Wintersun - The Way of the Fire (Guitar Cover)

- Me doing a cover of Wintersun's "The Way Of The Fire" from Time II. I recorded all of the guitars that you hear and used live recordings for the drums and vocals (the video was recorded after the guitars were recorded, so there are slight differences between the recorded guitars and what I'm playing at some points). It's not perfect, but it was a blast to make and it is a very challenging song to learn and to play (I had to have Teemu from Wintersun teach me several of the parts). Enjoy!

I plan on using it to learn the song and, if possible, nail it before the official studio release.
The hard part for me is re-learning to pick. You can see (if you care to on my channel) that I used to pick backwards.
So my right hand muscle memory is our of sync, whilst my left hand is still quite fast even after years not playing.
Anyways, this song is amazing and I intend to master it before we finally get a studio release. Which leaves me probably 40 years to get it...

chills down my spine... I never heard "The Way Of The Fire" complete before your cover. I don't regret.
On a literally random whim, I added "cover" to my search of "the way of the fire" since for a year I've only listened to the live version, and I can't really tell what's going on. This is incredible. It was at the 5:31 mark when I realized my hand had been hovering over the keyboard all that time. I was mesmerized! Thanks for this. I had doubts about this song, but it's as incredible as it can be.
OH MY GOD this has got to be one of the best covers in terms of impressiveness and quality, that I've ever seen, even without considering the fact that this is a cover of a song that hasn't been officially released, and won't be officially released for another several months. HUGE props to you, man.

Yeah, end of 2017 and he still hasn't made anymore progress since the first crowdfunding campaign. And building a studio ain't exactly gonna happen overnight. Maybe we'll have Time 2 by 2020 but definitely not before then. Hell, I think even 2020 is a stretch.
I don't think we're going to be hearing anything from Time II until 2021. The next crowdfunding should take care of the studio. That is what I think. They will tour until the end of the 2018, run the next crowdfunding sometime in 2019, put out the crowd fund album, tour with that until the end of 2020. After that, I think we will have the long awaited Time II.

That guitar melody from 8:08 to 8:14 was so beautiful. However, I didn't hear it from other live versions except for Kai's drum version. Therefore, I wonder if this melody will be on the studio version.
Most likely it will be there.
Live versions of the song obscured _a lot_ of smaller details, since they weren't soundboard recordings.

Can someone explain me why there are so many dislikes? I know we can filter them, but I could not even find a comment saying what's wrong or stating a negative opinion. This sounds nearly flawless to me, the tone is great and this guy did an amazing job.

Thanks! I used the guitar you see in the video to record everything (it's a custom RR-style guitar) and I used an Eleven Rack with a Mesa Dual Rectifier tone that I made (I tried to emulate the sound of Wintersun's live tone).

This is where we find ourselves. Fans love the music so much they are recording it themselves because that’s the only way to hear it (besides low quality concert bootlegs). Why won’t Jari just give us something other than crowdfunding videos!!!!!! I would happily pay for a single of “Way of the Fire.” I will not pay for more handheld footage of the band hyping exclusive handheld footage of the band hyping their various crowdfunding strategies! Please, Jari, do your job as a musician and make and release music so I can give you all my money!!!
P. S. I love you, Wintersun, and will always return at the first sign of affection like a battered spouse.
They never release songs early, so I doubt they'd release The Way of the Fire before Time II comes out, plus there'd only be 3 more songs to look forward to if they did. Also, I made this cover because I love playing this song, not to make a "better sounding" version (I personally don't like the sound as much anymore, but I'm super happy with the performance and how the video turned out!). As for the Patreon, I'm a member and I dig it! I haven't heard them talk about the crowdfunding at all unless asked about it directly, but Jari has said that they're in writing mode so new music should be on the horizon! Yes. Jari uses his Jem for the song, so it's D standard.

@@frozenstarlight7782 Unfortunately I don't remember the guy's name who made the body and neck, I got it back when I was 14 from an ebay seller and then bought all the other components (pickup, bridge, etc.) and put it together with the help of a local luthier.
