Join me onboard the incredible Ovation of the Seas for a full and comprehensive ship tour. Filmed at the end of 2022, this tour shows Ovation of the Seas in its most recent condition.
We’ll begin with the cafe @two70, where you can find casual and complimentary food items all day, as well as barista made coffee.
Two70 is up next, an incredible entertainment venue that by day, offers amazing views across a 270 degree field of view from the panoramic windows.
Upstairs, the library and internet cafe are tucked away, as well as The Workshop.
Downstairs on Deck 4, the Next Cruise Desk is where you can reserve a future voyage.
Park West offers an art gallery and sales onboard. Vintages is the wine bar, offering tapas dishes plus an extensive wine list.
Jamie’s Italian is the Jamie Oliver-inspired speciality restaurant. With an Italian menu, and even al fresco seating.
The Via merges with the beginning of the Royal Esplanade.
The Royal Esplanade is where you’ll find, among other things, Shore Excursions, Wonderland, Izumi, Schooner Bar, La Patisserie, Sorrento’s Pizzeria, Cafe Promenade and of course Bionic Bar.
Chops Grille is another speciality venue, and one of my favourites onboard Royal Caribbean’s fleet of ships.
Focus is the photo gallery, with tech-forward screens allowing people to simply tap their Sea Pass card and review their photos for purchase.
The Royal Theatre is a two level main theatre, where production shows are held throughout the cruise.
The Diamond Club is available for Diamond and above members of the Crown and Anchor loyalty program.
The butterfly wall is just one of Ovation of the Seas unique art installations - do you know how to make all of the butterflies take off at once?
The Music Hall is an incredible two level area, designed for socialising, dancing and of course music. With two bars, pool tables, a bandstand and dance floor, this is a popular venue onboard.
Additional shops in the Royal Esplanade make way for the Amber and Oak Pub - with craft beers, snacks and cocktails.
Boleros is the Latin club onboard, with mojitos and salsa dancing!
Guest Services is where you can get assistance with any of your cruise related queries.
The casino is located on Deck 3, and is a mammoth space with a range of gaming tables and slot machines.
Up to Deck 4 to inspect the restaurants. Unlike the multi-level main dining rooms of other Royal Caribbean ships, Ovation of the Seas possesses 4 smaller restaurant spaces. This staircase connects all 4 dining rooms.
Each restaurant has its own unique theme, decor and design. When launched, the Quantum Class ships were all designed to operate with a new dining concept called Dynamic Dining. Each restaurant was supposed to offer its own unique menu, connected to the name and design of the space. The concept was relatively short lived, and now, despite the difference in appearance, each restaurant offers the same nightly dinner menu. Still, it is enjoyable to have unique surrounds - personally, I always liked the sound of Dynamic Dining. Let me know in the comments below if you had a chance try it out for yourself.
Upstairs, we’ll look at the SeaPlex and dodgem cars. Plus we’ll see where iFly, the FlowRider and rock climbing are held. We’ll take a full lap of Deck 15 as we inspect the running track, the main outdoor and indoor pools, the kid-friendly Splashaway Bay and the North Star.
The Vitality Salon and Spa, plus fitness centre are up next.
We’ll finish the tour with the stunning adults only Solarium and Solarium Bistro - another complimentary dining venue onboard.
I hope you enjoyed watching my tour of the Ovation of the Seas!
Best reviewer ever. Straight to the point. No minutes long intro. Excellent- and comprehensive.. thanks. Your videos help a lot with orientation
Thanks so much! That means a lot. I try to make videos in the style that I enjoy watching myself - I’m glad you enjoy them.

Glad it was helpful! Have fun!
Beautiful ship 🛳️
Thank you so much for this wonderful review of the Ovation. We will be on her for 27 days for a Transpacificin October. I was a bit leery of being on such a large ship but your review has taken that feeling away and now I can’t wait!
Brilliant! You’ll have plenty of time to explore every inch of the incredible Ovation of the Seas 😁
Will be on Her April 5 all the way to Alaska meeting our Daughter and her Family. Thank you so much for the excellent tour. I think I will be able find my way around.
Hope you enjoy your cruise!
Thank you for sharing

Thanks Adrian for this great video I’m booked on this ship in February 2025 to the South Pacific can’t wait cheers
Awesome! Thanks for watching and enjoy your cruise next February
Looks great. I'm looking forward to Chops Grille and the hot dogs and the fish and chips and the sushi... Maybe I should have booked a longer cruise. Thanks for another excellent tour Adrian.
