God what a great year for TV. Charlie’s angels, Starsky and Hutch, Six Million Dollar Man, Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley, Bionic Woman, What’s happening. All great themes.
That Sunday Night Movie bumper brought back memories; the only time our family sat together in the same room without fighting was watching these movies on TV!
Me too bro I cried those times are so magical and wonderful and won't care what anybody says much simpler the old black and white with the antenna ears with a little aluminum foil wrapped around them for a clearer picture
The Bionic Woman was a perfect compliment, and I still wonder to this day where they got such great IC chips to make those Fembots? Man, that would have made a MUCH better stereo receiver!
Growing up in the 70’s I remember these shows vividly. The theme from Baretta was the coolest. I miss those days, much simpler time, looking back I get a tear in my eye
What a line up...no wonder I watched so much T.V. as a kid. Sammie Davis Jr singing Baretta open sensational. Omg Welcome Back Kotter and What's Happening on same night. Whoever ran programming at ABC that year should be in the Hall of Fame for tv.
You can thank the late Fred Silverman for that, bro. Aside from a couple of stinkers that year ("The Brady Bunch Hour" immediately comes to mind), Silverman singlehandedly reversed ABC's misfortunes practically overnight during the 1976-77 season, thanks almost entirely to "Happy Days," "Charlie's Angels," and, of course, the groundbreaking, Emmy Award-winning miniseries "Roots."
that intro to the ABC Sunday Night Movie brings back automatic great memories. All three networks played movies during the week but this intro always seemed extra exciting even if the movie that night wasn't so great.
The ABC Sunday and Friday Night Movie has a very catchy orchestra as well as a narrator that grabs a persons attention. Most of the movies they had I watched from beginning to end.
Thank you for an amazing trip down memory lane - amazing to compare these shows with what we see today. No comparison, they don't make 'em like they used to!
Thanks for some great memories of these shows Loved growing up in the 70's. Family time together and then watching some of your favorite shows. Sure miss those moments we spent together and Mom would make popcorn and a couple snacks for Sis and me and some of our friends.
This is great. Takes me back to my childhood, especially the Sunday (Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew, Six Million Dollar Man, Sunday night movie), Tuesday (Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley), Wednesday (Bionic Woman), and Thursday (Welcome Back, Kotter, Barney Miller)night lineups. Guess the other times we were watching NBC or CBS....
ABC had some great 70s hit shows back in the day like Barney Miller, Superfriends, Schoolhouse Rock, Happy Days, Welcome Back, Kotter, What’s Happening!! Laverne & Shirley, Charlie’s Angels, Starsky & Hutch, Family, Three’s Company and lots more!!!!!!
The Welcome Back, Kotter/What's Happening!!/Barney Miller/Three's Company lineup is amazing! I own DVDs of each show (and every episode of 2 of them). This would be near the peak of all 4.
What a wonderful trip down memory lane. I would like to personally thank you for all the time and hard work it took to make this videos. Your work, I'm sure, is very much appreciated by all who watch. Thanks again!
+Chris Wells No probs. Though I should forewarn you, and others, that CZcams's copyright infringement nonsense is beginning to get out of hand, so there may be fewer of these vids if they keep blocking my efforts. This one has given me about a dozen "infringements" which I've already contested. Once contested, they let it go until some nutcase decides he wants to give you a hard time and exercise his right to block the video worldwide - all it takes is one to do it. I've had about a handful blocked worldwide out of the over 145 I've uploaded so far, but these notices I keep getting are becoming more of a pain to deal with. We'll see how long this video will stay up before it might get blocked. I'll consider myself extremely lucky if all dozen complainants leave it alone.
You have to have a good lawyer to arrange clearances when you get to this level of archival excellence, and unfortunately pepper the video with today's commercials that suck.Be diligent and wise, you aren't the first to go down this road. Compromise is the necessary evil.
Boy, ABC was in the catbird seat back in '77, thanks to the efforts of Fred Silverman! And the groundbreaking, Emmy Award-winning miniseries "Roots" was definitely the cherry on the top of ABC's sundae of success!
