    This kind of photography is EXACTLY what I want my business to be about! I see very few people talking about this style of photography outside of typical street photography videos. Do you know of any good resources that touch more on in-home documentary style photography?

    Thanks. 'Posy' kinds of shots are almost impossible in my family: four grandchildren aged 9 to 2 and crazy grown ups! Plus, the grandkids see my X100F come out and they all want a go - which I let them (under supervision!). Embarrassing that some of their stuff is better than mine... I've been shooting in the style you mention for a couple of years now and to be honest I love the memories and the pictures. And I will do a photobook from time to time - my son for Father's Day, my wife's special birthday, etc. I've been delivered from trying to catch formal pictures of family!

    Documenting my family in a photojournalistic or documentary type style is soooo important to me for one reason. Our parents took our pictures and we now have memories to show for them. Fast forward to 2020 and everyone is just snapping them with a phone. Well, phones break. Phones get lost. Phones don't have the image quality that will stand the test of time. And many people don't upload their photos to their computer before getting a new one and hundreds of photos just die in time. Many people say well that's why I upload everything to Facebook and Instagram. Well what happens when those disappear? Are you really willing to put all your trust into social media? I won't. So for that reason, I want to remember my son with the best quality photos I can get so that one day, we can both look back and laugh like I do with my parents now. I want my pictures to tell a story. I want to smell the cookies being baked with grandma, I want that nostalgic feeling of playing with old toys to come back when he looks at them, I want to evoke emotion to others that see them. In an era of instant, I want a lasting result. I am working on putting a book together of my son's first three years of life. Even if the files become corrupt on my computer, I will have a print to fall back on like the old days.

    @TawaraboshiGenba Před 4 lety +2

    +1 for the shorter clips focusing on a single topic, that's a great idea. Keeping the talk contained and having descriptive titles makes a huge difference, because it attracts people's attention better.
    Also, along with the topic of this one, what lens would you recommend? Zoom or prime? (I mention this because a zoom gives you the versatility of having many focal lenghts) If it's indoors, wide will be a must, I guess. Maybe 16 or 23 (in Fuji APS-C)? I saw your 27 on your X-T20. Is it any good for this kind of photography? Or perhaps it isn't wide enough? What AF settings would you use to be able to capture vanishing moments quickly? Focus & recompose? Face detection AF on? Judging by your pictures, you have experience doing this ... Maybe you could do a follow-up video expanding on this topic, I'd love that :D

    • @pimentovski2011
      @pimentovski2011 Před 4 lety

      First of all I really enjoy this channel. I've been following it since the beginning. Even before i had my first Fuji, the amazing x-t2. Why doesn't Fuji shrinks the x-t2 (no... the x-t20 although excellent, it's not the same experience/feeling)!
      Your commitment has motivated/drived my photography. Thank you!
      On the topic of this video, beside the above mentioned, that is spot on (autofocus continue is a must), i would add some other points for the follow up of this video (you have to do it, pretty please!!!!!):
      - low light indoors, before bed time? Flash, B&W, high iso noise?
      - Editing/ photo selection ( picking the best photos of loved ones it's hard, i want to keep them all, even if i have 5 of the same ... I'm a happy trigger, i blame my self afterwards)
      - when/how do you do, taking the memory card of your camera and getting those photos on your computer. Workflow for family photos, not job related!
      On can only wish for the follow up.
      Keep going... keep pushing forward!

    Always have my (only) camera sitting around with a pancacke lens so it's not intrusive and wide anglr enough for these close moments and fast enough to use flashless so eben less intrusive. Google photo's is great since i share with family eho might be less tech savvy. Photo books print for very little money these days. And having one or a few frames dedicated for the recent best family shots around the house, just out of the printer. Although having one professionally printed is easily worth it. And it allows you to work on your skills.
