Every version of this story has been good, from the anime to the live-action.
Kinetic Projectiles are pretty neat when your enemy only has Shields against Lasers.
I swear there was a version of this compilation hovering around somewhere which included a shot of the crew saluting fallen soldiers while gunners were firing a salute of their own from one of the rear turrets...
I remember that one. They were doing something of a burial at sea (space) ceremony. I've been looking for it too.
i know who youre talking about, the guy deleted all of this compliation videos and never explained why
so these seem to be reuploads of those videos
The rear turrets cant fire shells.. because they sit right atop a hangar bay and the 2 catapults so there is no room downwards for the shell storage and transport mechanism.. i guess in that scene they were firing some short of energy blanks for effect. they dont seem to be firing anything that goes away..just the ceremonial flash
This anime is made with care, passion, and lots of nerdiness, I love it
One of my favorite anime. The Yamato is such a beast!
i bet this is how IJN imagine their Yamato can do
single-handedly win naval battles
😂
2:13
Canonically, only the three frontal turrets are armed with the Type 3 Shells. Looking closely, the last two rear turrets are not pointing at Dessler’s ship.
The old 18 inch guns are still powerful in this sci Fi
Any time and place...
This is why kinetic/ballistic weapons are the most powerful type of guns in space. Also this point is very valid, Sir Isaac Newton is THE DEADLIEST S.O.B. IN SPACE.
A great idea they explored here. Thrilling stuff. I love how the old tech always caught the enemy off guard.
I recently picked up the star blazers manga and its really reallly good , one nice thing about the manga is that it has design details on the ships from the series
Palpatine would be drooling in jealousy over this kind of power.
Other ship having a Futuristic Lazer cannons
While
Yamato is still using the good ol Cannon from WW2 era
The alien ships are designed to resist energy weapons - they have no defense against physical projectiles.
Yamato really went “F-- your lasers! Have some good old fashioned gunpowder!”
I love the cannon sound effects. So unique.
I’m so happy they kept a bunch of the sound effects from the original 70’s anime. The sound design in the original was awesome.
The plot armor on the Yamato was stronger than its wave canon
01:09, oh the gong like sound just......................*chef kiss*
You will never take that away from me.
Kinetic and Ballistics are the only way to go with space weaponries. Lasers? Beams? Ions? Plasma? All that shit can frak off. Big shells, missiles and torpedoes are a man's romance, even in space.
When everyone is building shields and armor to resist energy weapons, sometimes a good old 18.1 inch high explosive shell is just what you need.
AP with HE filler just gotta be the best thing ever
