This brought me to tears, it embodies the feminine element so well. The bird was for sure a metaphor for the child she had lost. Much like she created and raised that child, she nurtured the bird. But there came a time when she had to let go of both of them. After the bird entered her world it couldn't survive, but you can see in the way she held it to her chest, that she considered it her own child. At the end, when she returns it to its world, she is tempted to go as well but realises that would do her no good and simply lets it go on its own. Thought she suffered a miscarriage and didn't get to see her child 'leave the nest' she got to experience all of the phases of motherhood through the bird. Absolutely beautiful.

My god this was beautiful Because the woman was unable to have a baby the bird came to her and she began to treat it like her own child and the way she painted the meadow was representing how a parent builds this ground for their children to grow on, then the bird shows its love and gratitude and finally the woman has to let the bird go because one day a parent has to see their children walk on their own :')

Actually not a miscarriage because she was fully pregnant in the pictures. It was either a still birth or the child died soon after it was born. After a certain point, I believe it's 6 months, it's not considered a miscarriage anymore.

And what it has taught me, is that we all experience loss & grief in different ways. And there is no right or wrong way in dealing with that loss...it's as individual as we are.

She hates talking about it and I kinda wish she would because I know she is still grieving. Sooo beautiful. I have had a miscarriage and just recently lost my most precious fur baby, my soul doggie of 12 yrs and just yesterday said goodbye to a beloved Aunt who had alzheimers. So this brought floods of tears. And we know we need to let go and we know our babies - be they 2 legged or 4 legged - have only shifted into another dimension or returned to source, as we ourselves will do, but nevertheless, we miss them and it hurts. But it certainly helps to imagine letting them go into a beautiful setting such as that painting on the wall. Thank you for the most beautiful, short but deeply meaningful movie xx

A dream may die, but it can always be the beginning of a new dream. We shouldn't let that new dream die as well.
That's the message I got from this. I'm probably mistaken, but meh, art is done to be interpreted in multiple ways. Great animation.

There was a girl in my senior class last year that wants to be a kindergarten teacher and she told me and a friend over the holidays that a few years prior she learned something about her ovaries, had a surgery and probably won't ever conceive. I don't remember what she said it was but it was so painful even to hear having known what she wanted to do as a career.

+pigeon Once you become a teacher, you have no need to fret. You have many beautiful kids to spread love and care to. I never wanted kids of my own, and my ovaries are also in a bad way. My doctor told me if I was pregnant I might die. But I started working with children, and I find it to be more satisfying than if I had kids of my own. Children aren't just cute, but they cost money, time, and energy. At work, I expend and give all of that, but I like that I can come home to a peaceful place at the end of the day.

sally eve The fact that she continued to up her heart to the pain that comes with the joys of having children even after losing four, shows what a beautiful person she is and how vast her heart is. It is heart wrenching that it seem like the best people; those who love unconditionally, those who give constantly; those are tirelessly content and kind, are the ones who are tested and suffer immense pain. But there is a tragic beauty in pain. The Suffering is thrusted into a state of vulnerability, becoming an opportunity for another to practice kindness. The pain they feel can later connect them to others, make them more understanding and empathetic, and/or enable them to appreciate the Grace's; simple acts of kindness and beauty, in every day Life to a degree that they would not be capable of otherwise. I know that this sounds sappy and cheesy.
      C. S. Lewis once said "If you are going to love, you are going to get hurt... to love is to be vulnerable...but it's still worth it" (my wording not his)

Fun fact: The bird in this film is a mythological creature known as the Caladrius. It is said to be able to take sickness or pain from someone else into its own self and once it leaves, both it and the person it took the sickness from will disappear.