Him running fast looked Kool too.... On that country road with white fence.... Serious look on his face too.... I'm 54 and I still make those jumping sounds to reminisce..... Ahhhhh the 70's
I'm glad this is still up almost 4 yrs later:))) Was my 10th grade year, I didn't discover some of these until '78, maybe because of school/homework distractions, I know I was watching Happy Days, Charlie's Angels, Laverne and Shirley, Baretta, Starsky and Hutch, Six Million Dollar Man, and I think the ones that came later were Eight is Enough, (lost Diana Hyland in March of '77?) What's Happenin' and Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew.... loved all of these, it is rejuvenating to see this:) Like a cheerful sunlight into my brain!
Thanks so much for presenting not just the show themes but the nights and times when they aired. It was a trip back through time for me--when I was 12 years old and a walking TV Guide magazine!
The TV Guide was my bible back then. I would keep the schedule edition of the TV guide for a few months. I could have kept it longer, but my mom would find them and got rid of them.
Nothing wrong with being a walking TV guy magazine dude I still am I still have some of those TV guys bro and I just wish it was that time all over again nothing better including the movies the clothes and the music I don't care what anybody else says it was much simpler times too
Ah TV WAS SON SIMPLE THEN BACK IN 1977,Living in Denver in 1977,Broncomania was born ,Orange Crush and with their 1st ever trip to the SB. ABC Sunday night at the movies was great, along best cop show Starsky and Hutch. I was 13-years old in 1977. Thanks for the great memories of my child hood.
Six Million Dollar Man, Bionic Woman, What's Happening, Barney Miller, Laverne & Shirley, Happy Days, Charlie's Angels, Welcome Back Kotter, Three's Company....all this in the same year? Damn, ABC in 1977 was epic!!
Holy crap, I was a kid in 77 and I sure am glad I missed that Curse of the Black Widow movie. That would've gave me nightmares for years! Oh, and and if there's a nuclear war, only two things will survive: roaches and Abe Vigoda.
Didn't they try to do an Abe Vigoda series not too long ago ? Maybe it was back in late 90's early 2000's. I couldn't believe he was still alive or relavent. Could be wrong.
There was a TV movie called Trilogy of Terror, with Karen Black, that aired in the early 70s. The third story was about a possessed little doll that kept stabbing her. It was terrifying. I just knew he was waiting under my bed every night.
1976-1977 and 1977-1978 were two of the best years of my youthful life. Grade 6 and 7 at a great school with the best teacher I ever had, Mr. Keith Dix and some of my best elementary school buddies as well as my first school crush on a girl 🥰... Tv shows here only made it better 😎
Grant Goodeve from Eight Is Enough hosted Northwest Backroads in the Seattle area for years. I used to see him at a local Starbucks. Good looking guy in real life too.
I was 8 years old in 77. I can remember watching a lot of these shows on tv then I can still see my dad in his chair smoking his pipe and tobacco with those 70's sideburns.
All four series didn't last long. "BLANSKY'S BEAUTIES" was spun off from "HAPPY DAYS" ("Nancy Blansky" was a relative of "Marion Cunningham", and "Arnold" had a coffee shop in the Vegas hotel she worked at). It lasted 13 episodes.
my god what a line up !!!! such classic shows back then and this was just 1 network. we had 3 channels back then 1pbs station and 1 uhf station and there was way more to watch back then now we 500 channels that usually show one show on each all day long
God what a great year for TV.
Totally teared up at the intro to Laverne and Shirley...didn't know I remembered all the lyrics.... Rest in peace, Penny Marshall!
Me too bro I cried those times are so magical and wonderful and won't care what anybody says much simpler the old black and white with the antenna ears with a little aluminum foil wrapped around them for a clearer picture
Now RIP Cindy Williams as well
And may Cindy Williams rest in peace, too.
The Six Million Dollar Man was the coolest show on TV, to an 11 year old like me in 1976.
+paktype no doubt. I remember running around making the bionic sounds.
Russell Oriely We all did that. Great memories.
