Brilliant parapsychologist Elise Rainier receives a disturbing phone call from a man who claims that his house is haunted. Even more disturbing is the address -- 413 Apple Tree Lane in Five Keys, N.M. -- the home where Elise grew up as a child. you people don't understand it, the ghosts in Insidious are feeding on fear and hatred, and that's what her mother didn't have, that's how Key Face was vanquished.

Some of the souls were good people and some were bad people in there lives.
But to the demon he dosen't care, to him they're food.
People might say this chapter sucked but damn, this scene hits you differently if you have a deceased parent especially if it's your mom.
Still better than the 3rd one

I don't know how or why but when I saw this scene in the movie theater, I cried.

I do too! It got me the most because the mother kept her promise that she'd come when they blow that whistle.
DSkehan2004 because as elise got abused the only one who believed her and protected her was her mom and after she was killed Alise was alone and the little whistle was attached to her mom and whenever you blew it the mom said “I will always come running” and when she blew it her mom came out like she said and she helped alise and she said hands off my little girl because although alise was going through her old ages her mom always saw her as her little girl. It was sad but her mom was always on alises side

I agree. Chapter one is the most horrible, and everything is scary like the song, the jump-scares, the ghosts, the darkness-lightness. The most scary scene is the three ghosts with wide smiles.

This movie had all the right elements to make it a great closer to the series. Lin Shaye’s at the top of her acting game and that demon is aesthetically, the creepiest the series has offered so far. On par with The Bride In Black. The script is unfortunately lacklustre and as the same with the declining Conjuring Universe, no one directs a supernatural thriller these days like James Wan. And woefully inept films like “The Nun”, “The Curse Of La Llorona” and this one prove that point.

i cried with my girl friend when the mother comes out.
my gf was small, she was beaten by her father, those experiences were horrific, yet she always wants to forgive him.
When we saw the scene that the abusive father yelled stop, and sacrificed himself to save his children, my girl friend cried out. It would be easier to forgive him if it was controlled by a demon, or maybe demon did influence him, who knows?
but the saddest scene is when the mother comes out and saved them, shout "Hands off my little girl!"
My girl-friend wish she could had experienced the same thing to her, she wishes her mother saved her when she was a child. However, the reality is, her mother abandoned my gf when she was small, and no one helped her at that time
