- Who rules Sark? Barclay brothers' power grab exposed.
Martin Summers & Tony Ventris (Sept 2009)
Please have a listen to the second hour of 16th April 2010 edition of BCfm's Friday Drivetime www.thisweek.org.uk
The small Channel Island of Sark was the last feudal state in Europe until an election was called in December 2008. But many local people feel that their fledgeling democracy is already being subverted. Locals believe that since wealthy tax exiles the Barclay twins bought the adjacent island of Brechou in 1993 they have been attempting to set themselves up as Sark's new feudal rulers. The Barclay brothers portfolio includes the Daily Telegraph and the Ritz Hotel. Martin Summers and elected local councillor Tony Ventris look into the story.
All sounds like bitterness and envy against the Barclay brothers to me.
You sound like a Barclay's puppet to me.
Top research there old boy, Sark is definitely smaller than Herm..
@kanenkitten indeed. Unfortunately there all bent guernsey coppers, not sark ones.
Build a causeway between Brechou and Sark. No longer an island.
that makes as much sense as a chocolate donut.
If they don't like our governance why won't they go somewhere else to annoy
yes and the barclays only present them to courts which doesn't seem a very good way to communicate with the Sark community who was fucking decades there before those bafoons.
there is always two sides of a story
Money always gives some one Power ??
they know what they are doing I don't know why but it ay be just a power trip
Or someone has upset them