The Bionic Woman was a perfect compliment, and I still wonder to this day where they got such great IC chips to make those Fembots? Man, that would have made a MUCH better stereo receiver!
paktype that intro used to get so excited. My favorite episode was with Abner Buble
Same here, Lee Majors was the man. The 70's sure was a good time for me. Nowadays, I feel there's nothing good anywhere.
Growing up in the 70’s I remember these shows vividly. The theme from Baretta was the coolest. I miss those days, much simpler time, looking back I get a tear in my eye
Me to except I cry bro
ABC had a hell of a lineup in the 70s, that’s a lot of hit shows!
Yep, thanks to the late Fred Silverman.
Barrett had one heck of a theme song that I included in my playlist. Sammy Davis had a nice voice!✌️
This makes me want to cry. I remember these shows like yesterday. used to sit and watch like a rug rat !
Oh I definitely remember watching The curse of the Black widow when it first was on man I got it on DVD awesome
Absolutely love the dramatic opening of the Six Million Dollar Man. Cool theme song too.
TV was at its best in the '70s & 80s.
That was really a good period of TV. I miss the 70's 😭
What a line up...no wonder I watched so much T.V. as a kid. Sammie Davis Jr singing Baretta open sensational. Omg Welcome Back Kotter and What's Happening on same night. Whoever ran programming at ABC that year should be in the Hall of Fame for tv.
It was never done better than this man and these were the best of times
You can thank the late Fred Silverman for that, bro. Aside from a couple of stinkers that year ("The Brady Bunch Hour" immediately comes to mind), Silverman singlehandedly reversed ABC's misfortunes practically overnight during the 1976-77 season, thanks almost entirely to "Happy Days," "Charlie's Angels," and, of course, the groundbreaking, Emmy Award-winning miniseries "Roots."
_The ABC Sunday Night Movie intro...Wow...._
Ah, Barney Miller. When people talk about socially relevant comedies of the 70's, for some reason everyone always forgets this one.
not this watcher. have the entire series on DVD and quote from it more than I should admit.
I couldn't agree with you more.
Barney Miller was the only truly great show of the bunch.
My sentiments exactly, @@Nicksonian! Thanks for commenting!
Ironically, it was probably the last TV show that took place entirely in just one setting.
that intro to the ABC Sunday Night Movie brings back automatic great memories. All three networks played movies during the week but this intro always seemed extra exciting even if the movie that night wasn't so great.
Loved the Bionic Woman!!
I was a total television addict all through my teens and early 20's I remember all of these in detail. Thanks RwDt09.
I still am a TV out of the only thing is I only watch the stuff from that era
Oh and the movies and the music too from that time ever
Just loved Barney Miller. TV writing at it's very best. Still get to see them on IFC channel. I still laugh just as hard.
YEAH!!! The Six Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman!!! That's what i'm talkin' about!!!
The ABC Sunday and Friday Night Movie has a very catchy orchestra as well as a narrator that grabs a persons attention. Most of the movies they had I watched from beginning to end.
Joel Crager, announcer.
Thanks for telling me. I still feel like I'm in another dimension . Joel Crager is the best no doubt.
I do remember The ABC Movie Of The Week which aired from 1969-1975. Cutting edge films back in the day.
Best time for TV hands down, had it all!
I still enjoy Hardy Boys episodes. It's like a time machine to my youth.
Where do you watch them?
Virginia Taylor I found a few episodes right here on CZcams.
knox2613
OK. Thanks!
The good ol' days! Back when TV was entertaining.
r.i.p. diana hyland :(
TV Was At It's Level Best Throughout The 1970's & 1980's.
I would say "level best" in the 60s and 70s, still good in the 80s and 90s, but considerably worse since then.
Agreed!😎👍
Thank you for an amazing trip down memory lane - amazing to compare these shows with what we see today. No comparison, they don't make 'em like they used to!
You're 150% right dude
I remember most of these. I was 11 too. The one thing stands out the most was Baretta’s theme and Welcome Back Kotter’s theme songs. Classic. 😍
Thanks for some great memories of these shows
Loved growing up in the 70's. Family time together and then watching some of your favorite shows. Sure miss those moments we spent together and Mom would make popcorn and a couple snacks for Sis and me and some of our friends.
