Willie Pep - Was an American professional boxer who held the World Featherweight championship twice between the years of 1942 and 1950. Pep boxed a total of 1,956 rounds in the 241 bouts during his 26-year career, a considerable number of rounds and bouts even for a fighter of his era. His final record was 229-11-1 with 65 knockouts. Pep, known for his speed, finesse and elusiveness, is considered to be one of the best fighters of the 20th century; after his 199th win, Kid Campeche described his experience by saying, "Fighting Willie Pep is like trying to stomp out a grass fire." Pep was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1990. Pep was voted as the No. 1 featherweight of the 20th century by the Associated Press and ranked the No. 1 featherweight of all-time by the International Boxing Research Organization in 2005.

The greatest Featherweight of all time in my opinion! Willie Pep was the perfect pure boxer, along with his lightning fast combinations he had beautiful footwork and an excellent defensive skill set to match so that's what I wanted to showcase here. He'll always go down in history as one of the all time P4P greats. PayPal donations: hanzagod@mail.com / www.patreon.com/haNZAgod
Gotta love the daily dose of pep
Thanks for the upload brother! I’ll be sure to pay my dues and donate ✊

@@hanzagod btw, great video, as usual
I remember my dad once saying, "Trying to hit Willie Pep was like trying to pick up water with a pair of pliers. "
That’s good🤣. His trainer told him to act like a punch was the police chasing him
😂😂😂😂
😂
The old trainers used to say he moves so good you couldn't catch his ass with a handful of rice

