That truck brings back so many funny memories. One that comes to mind is Jethro using it for his double knot spy car with a makeshift bullet shield and an ejector seat..of course it never worked the way he planned Lol
I have to say that is one of my favorite moments as well.

Our family went to this museum about 6 years ago just to see this vehicle. We were able to get in and they took a picture for $10 if my memory serves me well. What a deal. I was surprised they would let people get in it. We treaded lightly in respect that it deserves.

The original truck had a love seat in the back, because Ellie May always sat in the back with Granny, I think the very 1st episode they had Granny in this rocker but that was changed to fit Ellie May in.
One of the many great things about Daze with Jordan is the fact that everyday brings with it a surprise. Among everything you and Scott found in the museum I think the photograph of Margaret Thatcher was the biggest surprise of all! Great Vlog, safe travels.

I was a student at C of O when this truck was delivered to campus. It was driven around the streets for a couple weeks prior to being placed in the museum. It didn't have any of the stuff on the truck on it at that time. It was just the basic truck and the stuff was added once in the museum. It sounded just like it did on TV.....kind of like a sewing machine.
Very cool ha ha. I just started re-watching The Beverly Hillbillies about 3 weeks ago. Yes grew up with great re-runs too, my number one was Leave it to Beaver :)
Hi Margaret! my fave was beaver ,too, around 1960 for a few years. I still watch it now that I am retired! it's decent, and always a lesson. always liked granny on the Beverly hillbillies...she was the best character ever!!!

I've been to this museum and saw this truck about 30 years ago. Yes, it's the real truck. The Beverly Hillbillies creator, Paul Henning, donated it to the museum almost 50 years ago. Henning was originally from Independence, Missouri (a Kansas City suburb.) One of my former coworkers used to own Paul Henning's childhood home in Independence, which is on the same street as Harry Truman's house. (Henning actually knew President Truman too.) I enjoy reruns of the Beverly Hillbillies, Green Acres, and Petticoat Junction because Henning included a few references to Missouri and the Kansas City area in almost each episode. Most of these references probably fly over most people's heads, but as a lifelong Missourian of the Kansas City area for 55+ years I "get it" and understand the inside jokes. 😆

I have an old 1920 Nash my boss bought and I got it running. The rear body was incomplete so I put a flat bed on the back. it is very popular in Stockton CA. I drive it most days. There have many photos on the internet.

I received free concert tickets to a Barbara Mandrell show one time. One of the best concerts I have ever been to. Very talented lady!

I was born in 1964 i always love the Beverly Hillbillies 1921 oldesmorble truck it's was car they the back off to make a truck they used to do that alot back in early years car was cheeper then trucks i happy that it still around i still watch the show you don't get tire of it ❤❤❤
One of the first times my wife and I went to Branson was as part of a bus trip in the '90's. The trip included a visit to the College of the Ozarks. This is an awesome place to visit for many reasons but when I found out that the actual Beverly Hillbillies truck was on display, I was ecstatic! I was a huge fan of the show and, as a car guy, a huge fan of the truck! My wife and I were fortunate enough to have our picture taken sitting in the truck. I remember how tight it was between the seat and the steering wheel so Max Baer couldn't have been all that comfortable driving it because he is a pretty big dude!
When CBS canceled all those great shows, CBS never recovered: they held five of the top ten shows on tv in the 60s and early 70s .... but after they rarely had more than one show that barely made the lower top ten.
Lived the Beverly Hillbillys they were the best, granny was a hoot as well as the rest of the family 👪 ❤, lucky you and Scott , enjoy 😉

Mid 60's had the best t.v. shows ever. Im 70 now. I knew every night what was on. And what time. Even during the summer when no school. There was gomer pyle and andy griffeth in the mornings. 😎

I saw the truck a couple of years ago. I was surprised at the fee to get the picture taken soooo, I took a selfie with it. I love that picture of me and with a constant and fantastic memory from my childhood. I am old enough to have watched the episodes whenever they came on only once a week. I also developed a love of England from whenever they went and filmed over there. I finally made it to Sherwood Forest. Alas, there was no sign of Robin Hood Jethro anywhere. LOL
I paid 10.00 and got to sit in it. It’s sad you can’t anymore. I was so happy. Huge fan of the series and the truck. I checked it over good, fake gas tank for the time they put moonshine in it. You could see where it was a old car at one time. They found it at a service station and bought it much like it is for the series.
I was told they filmed the series finale in Silver dollar City in Branson. They shipped it by plane I believe for the show and when they show wrapped they seen no reason to ship it back so they donated it and the shotgun to the museum. It was a great time for me sitting in it. I’d love to see it running again.
I didn’t get the pic but they let me sit in it as long as I wanted.

