    The Olympus Pen E-P1 announced on 16 June 2009 is Olympus Corporation's first camera that adheres to the Micro Four Thirds (MFT) system design standard. It retailed for $899 at the time ($1200 adjusted for inflation), I bought it for $50 on eBay (got very lucky).

      @@333_studios ive been looking at this camera and the photo samples, NO WAY is it worth the hype its currently at. You can ALMOST afford a sony a6000 for the current price.

    Very nice video. I bought a Nos E-P1 in 2022, combined with the 7Artisan 18/6,3 it makes my daily street combo. Love it. Regards

    New subscriber here! I'm using an EPL1 and it's an amazing little everyday camera. The colours in the jpeg and raw, even the noise in high ISO it's beautiful. I'm using that camera a lot for artistic work (not for working on a event) and one amazing thing it's the 3 axis stabilizer in 2010... I can't believe that, I'm using all kind of lenses in a extremely cheap mirrorless. Great work! Saludos desde Argentina

    Very nice review. 5 or 6 years ago, I found an EPL1 at a pawn shop for around 25 bucks. Came with a battery and lens. I could not pass it up and it works perfectly.

    Very cool video! I was recently on the hunt for more pocket-friendly compact digital camera. My main shooter is a Fuji xt3, and I wanted to stick to that system. I settled on the xa2 which I scored for about USD $250. I get to use all my lenses on that little guy. The 16 mp Bayer sensor is sufficiently different from the xtrans in my xt3.
    Great video and a pretty cool steal (for now lol). I'll keep an eye on your channel!

    • @KenDFilms
      @KenDFilms  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Thanks for watching! I haven't had the chance to use the Fuji system yet, as I've mostly been within the M43 system. I know the X series almost has a cult following. Those older models still tend to be pretty pricey too. Do you have a suggestion for an easy entry if I ever want that Fuji experience?

    • @junaidmalik1809
      @junaidmalik1809 Před 5 měsíci

      @@KenDFilms lol yup, I won't deny the cultish following. For an affordable entry point into the x system, your options are pretty limited because of the current craze. I'd say the consumer oriented A series, from a-1 through to 3. Prices aren't yet insane for these ones. They get knocked for their inferior build quality which is fair. The build on my xt3 is leagues higher than my xa2. But what you get is the colour science and essentially the same sensor that goes into the xe and even the xpro lines. It's the stock Bayer version of the sensor and not the fancy Fuji xtrans upgrade, as I'm sure my fellow Fuji shooters will be quick to point out. But that distinction doesn't seem to be that discernable, especially since you'll get the core Fuji simulation filters anyway with the lower line. You could always pair it with the ttartisan 27mm f2.8 with af or save more and get a manual focus ttartisan.
      Another consideration is selling up within the system. I got a used x100s before demand went totally crazy. After having fun with it for over a year, I flipped it and it funded the lion's share of the cost for my xt3 and Fuji 23mm f2 weather sealed and af lens.
      The value on my xt3 has since gone up notably. Though I'm hard pressed to sell it to fund another upgrade. I love it for the time being, and it's more camera than my abilities as a hobbyist. Still, I am pretty curious about their medium format line... Especially the GFX 50R... It'll have to wait, as that jump means committing to new lenses, and investing more out of pocket cash, when I should be just getting out there and snapping more pics with my existing gear.

    These older ML cameras are the best. I picked up a Panasonic GF1 (similar to it's sibling the GM1 and many of the Olympus cameras from the same time) for about $70 used with less than 1000 shots on the shutter. Great camera for just carrying around with you. Now I just need to find some lenses for it. My only concern is that some of the newest lenses may not work with the body as it's last firmware update was from about 2010-2011 even though I think the m4/3 lens spec is pretty open and others have told me most lenses should work regardless of age.

    • @KenDFilms
      @KenDFilms  Před 5 měsíci

      I've been a Panasonic user for almost a decade now, my main gear now is the Lumix S5ii. I'd love to explore more of the older Panasonic mirrorless. I almost bought a G1, but it felt a little too bulky for me. I'll look into the GF1 if I can find a good deal on it. Sadly I sold most of my newer M43 lenses when I upgraded to full frame. But I'm actively looking for small lenses that still make the whole camera pocketable. Thanks for your comment!

    Do you have any tips for manual focus with the LCD screen? I have an EPL-1 and got my first manual lens - TT Artisans 25mm f2. The magnification feature helps, but still very challenging outdoor in sunlight.

    • @KenDFilms
      @KenDFilms  Před měsícem +1

      It's always gonna be a challenge without a viewfinder and using on a LCD screen that's not bright enough. In bright sunlight, the only thing that really helps me is shooting is something like f/8. Less shallow DOF means it's easier to focus. The image is usually sharper too at f/5.6 or above

    $50? lol, not in australia, thats for sure. cheapest bodies are sitting around the $200, while some of the usual japanese sellers have some listed at close to $1k. I do enjoy watching these videos as they pop up, but since covid and then the digicam craze, there's now no such thing as a cheap camera. Relatively cheap, yes, but not cheap.