It’s always a good day when hanzagod uploads
facts
Well spoken like true gentleman.
Yes Always want to go out here Box Myself a Couple of Rounds
Pep's footwork was unreal, only 30 seconds in and can see this.
You restore the reputations of legends, who aren’t given enough respect.
100%. Never even heard of this guy until now, and now I'm intrigued.
I got Pep in my Mt. Rushmore of boxing. He did things that fighters to this day havent mastered.
haNzagod strikes again with another classic... Pep perfected the science of "hitting and not getting hit" if you ask me.
It truly is amazing. And all of that talent perfected more than 70 years ago. Not one boxer since has been able to replicate the fluidity of Willie Pep
@@Nabooru956 yes sir 💯🥊
Willie Pep... Absolutely insane evading skills, footwork and reflexes. Also often he uses the forward pressure of the opponent's against them and drag and push them with the help of their own energy away. Haven't seen many boxers who do that in such perfection. Definitely one of the greatest featherweight's and pound for pound boxers of all times.
He was even an idol for Bruce Lee and his development of his Jeet Kune Do.
This man's skill set is timeless. Any era he would be a champion. I wish I was born in his time, so I could have seen him live. 😔 I bet the tape do him no justice and the tapes are amazing 🙌
haNZAgod is the Willie Pep of pugilistic source - seamless, masterful, and incomparable.
Nicely worded...
This is an absolutely beautiful display of the sweet science 🧬
His footwork n defense were incredible. Great job. He was very special I had not a Time that really cared about him. He was great and a very hard time.
Thanks for this. Pep indeed was great. And notice how he avoids punches through guile and skill not running around the ring like a track star. What a great fighter. His trainer taught and refined his style.
"He who hits and runs away lives to fight another day". Do you dislike that quote? Do you know who said it?
It was a man named Willie Pep.
Pep’s trainer was Bill Gore. He also was the trainer of another great who never became champion, Del Flanagan a WW from St Paul MN. His style was as illusive as Willie’s. Flanagan beat 4 or 5 former world champions. Like Pep he was very difficult to hit.
OMG 😲😱 WHAT AN AMAZING FIGHTER!! HIS MOVES ARE AMAZING!!
Thanks for the video!!
Always good to watch Pep in action. He was such an artist and his record before his accident was incredible.
Truly one of the pioneers of defensive boxing, great work as always bro. 👍 ✌️
Willie Pep's footwork is poetry in motion
Great upload of the immortal Pep.
The dude was a god damn wizard....
That turn he does on his opponents is so smooth. Very similar to Duran
Smooth as silk and teflon slick. He was so far ahead of his time. Never out of position. Beautiful to watch. Thank you hanZAgod. Another wonderful installment. Have you ever considered a collaboration with Lee Wylie???😁🥊
The GOAT defensively, truly beautiful to watch
RIP to Willie Pep he had very great defensive abilities in the ring, his hands were fast, he was a champion , any coach would be proud to have Willie as there fighter
Amazing video man. One of the dopest beats with one of the deadliest dancers the sport ever seen!
I admire boxers who transform a sport into art. Willie Pep did it and it is shown in this video. Great work!
juanindiocua. YEA BUT TODAYS FIGHT FANS, ( ALOT OF THEM ANYWAY )ONLY LIKE TOE TO TOE FIGHTERS. THEY DON'T APPRECIATE SLICK QUICK FOOTED FIGHTERS LIKE WILLIE PEP, THEY CALL GUYS LIKE HIM BORING.
An absolute master of his craft. Watching these films are a super treat.
I've been waiting on this from someone like you. Awesome video. Pep is possibly my favorite outside of modern day guys like Loma
A true legend and one of the Greatest boxers of all time he was beautiful too watch!!
Will 'o' the wisp was peps ring moniker and you see exactly why from this fabulous footage!!!👍☺️
Would kill to have seen Pep vs Salvador Sanchez, man..
Fuck that would've been awesome
Quite possibly the greatest defensive boxer ever
What a man of Gifts, speed Kills.
The reason the saying "Pep in his step" came to be ❗❗
Not true actually. The phrase is much older then the age Pep was alive. But in boxing history and terms, Willie Pep fits that phrase perfectly. THE BEST footwork in boxing history imo!
Beautiful boxing 🥊 you can not hit, what is not there too be hit. The sweet lessons of boxing 💯✊🏿🖤✊🏿⚔️
Another Piece Of Gold 🏆
Another brilliant video truly capturing all the skills of Willie Pep s/o to Hanzagod 💯.
this Legend won a round without throwing a single punch.
You won't believe it, i have been watching your other videos of him, and just like that you blessed us with another one
You can’t forget to put the music in the description! They’re always great workout music
What is this song?
Incredible
Uploaded at the perfect time!!!
Wow. 2 things: Willie's style and your style. Well done.
Incredible 🥊💥
I tell all my boxing fan-friends that this may be the true G.O.A.T.! If not he is still in the top 4 or 5 at the very least.
I beg u HanzaGod pls start linking the music you use in your videos 🙏🏿. Nonetheless great video as usual.
One of the greatest!
Ever heard “ put some pep in your step” this guy is the reason why.
Poetry in motion
Gotta love the daily dose of pep. Thank you for the video hanzagod. Pep is my second best featherweight behind sandy saddler but both men are as incredible as each other (often find myself enjoying Pep more at points). Maybe a saddler highlights would be a cool video since you often don’t hear his name. Just a suggestion and I’ll love any video you make buddy🙏👍
Sand and pepper aren’t nice matchups
Pep was better boxer saddler had power
@@forourlightafflictionwhich6470 agreed. Pep was great at everything and saddler was limited in a few things mostly defence. On a favourites I have pep higher but on resume I have saddler just because most of peps greatest wins were against the same person at points. It’s hard to explain but those two swap around a lot. I can agree that pep was overall the better fighter in terms of defence, combos and all.
@@Boxeo250 yep pep learnt that the hard way. But in there second fight it was said to be peps best performance which wasn’t recorded 🤣
@@UntouchableBreakdowns if only all old school footage was recovered but I’m not surprised if Antonio finds footage of Barbados joe Walcott
WoW...what a Boxer
he makes it look so easy...beautiful
Perfect song choice!
Great song to pair the video with!!!
Wow. Just wow.
One of a kind.
Dude’s head is massive and yet, seemingly untouchable.
"The only boxer that I would pay to watch"
Joe Louis
And he did say that!
The great Willie Pep! What footwork moves did he used?
Along with Niccolino Loche and Pernell Whitaker, the most invulnerable and intangible defensive fighter of all times.
Great! A lot like Locche.
Footwork is your first line of defense
Lomachenko , Johnny Tapia, Orlando canizales with some Barry McGuigan all in one. Love the rag time music. About time boxing footage with out hip hop.
In constant motion
Pep got that back step fighting and side step, my goodness
A great video displaying Willie Pep's genius. What's this song though?
Mononome - Embrace
His win vs ATG Saddler is one of the greatest wins in boxing, perhaps top 3 alongside Duran vs Leonard and Ali vs Foreman
Was it Willie who won a round without ever throwing a shot?
Nice vid Hanz
Step like Pep; Move like Cruz!
I see willie Was also a great counterstriker!!! Smooth as f🤑
Pfp one of the absolute best ever
❤️
I think Salvador Sanchez would beat him in a mythical matchup but pep was definitely a skilled fighter and all time great.
I say pep would of won but Sanchez was a great fighter and a fantastic champion and I think would of become one of the best Mexicans ever if he didn’t pass so soon. Believe he made 9 defences in 3 years which is out standing for his time and the fights he had for his time were just as great
@@UntouchableBreakdowns even though he died so young he is still generally recognized in the top 5 Mexican boxers of all time, heck, top 3 even! Incredible isn't it?
@@omniking842 insane to me. I’ve seen hundreds and thousands of boxers so I’d roughly have him in the top 10s. But for someone so young with so many fighters under his belt was incredible. The dude was a great counter puncher, boxer and all.
Sanchez could barely squeak by Ruben Castillo, and that was the best pure boxer he ever faced. Pep would box his ears off.
@@morganlee2806
..........and Pep lost 3 of 4 fights against Sandy Sadler. Sadler was big, strong, rugged. Sanchez would have been all over pep. Pep didn’t have the power to keep Sanchez off of him.
Most wanted fantasy fight for me would be Willie Pep vs Vasiliy Lomachenko
The ref would have to referee from outside the ring. They'd be moving all over the place.
True haha, one of the most agile fighters of all time, both of them. I think pep wins the agility contest thoough
Dose anyone have a notion of what fight 2:40 is from, fairly sure iv never seen that footage before.
put a little pep in your step
🥊🔥🥊🔥🥊🔥
Plz tell me the name of this song, holy moly it Slaps!!

They don't make em like this no more✌✌✌
Oh my he is the shadow in shadow boxing that hit's you back
Willie Pep mastered Ultra Instinct before it had a name
Reminds me of this fighter named Ivan Calderon!
What song is this?
Pep was a unhittable object.
Hitting Willie Pep when he was moving away must have been like trying to swat a pesky mosquito. When Pep moved in it must have been like being attacked by a swarm.
We are looking at Art being created 😇
I remember your dad. He was the best feather weight champion!
Classy af
💯🥊💯

is that Bryan Callen in the thumbnail?
Brian Callen for hands
Trying to hit Willy is like eating a soup Sandwich , it runs all over and it hard to hold on too.
Damn I'm a day late
FUCKYEAH
Italiano ❤
Pernell must have emulated his style, undeniably similar
I don't believe Pernell ever mentioned Pep, he probably only knew him by name I would imagine. I think he just had incredible natural talent and having a great trainer like George Benton certainly helped.
鬼火のステップ
Guglielmo Papaleo from ITALY!
Crispy willy! Sounds wrong but eh well
Put the shrimp on the barbe
Muy parecido a nicolino locche