I'm sure it's already been mentioned but, Branson is the home of the Silver Dollar City theme park. In the show, the family was from the area and in 1969-70, the show visited Silver Dollar City and filmed on location as the town is built to simulate a typical Ozark town. 5 episodes of the show were filmed in the park.
The Hershens know how to make the park entertaining!

Irene Ryan was 60 at the start of the series, she had to convince them anyone old enough wouldn't be able to keep up to the schedule of shooting.

Awesome vlog! The "Baldknobbers" and the "Presleys (not kin to Elvis) Jubilee" were the first two music shows in Branson back in the late 60s. Saw both shows in late 60s when my parents took me to Silver Dollar City. Droopy drawers is what the comics wear at the Baldknobber show. You may remember String Bean (Hee Haw) fame wore a pair. Weaver Brothers was a famous hillbilly duo that performed in vaudeville and film. Glad you and Scott got to see one of the orginial screen used trucks. My parents took me to see it in the late 70s. I was in high school at the time. To bad you didn't get to set in it.

The Baldknobbers are one of the musical groups in Branson that's performed there for many decades. P.S. The name Baldknobber comes from a group of vigilantes who formed in Southwest Missouri after the Civil War due to the hostilities that existed in that region during reconstruction.

They and the Presleys were the first music theaters in Branson if you don't count the "Shepherd of the Hills" outdoor theater show. Way before Roy Clark came to town turning Branson into a full blown tourist attraction

I grew up watching the Beverly Hillbillies until they were canceled. I love this truck. Unfortunately, the only one left of the original cast is Max Baer. I still stream the show now on the internet. The show will never die.

I was there July 2, 2022. I've met a lot of famous people. I've seen NYC and all the cool stuff there. Statue of Liberty and all. I've even seen Elvis. But I have never seen anything any cooler than "the old "truck" as Jed called it. I'm 55 and never imagined that truck still even existed, much less me ever getting to see it. And no... we weren't able to get our picture made in it either. I'm kinda glad though (in a way). People getting in and out of it is going to wear it out and it needs to be preserved. I wish they would put it behind glass so people could see it but not touch it. But that's just my opinion. And yes...it's very hard to look at the other stuff when that is in there. They should put it at the very back of the museum and not the first thing you see. I do have one question though. I'm pretty sure I know the answer but let's see if yall can answer it. What is the rope hanging down from the dashboard for? Granny got a hold of it once. LOL

So just 50 years after this car was built, Oldsmobile made the 1971 Olds 442. And 50 years after that they made the 2021 Olds. Looks like there was more progress in the first half century.
The Beverly Hillbillies is my favorite TV shows of all time and a close second is Married with Children but I love the Beverly Hillbillies it was so funny and awesome that no other show compares even though I was born in 1979 years after they stopped making the show but I grew up with the reruns and loved it and now I own the entire Collection on DVD and have watched the entire thing twice so far. I just love that show.

When I was a kid, born in 65’. I would cover my eyes whenever Granny was on screen. I was scared of her! The only other character that I can think of that also scared me in the same way was the wicked witch from Wizard of Oz.
I was so afraid of Cuerella DeVille from 101 Dalmations. I closed my eyes! I told my 3 sons that and they laughed so hard at me. I was born in 1961.

There was a show where Granny was opening her dentistry, and they wanted
advertising on a wall with movie stars. I think Rock Hudson was the main
picture, but if you look closely, you can see a younger Irene Ryan on the
wall. I bet she loved seeing that!
The ball knobbers is a great show
When I was a kid my family used to go to the Ozarks and see the Bald Knobbers at their theater house in Branson. It was a hoot. As I got older I found out that the original Bald Knobbers were a vigilante group in the Ozarks and that is where the group took their name from. (I grew up in the Ozarks but the eastern side of MO).

May I suggest you go to the Port Hudson Battlefield, Port Hudson, Louisiana, just north of Baton Rouge. Site of the longest siege in US military history, in which bands of feisty, DETERMINED rebels held off the combined land and naval forces of General Ulysses S Grant, who intended to capture Port Hudson and Vicksburg, thus clearing the Mississippi River for Union gunboats and completing implementation of the Anaconda Principle.
About 30 years ago now I lived near Branson in Reed's Spring,Mo. and there was a place called Caldwell's Classic Car Museum that had a truck that they claimed was the original from the Beverly Hillbillies. No idea if it was or not but it was convincing. It would be interesting to find out if it has stayed in that area all this time. The only other vehicle I remember is a Herbie Love Bug that they claimed was used in the movie. P.S. College of the Ozarks is in Hollister not Branson.