Thanks so much Ken. Glad you enjoyed the tour! So many restaurants, so little time 😆
@@TheCruiseandTravelGuy Of you're on a cruise is it considered gluttony?
@@kendavis7248 haha never!

I Can already see us walking around on the first day, repeating over over wow wow wow. Lovely review. We sailed on the Quantum last week and were unimpressed. The food was similar to something you would be served in the hospital, the ship was dated and in sad shape. Our bed was uncomfortable, and we were unable to maintain an ambient temperature in our stateroom. It was obvious that they were short on crewmembers. Pool decks were not maintained effectively, tables surrounding the pools were bussed sporadically. Three ports were canceled, which deflated the overall experience a bit more. Highlight = the crew (per usual) were exceptional! This was our sixth sailing with Royal Caribbean, and nothing like what we experienced in the past.
Thanks for watching. I'm sorry to hear your cruise was not up to par. Hopefully it was a one-off, but it sounds like there were more than a few issues. Still glad to hear that the crew were the highlight, Royal has some of the best in the business.
Love the review! Straight and to the point.
1 week till we sail on this ship out of Sydney. Can't wait. 😃
Have an awesome cruise!
Another great video Adrian. Thanks for the very detailed look over the ship. I now know I will probably avoid the Windjammer Market Place and other open buffet style restaurants. There are plenty of other places to eat with a large menu variety. Cheers.
Thanks Les! Glad you enjoyed the tour. I loved the variety of complimentary dining venues onboard - it was quite easy to avoid the Windjammer and still have access to a great range of food options.
I was at the launch in Papenburg back in 2016. Very impressive to see such a huge object going down the Ems river in Germany! Even certain bridges need to be removed everytime such a huge ship is ready for delivery.
As for the looks....man those ships look UGLY compared to the older ocean liners!
They look like big tourist apartment buildings you find on the Spanish coasts. They really look nasty from all sides. It is impressive because of the size and from an engineering perspective though. Only the Disney fantasy looks a little like a true ocean liner (purely because of the smart painting).
Funny to see the inside! To be honest, it looks as cheap as the outside😂🤣
For me cruises always represented holidays for people who are not able to entertain themselves. It has that "all you can eat" restaurant vibe surrounding it😁
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts ☺️
I went on this in February and it was easily my best cruise ever, sadly though the main dining room did disappoint with service and hygienic purposes but other than that it is a beautiful ship with friendly crew.
Thanks for watching! Sad to hear about your experience in the main dining room, but glad you enjoyed your time onboard overall.
My sister and I are eating at Chops Grille for lunch on the day we board and we are going to try the hot dogs on another day there as well as fish and ships on another day too
You’ll love it 😄
I was just playing around this morning and scored a promo code on top of a single studio balcony room for seven nights on the Ovation for $2500! I note there arent too many of these on board of this studio solo traveller rooms. Bernie
There aren't many studio cabins at all... so that's quite the find!
15:24 my guy dabbed
😂 haha I was hoping someone would mention that
Thank you for your brilliant and informative video 🛳
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching.
I experienced the dynamic dining on the QOTS and loved it, disappointed that it’s main dining now. The only problem with this was that certain dining rooms were impossible to dine in as fully booked out. This was in 2015 sailing out of New Jersey.
It always seemed like such a good idea. It looks like Celebrity have introduced the concept on their Edge Class ships also.
I agree. We sailed on the QOTS a few times in 2014 and really liked dynamic dining.
A common question people are asking is there a charge for the NorthStar and iFly - this is something that you omitted from your in-depth review!
I purposefully left it out, costs and inclusions can vary as the ship moves into different regions. I did mention the price in my vlog though - you can check them out on the channel if you haven’t already. iFly and North Star are both free on Australian sailings when the ship is in port. At sea, there are costs that start at around US$19 per person. Bookings can be made using the Royal Caribbean app when you’re onboard.
Thank for the walk through. Do you know if the running track is soft or hard? Was thinking of bringing my inline skates😊
No problems! It was a hard surface, but I don’t know if I’d recommend skating on it - a few parts of it had a lot of deck chairs lining the sides and human obstacles haha.
We are from the UK and will be on this ship from 12th February 2023 out of Sydney
Hi stebear58, we`re from germany, and we`re going also at this day on bord. This is our second time on this ship
I’ll be on this cruise as well, excited to see this gorgeous ship. Great video shared here
Ah hopefully it wasn’t ruined by cyclone Gabriel because mine was the cruise right before yours
@@l.KTR.l no it was fine we had fab time
Hi loved the walk-through
can you let me know if the ship is wheelchair friendly going in December 23
Hi Gail, just replied to your email 😄
This is an awesome review, I just came back from carnival splender and have been on carnival spirit. This seems like the real deal. Do you feel like at times there’s too much to do on ovation of the seas?
