This game doesn't just hold your hand, it handcuffs itself to you and just drags you around.
You can tell that whoever wrote the game's story and dialog thought he was some kind of genius philosopher that people should be grateful for listening to. I get the distinct impression that they were told they were a "good writer" in middle school and never progressed further than that.
@@ForeverLaxx Well I don't really know since they skipped most of it, but it really looks more like it needed to get out of the way of the game. It doesn't seem particularly pretentious. Feels more like... some kind of Disney B-movie or something. And the language I think fits the core idea, more or less, so. It's silly but doesn't feel like that's unintentional or even out of place -- you either like it or you don't. They should have cut out half of (if not all) the cutscenes and filled you in through gameplay. But then most game developers are bad about that. Quick fix would be to make most of them optional. Cut out this flashback crap I think too.

Reminds me of Little Big World 3. Me and my big brother were raging as we screamed at the TV that we just wanted to play the damn game already. 1 and 2 were so much better. Moral of the story - Don't fucking overdo it when you actually get a famous person to voice over your game, at the expense of the time and a fun experience.

I fucking love how Chris starts the game with an innocent "I wonder why this has mixed reviews?" and very gradually starts to get fucking disgusted by the game.
all I remembered about this series was the constant complaining, so hearing it start with "why does it have mixed reviews?" and their excitement in the character creator was hilarious
They started enjoying it towards the end

@@Deletingthisaccountrightnow the baby talk bullshit in this game made it bad. Besides that, the game is alright. I ended up beating it with a trainer because I was tired of it, also skipped 80% of dialogue because I cannot stand the gibberish voice acting. I'm glad I did not pay to play it

My favorite part of the game is definitely still when the pissflompty fought the horrible hombompus in the Gobobop castle. The vigorous love making between Dromphly and Titapulah was a bit awkward though, especially when he goomblied into his honkler.
I hope biomutant 2 continues their story, and shows what happened at zonkompis mountain and yappabler ranch. If they don't I'm gonna be pissed off...I need to know what happened to these sniveling little critters. Perhaps they'll all get eaten by the romtompler or the yankankus
The insane amount of narration is the baffling part for me. The voice actor must have spent like a year recording all of this nonsense. Only for it to get really annoying really fast.
If they developers loved dialogue so much they should have just made an audiobook lol

What kills this game is the leveling. It reminds me of borderlands where it doesn’t matter if you get stronger because the enemies health bars and damage scale up constantly..
Borderlands leveling is like an arms race at least lol

Level scaling is a plague upon open world RPG design
Isn't the point of leveling in Borderlands to get skill points which lets you get the edge over the enemies that are now scaling with you? Especially at end game uvhm content, how your points are allocated matters arguably more than the weaponry in your inventory
Generally love leveling and upgrades in games. It must be satisfying. Has to be. I want to orgasm every time I level in a game.
this game is confused about what it wanted to be and suffers greatly for it.
I love that the most replayed part of this is the nit picker part
All in all, this game lacked impact in its animations, had no feedback in its attacks, AND sucked in general. I literally forgot this existed until this compilation came up! And to those who say, "this game isn't that bad" you're right it's not bad, but it's not good either
The questing was awful too, the fact that it lets you know exactly how many iterations of each open world quest exist on the map by tracking it like (3/25) really makes it feel like a grocery list

47:30 Tomar uses that word so much doing his "personal side project" that he doesn't see anything wrong with that word. It almost has no meaning to him cause that word is used as naturally as breathing to him.
I remember seeing the ads for the game and it gave off a somewhat gritty scifi/post-apocalyptic feeling but I’m actually much happier with how stupid it really is. Completely forgot about it until their playthrough, kinda wanted to see more if it would get more ridiculous lol.
Also Chris' rat story around 8:40 is absolutely incredible lmfao. I love visualizing an Irishmen sneaking up on a rat sitting on a birdfeeder with a shotgun.
I sunk a few hours into this game. It has moments that are so fun and exactly what I wanted… then moments where it just feels empty and gutless. It’s so hard to explain why it wasn’t as fun as it should have been…

I love watching them play this because it was exactly my experience. I kept playing but was struggling so hard to find out why it wasn't fun to play even though I never wanted to not play it lmao
In your opinion what was the main missing piece to actually making it a good game?
@@DragonTamer31K as someone with the same experience so far to give you an answer it's the throttling of controls and the fact that their kharma system is like all kharma systems post Fable 3. You can be "bad" but all that really means is that you screwed people. No actual control over a "different" ending. I won't spoil it for you if you haven't beaten it but imo it's only worth a play through as the PSN free month game.
For comparison Fallout 3 and New Vegas had a much better system especially New Vegas but 3 gets a strong honorable mention for the thing you can do with the nuke lol.
This is definitely the most crumbumbliest of bummerhungspins I've ever done retitspy spugloogin.

It's not bad, it's one of those games that it's decent but then a sequel comes and it's amazing.
If it's a modern game and it's not a Fromsoft or Lego Star Wars game the answer is always no don't buy it.

I loved finding unique weapons in old fallouts, 4 made it really weird with the legendary system and made really broken weapons and armor occasionally, like bleeding shotguns that do the bonus for every single pellet and can kill bosses in seconds because nothing in the game has a counter to it. They have some unique things that actually do different things that are completely different like the championship bat that has a chance of making an enemy go flying, but there isn’t as many as the old ones. 3 and NV didn’t only have variants of standard weapons and armor like 4 but actually had guns that were completely unique weapons and armor sets that functioned like nothing else in the game, a mod I had on Xbox that got deleted added tons of old school fallout items on 4 and even added actual unique effects on the unique things they already had in the game. I think they had problems with it because it conflicted with their stupid creation club, which is just a shop for things that should already be in the game that shouldn’t be literal dollars per item, that just pretty much did what the mod did except worse and paid for.

I was watching WickedWiz's video on Biomutant and Tomar totally called it when he speculated that the devs made all their decisions as a group instead of letting one person decide. The result is disparate motifs, mechanics, and ideas that do not blend together well

man biomutant was fucking wack, not because it was awful, just because for every one cool thing in the game there was one stupid shitty thing to balance it out.

In this entire one hour video there is probably only 20 minutes of actual solid gameplay, not counting the times where you are just running between cutscenes with nothing to do in between. Im blown away by this, I didnt realize how bad the hand holding was until I watched this xD

This game goes out of it way to establish your character having amnesia AND has multiple unskippabe flashbacks. The inconsistency in writing and mechanics killed this game.
Why do they have that narrator just voice every single dialogue narrator style? Just have the characters talking in their silly voices and then have the text pop up saying what they say.
Tomar is actually a brutalist that enjoys tearing games down to their very cores

Sad this game got mixed reviews I was hyped since like it got announced all the way back in like 2017
I would be sadder at the game being kinda shit, it was certainly too ambitious for the small team it had, but there's also baffling pacing decisions which just makes the whole thing worse.
