    Critically acclaimed musician Ted Yoder is widely considered “the Bela Fleck of the hammered dulcimer." Ted is a National Hammered Dulcimer champion. He’s released five beloved and critically acclaimed solo albums, and become a master educator of the instrument.
    Ted has been profiled in the Kearney Hub, Huffington Post, and on NPR’s All Things Considered show, among many other features, profiles, and reviews in regional and
    national tastemaking outlets. On Wednesday, August 24, 2016, Ted became something of a household name when a Facebook Live video of him from his Live From The Orchard series playing Tears For Fears’ “Everybody Wants To Rule The World” went viral. The video rocketed up to 53 million views in four days

    Oh man, I hope Simon and/or Garfunkel sees this and tells you you're a fool for suggesting they'd disapprove! :)

      Horns of Pan Thank you so much. :) I'm a bit of self deprecating artists so it's hard for me to think folks will like my arrangements as much as I enjoy creating them. So thank you for the vote of confidence. I think I've seen a few of your videos. I'll have to go check them out again. Keep at it. It's all about the music and so little about us.

I'm slowly working on a version of this song myself. As there are so many covers, I need to get it right. I would very much appreciate being able to sample your performance in my own work, crediting you accordingly of course. Please let me know if this is acceptable. Thanks again for this cover. • @TedYoderMusic
      @TedYoderMusic  Před 10 lety

      Honestly I think Russell has done a few upgrades bit he's not too quick or fond about it. He had added an extra brace to the new models that mine doesn't have just to be safe. If you have a RCE I would call or email and ask one but I wouldn't guarantee any specific response. Russell's very kind and nice about things but he is careful. The extra range is really great though.

    Happy Birthday!~! That was AWESOME!! I loved it so much!
    I just have one question.... What made this hammered dulcimer sound so much deeper in tone than others? Is it the type of wood that it is made from? Did you have an electronic device to help the sound for the making of this film? Or is it a higher quality of hammered dulcimer?
    Thank you so much!!

    • @TedYoderMusic
      @TedYoderMusic  Před 8 lety +1

      I'm sorry I'm just getting to answering you. Missed it.
      No electronics involved. It's a mahogany too and higher quality build. Also there's just more range on this model than most you've heard. This one is 4.5 octaves and the standard model is 3.

    Well done then! I find I can do that a bit on the piano, but the non-linear scale configuration of these seems as though it would make that kind of thing more difficult. Do you agree? Also, I have never played an HD but have wanted to get one for years. Is a 16/15 a good start? What affordable ones would you recommend?

    • @TedYoderMusic
      @TedYoderMusic  Před 10 lety

      The only time that I use sheet music to learn a song is usually on classical pieces. These pop songs, I usually figure it out myself or at least get the chord progression from some place on the web and then arrange from there.