+Mike Goble Geez, now you made me cry.
Mike Goble me too
This is great. Takes me back to my childhood, especially the Sunday (Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew, Six Million Dollar Man, Sunday night movie), Tuesday (Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley), Wednesday (Bionic Woman), and Thursday (Welcome Back, Kotter, Barney Miller)night lineups. Barney Miller: Coolest intro theme ever. Watch it every night on Antenna TV at 8pm.
My senior year of high school. Great, great memories.

Ah, Family! My favorite show, still! Kate, Doug, Nancy, Willie, Buddy, Jeff, little Timmy- love them.
Thanks for this, The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Theme was stuck in my head for 30 years and drove me nuts trying to remember where I first heard it.
Loved 1977 for so many reasons, and always will...thanks for the memories!
+Chris Wells No probs. RwDt09 I'm sorry to hear that! It's great CZcamsrs like yourself that make CZcams as good as it is, you keep the history of television alive!
+RwDt09 CZcams should be called TheirTube...smh

I really enjoy these, great memories. Thank you for all the effort.
A lot of these 70’s shows had some funky ass theme songs.
Ya the 70s were funky
Memories. I was born in 73. But I love these shows today only thing I watch is anything from the 60-70’s tv show. They don’t make tv like they use to!
That's all I watch bro 1950s '60s and 70s and 80s TV and music and movies too
The Six Million Dollar Man intro is just as good now.
Using slow-mo to represent high speed was a brilliant technique to keep it from looking goofy.
Him running fast looked Kool too.... On that country road with white fence.... Serious look on his face too.... I'm 54 and I still make those jumping sounds to reminisce..... Ahhhhh the 70's
I was coming back from 2 years in Japan serving my country and the first show I watched was the Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew mystery. June 1977
I'm glad this is still up almost 4 yrs later:))) Was my 10th grade year, I didn't discover some of these until '78, maybe because of school/homework distractions, I know I was watching Happy Days, Charlie's Angels, Laverne and Shirley, Baretta, Starsky and Hutch, Six Million Dollar Man, and I think the ones that came later were Eight is Enough, (lost Diana Hyland in March of '77?) What's Happenin' and Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew.... loved all of these, it is rejuvenating to see this:) Like a cheerful sunlight into my brain!
oddly enough I watched the same exact shows, but never cared for Barney Miller, and you are right eight is enough came later.
Oh wow, Eight is Enough...the super early version when Diana Hyland was still alive. The opening music sequence was different too!
John Travolta was engaged to Diana Hyland before she died of cancer.
Man that was so cool! Memories!!
Thanks so much for presenting not just the show themes but the nights and times when they aired. It was a trip back through time for me--when I was 12 years old and a walking TV Guide magazine!

@@jimmorrison6421 Thank you, and I COMPLETELY agree with you.
Awesome time to be a kid, great TV shows!
Loved 1977, great shows b4 cable, no nudity or profanity…..family could actually watch tv together
I grew up in Broomfield at the same time, just north of Denver. Still live in Colorado.
Rob Lytle fumbled
I remember my sister loved that show Family. RIP Michelle
With a few exceptions, a good season with many classics. I remember watching a lot of these as a kid.
Goes to show how great ABC was back in the day, the only show I didn't recognize was the medical drama.
Six Million Dollar Man, Bionic Woman, What's Happening, Barney Miller, Laverne & Shirley, Happy Days, Charlie's Angels, Welcome Back Kotter, Three's Company....all this in the same year? Damn, ABC in 1977 was epic!!
Yes, indeed...thanks to the late Fred Silverman.
You brought back some incredible memories with this video.Thank you so much!❤
Wow, love the them music from these shows!
I watched 'em come and go during this period. Love it
It was a good year for tv! I was 13 years old and loved lots of these shows!
Holy crap, I was a kid in 77 and I sure am glad I missed that Curse of the Black Widow movie. That would've gave me nightmares for years!
