Yeah, that's a good idea. Use the lighter full of butane to move around the burning ice
He agrees
The tip of a lighter is just a long metal tube with a smaller plastic tube in it. (and a sparker) Unless the trigger is depressed there's no butane in the end of a stick lighter.
Shut up
Definitely got some Crazy Russian Hacker vibes from this one! xD
@the bridges so? That doesn't mean you can't do something that's completely safe to do. I do it ALL the time when I use one of these to start all kinds of fires. Barbecue, campfire, bonfire. There's nothing wrong with using a simple lighter to poke a simple fire idiot.

@Fortnite Replay of course it's residue but isn't all burnt food just residue of carbon?
@@electricheartpony true
@@electricheartpony Not really, burnt food is often the result of other chemicals breaking down and being burned off, leaving behind the carbon atoms. In the case of the water, there is no carbon present until the calcium carbide is introduced and leaves behind a film of carbon.

One of nature's most dramatic love/hate relationship. Water that loves sodium but the sodium just cannot put up with it.

Oh no, not more Orbeez videos! Just when you though it was safe to go back on CZcams. :-)
this looks more fun than playing video games
My grandparents old home used to have acetylene lights by using a calcium carbide in a gas generator which would drip water on chunks of CaC2. My grandfather final rewired the house in '47 using the gas lines as conduits and the old gas fixtures fitted with light sockets for the bulbs. My dad complained that electric lights weren't as good a light as the acetylene gas lamps to read by.
The things I like about him:
1. He even watches fellow youtubers's videos...
2. And he even explains the exeoeriments he is going to do with an experiment
Try lighting up potassium and put it in water then start putting sodium metal into the water too
Scrot Mail Playz no the other way around first put a big piece of sodium in water actually many pieces then let it burn , blow up a little bit then put some potassium metal in there in theory it should displace the NAOH and form sodium metal temporarily before it gets burnt by the water again .....
Douglas Boucheix it’s just an experiment I think may give out something we may not know in chemistry
I think
Scrot Mail Playz should make a good light show
Douglas Boucheix not just a light show
It also will create a light show on your face if you stay near(Possible)

That's laundry detergent, I believe...
As well as osmotic pressure, I suspect the sodium heating up helped to thermally degrade the polymer where it was in contact, permitting even more rapid release of free water.

ARE YOU THE GRAND GRAND GRAND GRAND CHILD OF ALBERT EINSTEIN???
It's a doubt for me as you are so genius....
Here is a trick, I wanted to see what happens if the sodium exploded underwater.
I used a metal puncture repair kit which already has small holes in it.
I put in a pellet of sodium and clamped it with a G clamp and dropped it into a 4 gallon drum of water.
There were a few bubbles and then the drum of water jumped into the air - silently.
The water was pushed upwards and the drum followed it.
The metal canister was exploded over the ends of the G clamp.
There was no bang, the drum jumped up about a metre and then fell down.
Four gallons of water would have weighed forty pounds.
I'm not a chemist at all but I would loved to see some reaction formulas when the carbide was burning. Like: how is it making Acetilene and how does the molecule even look like?
So looking at Wikipedia:
Calcium carbide:
The pure material is colorless, while pieces of technical-grade calcium carbide are grey or brown and consist of about 80-85% of CaC2 (the rest is CaO (calcium oxide), Ca3P2 (calcium phosphide), CaS (calcium sulfide), Ca3N2 (calcium nitride), SiC (silicon carbide), etc.). In the presence of trace moisture, technical-grade calcium carbide emits an unpleasant odor reminiscent of garlic.
Applications of calcium carbide include manufacture of acetylene gas, generation of acetylene in carbide lamps, manufacture of chemicals for fertilizer, and steelmaking.
Acetylene is C2H2.
I guess that Ca disolves in the water or burns a bit.
Literally I am going to school rn lol
Edit: 2 hour delay :D
We don't have school shoot! It's a break! Unless you don't live in USA...
What happens? 🤔
24 view
“Top 10 weapons too brutal for war”
I was thinking there was a tiny amount of reaction at the contact points due to contact and/or vapour kickstarting the reaction, and when it got hot, the vapour would come out faster making it run away, and get hot enough for the polymer to disintegrate and let out even more water... But I guess it could be a chemical/diffusion effect as he mentioned, pulling water straight out.
If orbeezs are 99.9% water, then boil them 👍👍
I tried that in my home
@@Prajwal____ what happened

Well that was a little fun to watch, when i put those orbeez in a bowl, and then heated that bowl from below, a very weird sound started to come, i left it for 2min, the surface which was touching the bowl got stuck there, it was really very hot, so then i took a stick to take it off, and when it was not stuck there, i moved the bowl such that if there was a marble then it should come in a circular motion with respt to the bowl, then what, the orbeez while performing a circular motion made a very wierd sound, that sound was like a machine gun firing with some bombs blasting in between, they dont want to be in circular motion, if u move the bowl slowly then those orbeez will be stuck where they are, for this spinning experiment i took only 3-4 orbeez, and also while spinning those orbeez will tend to jump outside the bowl while u are moving the bowl...
If humans are 95 percent water then boil them.

@The Action Lab This reminds me of a mystery that has yet to be solved. Why does *molten salt (sodium chloride)* explode when it hits water? I think you should do a video on that, but *please be very careful!* Backyard scientist showed that it's significantly more explosive than sodium metal on water!!
I have theorized that it has something to do with the leidenfrost effect breaking down, since the surface of the liquid salt dissolves/reacts in water. I don't think that's the whole story though.
I see that characteristic sooty black smoke from the acetylene. I've done some oxy acetylene welding and lighting the acetylene does just that.
Please put pure potassium in water.
Please.

I thought if there was any reaction, it would be because it reacted with little water outside the orbeez which melt the casing allowing it to react with more water which essentially cause a chain reaction. I never took chemistry, though, so I am in no position to say anything on this.

My question is: Would it be different had you laid out the orbeez in a single layer on a baking pan to let their outside dry *then* put the CaC2 in them? I figure that the water that had been drawn out by the sodium may have facilitated the reaction with the CaC2.
I wonder just how many possible experiments with Orbeez can be left lol