Thanks for watching! Yes... sort of. I think you need to have a sufficient amount of time onboard to really get a chance to absorb, experience and enjoy all of the attractions. Having said that, 7 nights+ is probably good!
How can you tell what food and drinks are complimentary? Does paid food/drinks always show a price tag and complementary ones won't? Thanks, great video!
The website breaks down most of the inclusions, but in general all main meals and snacks are complimentary and you just need to pay for the specialty restaurants. Drinks like ice water, ice tea, black coffee, tea bags and juice at breakfast are all included as well. You have to pay for freshly squeezed juices, barista coffees, all sodas and alcohol. You can purchase drinks packages that cover some or all of these for a set fee as well.
How come Quantum Classes don't come with Aqua Theaters? Is it because it's not a Oasis Class?
That's right. They don't have the space for the Aqua Theatre.
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Thanks for watching!
Hi adrian any idea how much the drinks package will be on here from Sydney sailings?
Hi Leo. Royal has dynamic pricing, so there’s no set cost. Can vary between sailings and also at different times of the year, as they’ll usually discount cruise planner purchases during sale periods like Black Friday/Cyber Monday.
czcams.com/video/4EUzh6a3h2E/video.htmlsi=fkTGJTaKnnvz7swZ
One of my friends suggested to go to a specialty on embarkation day as they are cheaper and quieter. What is your opinion on that ?
Hi Tara. Its a great idea - you can login to your cruise planner and there will sometimes be a day 1 special for a specialty dining venue. Most people don’t go to the specialty restaurants on the first day, since it’s usually when sailaway is occurring and lots of people are outdoors so it can be great value.
Hi Adrian. Got off Ovation today. I thought it was unusual to have a library on upper level of 270, when you can only access this via stairs.
That’s a really good point, I actually didn’t pick that up while I was filming but now that you’ve mentioned it, that does seem strange!
were there any books in the library?? didn't see any in this and another ship tour video.
There is an accessible elevator.
Did you have to pay ifly or north star saling from Australia to pacific.
Only during sea days. They’re offered for free on port days and you can book using the Royal Caribbean app once you’re onboard.
I will be going aboard the Ovation in a few months and had some questions for someone who’s been on it:
- Is it safe to assume that most restaurants/cafes are complimentary?
- Do non-complimentary places accept cash?
- Are there any hidden gems among the ship? (Places that aren’t normally crowded, but are some of the best places to view the scenery or relax)
Yes, the majority of dining venues are complimentary. You can always find something to eat that is included in your fare - 24x7. Specialty venues are offered throughout the day and night for an extra fee, but these don't need to be relied on.
There is no cash onboard. All guests use a cruise card - this acts as your room key, but also as your method of payment for any purchases onboard such as drinks. All charges are allocated to your stateroom/cabin, and as part of your check in process you'll nominate a credit card that will be used for those charges. You can also use a cash account - which means you will deposit cash onto your account when you board the ship. That will give you a credit on your account which you can use. Any remaining balance will be refunded at the end of the cruise. A credit card is easier.
Hmm hidden gems that aren't crowded... I recommend grabbing a drink, and walking around the entire ship. You'll find your spot eventually 😁
Watch this video too, might help with some questions: czcams.com/video/3x7wvcWOYYA/video.html
@@TheCruiseandTravelGuy thank you so much for the reply!
Are there fewer bogans on Royal vs Carnival or P and O?
I’ve never counted…
Pool tables on a cruise ship, what a crack up .. balls must be rolling around all over the table !!!
Haha yes it’s a bit of an interesting concept. The Radiance Class ships had gyroscopically controlled pool tables!
Ok what’s the secret to get all the butterflies to fly away at once ? Going in June so need the intel. Thanks
As I was instructed... top right, bottom right, bottom left, top left...
Thats correct to have all the butterflies move at onc
Is there anywhere to get quality Steel Cut oatmeal for breakfast?
Hmm, I have to admit my knowledge of oatmeal is quite limited. I don't know about steel cut options onboard.
Too bad Chris Wong is no longer in her casino. We were on her sister Anthem this morning.
I would loved to have met Chris! I think I missed him by a couple of weeks.
