Japan needs to more consistently verse stronger opposition on top of PNC. Teams like Italy, Scotland, USA, Canada. They also need to get players playing overseas in competitions like Top 14 in France like Atsushi Hiwasa did

wow, is the anthem really that tough?lol anyways, the pressure from within Japan, is that from the media and others outside of the JFRU or from within the union as well?

I know perfectly well who and what Eddie Jones is. His stance on the selection of non-Japanase players is rather ironic considering he is not Japanese himself! His mother may be Japanese, his wife may be Japanese, but Eddie is Australian!

old Eddie putting down the foot. He certainly is a traditionalist when it comes to Rugby management, not many coaches can get away with speaking badly about a team like that these days.. will be interesting to see how the next few years roll out in the PNC. Japan seem to be on the edge where they can join the ranks with Italy, Canada, USA, Scotland, fiji, Samoa, Tonga... or they can go downhill and just lose every game .. certainly want to see them perform better.

    I disagree mdjcsmith!
This is the moment the players realized that Eddie means business and got serious about what they needed to do. Eddie became very popular in Japan and we all love him down in our town in Miyazaki where the team trained.
    Tough love can work wonders!

It is an edict from the JRFU to pick so called 'Master Race' full blooded Yamato players.

There is pressure from within Japan to have a home-grown team, rather than a team of players that are obviously of non-Japanese heritage. The Kimigayo, the national anthem of Japan, is a nightmare to sing.

I dont get it. He has a problem picking players born overseas who actually want to sing the Japanese anthem and proudly wear the jersey, pledging to play hard for and represent Japan? or is it because they are from New Zealand? Come onnn, Eddie! The Wallabies have at least four players from overseas. At least 8 foreign-born in the English side, at least 2 in the French side and everyone knows about the New Zealand team's strong connection with the Pacific countries like Samoa, Fiji and Tonga.

Edward Jones is of Japanese heritage, although from a Japanese perspective he is racially impure due to having European blood.

2:54 Eddie Jones needs to reign it in a bit, that's a grown man sitting next to him and to denigrate him in front of the press is arrogant. He doesn't find it funny, he's trying to cover up his embarrassment. The Wallabies went from confident, creative world-beaters to restricted, unimaginative shadows of their former selves under Jones, is it any wonder if this was his behaviour? It was narrow-minded belligerence like this which cost the Brumbies the 2000 home Grand Final against the Crusaders.