Oh, and and if there's a nuclear war, only two things will survive: roaches and Abe Vigoda.
I was only 7 in 1977, and I am glad I missed the Brady Bunch Variety Hour! It would have given me nightmares for years!!
You know now that Abe is finally gone :( but never EVER forgotten.
I'd give The Feather & Father Gang a watch.
We are the same age. Those were fantastic years!
2:42 Better, Stronger, Polyester!
Beretta’s and barney Miller’s theme are funky 😄
Seems like 1977 was the best year of my life...
I know it was for me!
t.v. was the very best back than, how I miss those times..
13:30 Sammy!
Got to be one of the most solid lineups in TV history.
24:36 a couple running and pointing guns. They used the split screen. Innovative.
I love these compilations! I think 1977 is my favorite so far!
Grant Goodeve from Eight Is Enough hosted Northwest Backroads in the Seattle area for years. I used to see him at a local Starbucks. Good looking guy in real life too.
Back in the 70's i did not drink coffee
I was 8 years old in 77. I can remember watching a lot of these shows on tv then I can still see my dad in his chair smoking his pipe and tobacco with those 70's sideburns.
thanks so much for downloading these great memories
13:29 I keep listening to this without the picture
Never heard of Feather & Father, West side Medical, Blansky’s Beauties, Dog & Cat.
Dog & Cat is only notable for one thing, the debut of Kim Basinger.
Eight Is Enough. One of the all-time best!
my god what a line up !!!! such classic shows back then and this was just 1 network. we had 3 channels back then 1pbs station and 1 uhf station and there was way more to watch back then now we 500 channels that usually show one show on each all day long
500 hundred channels and nothing really creative or entertaining, like back in the 70's or 80's
I was around 6 years old when some of these shows we're around. Some of them I haven't heard of.
starsky and hutch was the best acted show of that time.
Only because of Huggy Bear.
Aside from the 66 Batmobile. Was the coolest car ever on TV.
Back when life was simple & beautiful
Eight is Enough to keep me in my wife’s good graces. I’m a fortunate man and am reminded of this when I hear the catchy T.V. Show opening…
The 70's into the 80's also were the epitome of tv show theme songs.
thanks for all your vids,I really love it.It's my childhood.
Movies on Friday and Sunday nights. Can you even imagine that today?
I loved What’s Happening
Thanks for posting this along with the schedule! : )
This was great. I watched every night. Fish was great!!
Thank you very much for this ! Wow
Nothing better than Starsky and Hutch!!!
+Jim Moriarty Both had Antonio Fargas- ABC's go to pimp
I went from Jr HS to HS when these are out. I had a sweater just like Starsky, in school for the winter months. Brings back memories 😀😀😀
My childhood. All in one video
Lived in Tampa in 1977 i was 11 years old, i remember all these shows. I had the biggest crush on Lindsay Wagner!
Family, Eight is Enough, Baretta are the shows that I watched. I don't remember Feather and Father, blansky's beauties, Dog and Cat and Most Wanted.
That Hardy Boys I watched as a kid, what's the first image ??? The Shining Hedge Maze !!! Stanley Kubrick didn't think of that on his own :'( :'(
Don't try to kid us: that's NOT Jan!
She’s known as “Fake Jan” today
I was going to ask, whatever became of Geri Reischl? She was cute, if nothing else.
I really appreciate the details at the beginning of the video that set the context. It's crazy that it was just 3 networks and local stuff back then.
I wonder why they don't show old reruns of the Hardy Boy's, Nancy Drew mysteries.
Not enough.
So many classic series.
What a collection of classic shows ...
...
...
... and the Brady Bunch Variety Hour. The Simpsons nailed that one.
I really enjoy these, great memories...... Thanks!
This is when television was television.
Barney Miller - best of all.
I was too young when these first came out, but I saw a lot of these a decade later in syndication.
The ABC Sunday and Friday Night Movie intros throw me right back to childhood! I could not help but smile. Thanks for uploading these.
That's an unbelievable schedule!
