate or make it their own. I love when they sing their own original songs because it’s truly where they shine. Performances like this one are just lackluster

I don’t think this RFW person has watched a whole lot. There are a lot of songs were they make it their own, with vocal rearrangements as well as musical rearrangements. Filipinos have gotten more creative over the years. I used to have the same complaint about a decade ago, that has changed.
Then maybe “chameleon” would be a better word to use..? Impersonator sounds more like aping or parroting, and doesn’t give a very positive connotation.

I love Disney duets so much. They aren't (at least in my opinion) the hardest or most complex, but they are the most beautiful and emotional. Stunning!
They aren't easy at all you have to be a top notched singer to sing disney songs.... they seemed to be easy because they're good singers so good that it seems to be easy... you need to have good focus throughout the song😉

I know nothing about music but when I bump to morrisette here at YT singing Secret love song by little Mx, i got instantly hook to her singing talent, and beautiful voice, so mesmerizing ughhh
I don't think he can reach those notes anymore just like he wouldn't be able to reach these notes back when he did chandelier. His post puberty range flipped and I'm super happy it didn't end up taking his career. There was no guarentee that a child will still sound good as an adult.
@@obe22099 I watched one of Darren's interview before this performance he said he actually practice a lot to get his voice low like this for this song because he usually sing high songs.

Thank you for an informed industry analysis of their duet. Darren is just coming into his own, and Mori, as you know, is on the brink of international stardom, I believe. Her repertoire shows her versatility: singing a Korean ballad in 3 languages; rockin' and rappin' in her Jessie J cover, Ain't Been Done; showing her old school style in the Moon River/Usahay mashup; inspiring in her recent original Phoenix. Mori's incredible breath control and astounding vocal range are just part of her talent arsenal. Her stage presence is also impressive, as evidenced by the live performances at the 2017 and 2018 Asia Song Festival.
To answer your question, Yes. Daren usually sings that way in like a smile-like style

I haven't heard much of darren after the voice kids philippines as well as when his voice started to change. This is really beautiful. Thanks for sharing boss. These two are products of singing contests in the philippines. They didn't win but they are more popular that the winners of their batches. Excellent boss. Might I confess that whenever one of your videos is over, I listen/watch the original again and try out the treasures you handed to us?
In every duet I've heard with Morissette, the reactors say things like, "They belong together", or "They are a perfect match", or "They should get married" (OK, maybe not that one). But, she just makes it seem so effortless to match up in a duet. Even doing really difficult things, like harmonizing in runs and riffs. She never tried to take control or overpower the other singers (which she could easily do). She's the perfect partner, always making things better. In this one it just seems to me that she is using her "Disney" voice, which she crafts just for this song. Taking a break from being a Phoenix to be a Princess for a little while.

I love how you appreciated Darren's low notes it was so heartwarming because he actually is famous for his vocal chops, his belting and the crazy high notes. Hope you could react to more of him though. .
Darren's my favorite teen singer to adult singer transition haha. I loved his voice when he was younger because of how great he is with those flavorful runs, but when he went to puberty and his voice got deeper his sound just sounded even better to my ears. These artists don't seem to release a lot of music though so my Spotify doesn't have a lot of their songs.

I like ur reaction and criticisms. I can see that they are really objective and are based from ur experience and expertise. I kind of agree with u with what u said at ur first reaction with Morissette, that she sometimes loses the connection or doing some inappropriate gestures or expressions. But I believe, after being a fan of hers for 3 years, where I watched countless of her videos and performances, I can undoubtedly say that she has improved so so so much. She was 19 on the Defying Gravity perf u reacted to and obviously there’s a lot of room for improvement. Which I gradually saw through the years with back to back performances. That’s how she grew on me. Even being gifted with such a beautiful voice, she never stopped on improving and continues to work hard. She strives all the time to be the best version of herself, giving her all in every perf. This is why I admire her so much. Her dedication, passion, and hard work are just admirable. You can check out her performances in Asia’s Song Festival 2017 & 2018 or other performances between 2018 up to this date. She’s just unstoppable. She’s a force to reckon with. Her growth is really insane. Plus she is a kind-hearted and very down-earth-human being. She had her mishaps, failed performances because of tiredness and few mistakes, but she never let those stop her or discourage her. In fact, she even gives a thousand percent better perf after those mishaps. She is just an amazing person and performer. I hope you could react to her performances more. I learn a lot from you. Another great performance and reaction! And the added humor as always was so funny here (loved the "I Don't Wanna Cry" interjection, plus the "O Canada" theme at Darren's intro).
Morissette and Darren's voices really do blend perfectly, and one of my favorite things about this performance is that the two of them looked so happy and comfortable together that they really seemed able to sing it "in the moment," and each of them really provided so much reaction and emotion even while the other was singing. So it just increased that sense of connection between them -- and was absolutely sublime when their voices blended. They'd be perfect choices to play these roles onstage.

Darren sang Phantom of the Opera in a concert with 2 more Filipino singers. It was upload here in You Tube. Darren used to have a high voice in his younger years as he grows older his tone changes so that was a challenge and he pulled it through😊

I had never heard of Darren Espanto and every one of your videos is an education. Also, I have yet to see the live action film version of Aladdin. Didn't care much for the animation but that's another story. I will now be watching the 2019 film in the next few days.