HOW DO YOU GET ALL THE BUTTERFLIES TO FLY ST ONCE PLEASE TELL ME ANYONE I HAVE BEEN TRYING FOR FOREVER
Top right, bottom right, bottom left, top left. Tap them in that order and then watch 🤩
Do you know if you can get a one day drink package? Doing a 10 day cruise and that’s too much drinking for 10 days…
Hey Darren. Drinks packages are pretty much available for the whole cruise only. You can buy them onboard after the cruise has already started, but will still need to buy it for the rest of the cruise duration and from memory, there’s a cut off where they stop offering it after some amount of days once the cruise has already begun.
@@TheCruiseandTravelGuy cool thanks for the quick reply.
Any place onboard where some mates can enjoy a cigar?
There is. The outer promenade deck has an undercover smoking lounge.
Very cool! We are booked on Quantum of the seas in March next year. Can you tell me, if the ship sails only in Australian waters, is the currency in AUD or USD? Also, do you know if there is a Craps table in the casino in Quantum of the Seas?
Thanks for watching! I can’t recall if there was a Craps table (sorry) - the ship will operate with USD as it’s onboard currency while it operates in Australian waters.
Yes there is one craps table in the casino and the onboard currency is USD -
We. Just got off the ship yesterday from the Christmas / New Year cruise it was fantastic except the the AU to USD was a very bad rate (my suggestion is get your USD from your bank) we missed one of our ports due to bad weather (was not that bad but for safety …..) missed out on my fishing trip due to bad weather - cost refunded as a credit - found it difficult to book group dinners as the crew seemed to be very new and were totally confused but tried their best, we missed out on a few shows due to restaurant staff being slow (as most were new) so I advise going to show first then dinner (took over 2 hours to get meals 🧐) We were a small group and they actually missed a persons meal one night! So speak up if that happens, drinks were always messed up it was quite funny as we were severed what ever they gave, it was like a Mistry drink (but at $9.50 US for a Jim Beam and coke they do add up in Aussie dollars) we could not order photos for other members of our group (even though there were all my children) because facial recognition or something so unfortunately we missed out on a heap of special photos so try and take a few on your own phone. We did have a great time and just pushed passed the obstacles (got to make the most of it donut you 😃)
Be very carful my daughter caught COVID on day 6 and spent the remaining time quarantined in her room 🙁
If a room has a yellow sticker at the top of the door that person has tested positive - I seen quite a few leave their room and wondered around even though quarantined! So be aware of that.
We showed up to our room to find other people in the room - as the key is on your door when you first arrive - we got it sorted and they went to find their correct room, they did make quite a mess in just an hour or so!! And they also took our room key my wife’s name is Fay so I’m pretty sure these 2 guys must have know they were in the wrong room!! 😂 not a good start but we turned a blind eye to get and fixed up the room ourselves - we had to chase them down to get our room keys back - fancy taking some else’s key in a different name Shane Shane 🤓
PS craps table can be seen at 17:51
PSS/ butterfly’s - press all 4 corner butterfly to see all of them take off! Was amazing
@@Seven-Seven-77 Awesome, thanks for letting me know. What other tables did the casino have, other than the usual Blackjack and Roulette?
I booked for Seattle-Alaska cruise yesterday.
I am an Indian vegetarian. Will I get veg food for 7 lunches and dinners without getting bored with those salads!
I think so, there was a large vegetarian section in the Windjammer from what I recall, plus vegetarian options in the main dining room. The kitchen is normally quite accommodating with dietary requests as well.
@@TheCruiseandTravelGuy
Thanks for your reply! I appreciate it.
It’s helpful info!
Yes and they have curries in the windjammer. I heard you can also make special request at Main Dining Room too
Is this the biggest cruise ship to come to Sydney or is there bigger one
Ovation of the Seas (and sister Quantum from Brisbane) are the biggest ships to sail to Australia at the moment.
Biggest ship in the southern hemisphere mate
Where were the guest services servers?
I filmed very early (around 6am) and I don’t think the desk was manned at that time.
quick question cruise guy just outta curiosity, is this your job? if so thats awesome!
Hey there. It's become my full time job over the past couple of months 😁
@@TheCruiseandTravelGuy thats so good and fortunate
Where does this ship cruise to
Australia/NZ during the southern hemisphere summer and Alaska during the northern hemisphere summer
How is the ship so empty
I try to film early so I can avoid crowds and it helps get a clearer picture of the ship
Howd you get in so quietly? Where is everyone?
Literally a ghost ship..
lol I film in the morning, early in the morning.
