The fuel system is a big problem if you live in an area where ethanol is mixed in with the fuel dispensed by dealers, in even small amounts. Ethanol is hygroscopic, meaning, it attracts moisture and can degenerate into a gummy mess that clogs small passageways in carburetors, and the moisture itself can speed corrosion of aluminum and brass parts and rusting of iron or steel parts. The ethanol itself can also have a harmful degrading effect on rubber or plastic parts such as tubing and gaskets.
Follow these few simple things:
1. Park the bike on double stand and cover it with the bike cover or anything that covers it fully.
2. Turn the switch of petcock(on-off) to off.
3. Have a limited stock of petrol in the tank.
4. When you are about to start the bike after long time ensure that you dust out the dirt.
And the most important point for battery health.
5. Instead of button starting the bike kick start it because in these days the battery has drained a lot and when button start is done it drains to the bottom.
6. Run the bike for some distance so as to get some power in the battery.
