I'm an Indian and I must say I was impressed with the way this Afghanistan team played, not just in the final but throughout the tournament. They were fit, pacy and showed good technical skills and I'm sure, in a few years they'll be challenging the Top 10 teams in Asia.
Indian football is also on the rise, and though there is a long long way to go and much improvement needed, I hope, sometime in the future, India and Afghanistan play each other in an Asia Cup final.

I'm from afghanistan and in my opinion afghanistan played very well and i'm proud of that young team. india didn't play better than afghanistan! the penalty changed the hole game and the structure of the afghan team. but the penalty was no foul in my eyes the indian and the afghan player crossed each other and the indian player fell! BUUUT our goalkeeper had no right to arguee or to touch the referee! hamwatana khaheshan tarbya as jadetan nara! keep calm!

they are better then any saff teams... they play much organized game them saff teams. they play more like European style game. and in saff Championship it is not always fair it depends the country it host and where the referees from ethnically.... like in this match Afghanistan plays really well until ref show that red card watch the full match you will see how that ref ruin the afghan game cox he was ethnically from India...

i am an indian and watched the match from the stands....from the stands the tackle that resulted in awarding penalty didn't look nice and i thought it was a penalty even before referee gave it... the behavior of goalkeeper was uncalled for and u cannot allow that to happen in an international match ... although i also think that afghan team played better football and their skill and fitness level was definitely better...hats off to them ...
It would have been better if they continued this form in the recent 2018 FIFA world cup qualifiers .

I was talking about the results. They won six matches in a row in that tournament. It's just the winning streak that I mentioned.
Well , India did go on to have a long winning streak in the future : 8 matches between 2016-17
Such winning steaks give a mental boost even though if they are against lower ranked teams. That confidence gained can become the difference in some matches.
A few things to consider:
1) You can't see it in this video, but the Afghan keeper charged at the referee and pushed him. Considering it was a final, the ref could have shown just a yellow card but the rules clearly allow him to show a red as well.
2) The defender who tripped Jeje was the last man, so he was quite lucky to escape with just a yellow card.
3) For those who are saying it was not a penalty, pause it at 1.17 and you'll see the actual contact takes place just inside the box.

Despite losing in the finals, this is still a milestone accomplishment for Afghan football.. We had our biggest win in history defeating Bhutan 8-1, and now a strong 2nd place finish for these young players in Afghanistan's first time reaching the finals in international competition. There was no International competition at all in Afghanistan for over 20 years and now look where they are. Optimistic future to say the least! Lions of Khorasan!

the real picture why the goalkeeper was given the red card is not shown or capturized to the camera and is not shown here .. those who saw it live knows why the goalkeeper was given the red card .. he clearly pushed and abused the ref .. and if you cant control ur emotions and you are the captain of a team then dis is wat you deserve .

Great competition, I think this edition was more competitive than previous ones. Amazing display of valor by Afghanistan. Amazing football by Nepal. Yet as always India played better than everyone else. Can't wait for another one.

Great game Afghanistan and India, and we thank India for giving us that opportunity to challenge them Indians. We lost is true but in really we win because we actually played against the professional proud Indians. So good job Afghan players. Inshahalla in the future if Indian gives us another opportunity we will win, possibly with more training.

Afghanistan was the best team in this championship, no doubt about it. They played with a great confidence and a very entertaining and beautiful football. The corrupt referee ruined the match. but it dosent matter, Afghans going home as the true victors and winners anyways. Eveyone knows that.
