Such a calming medley with strings and the tuba.. The tuba has such a range and sounds like a trombone and almost like a French horn.. I really like this.. thank you all!

Wow! Was man (...oder besser gesagt Hans Nickel!) aus so einer Tuba herausholen kann! Als Soloinstrument habe ich sie bislang nie gehört, aber der Klang ist toll und das bekannte, teils rasante Stück ein echter Hörgenuss. Danke an alle Musiker*innen! :o)

@@WDRKlassik I thought this velocity could only be played on a tuba with valves (like Oystein Baadsvik) and not on pistons.

Where did the tuba mute go at @5:18? hahaha
If you look carefully a few seconds before, you see someone's hand come up above his bell. I believe the cello player removes the mute for him. You see the mute laying near the cello after that.
His breathing technique is amazing, with just one loud and fast note he blows the mute a few meters away.

Verstehe von dem Instrument zu wenig, glaube also, dass es virtuos ist. Für mich macht die Tuba aber aus dem vor Freude und Energie explodierenden Tanz zum großen Teil eine Elegie bis Trauermarsch.
