Formed in 1936 (as the Yorkshire Copper Works Band) the 'Imps', as the band is now affectionately known, has since developed to a point where it ranks amongst the foremost brass bands in the world. Its impressive record includes prizes at all the major competitions including British Open Champions (1970, 1971, 1980) and National Champions (1978), BBC Band of the Year (1981).
