So in the events of DragonBall King Piccolo used the dragonballs to regain his youth. So Lord slug is just another namekian asking for the same exact thing.
So fun fact: The "False Super Saiyan" we see in this movie is actually how the super saiyan was supposed to look, the missing eyes and hair going up was supposed to be reminiscent of Dr. Slump (another manga made by Toriyama) in one scene getting so angry he became stronger. This is exactly how the super saiyan was supposed to look. But then they added the eyes back because it was really hard to draw emotions without the eyes there. And one of Toriyamas assistants suggested making his hair lighter so that they didn't have to ink in Gokus hair anymore, because his hair being massive and black always made it a nightmare to draw his hair on each manga panel so making it light made it much easier.
And that's how they arrived at the super saiyan we all know, but at the time this movie was being made, this is how the super saiyan was supposed to look like and this was supposed to be the first time we see the super saiyan as a sneak peak
No from what I hear, this was how the film makers made it look because Toriyama had yet to release the chapter that actually showed Super Saiyan how it ended up looking.
@@TKDragon75 Yeah that’s what I understand to be the truth. It is true that Toriyama did choose the super sayian design for that reason, and it is true that the movie jumped the gun on what super sayain would look like, but they are unrelated events. I think this guy is meshing two fun facts into one thing.
@@TKDragon75 At the very least though, I imagine they would've needed to have at least some idea of what Super Saiyan was going to look like. Given that they got the energy color down, as well as the hair style looking impressively correct aside from its color. But they were probably just going off a spoken or written description, rather than any actual artwork. While needing to fill in any blanks on their own.
Little context, this movie is pretty much the exact same plotline to King Piccolo arc in og db, they even use some most of the powers that toriyama forgot piccolo had

The not-so-subtle joke is that the original Lord Slug movie is just a rehash of Dragon Ball's King Piccolo storyline compressed into a Dragon Ball Z movie.

The animation studio almost jumped the gun on the Super Saiyan transformation. It wasn't yet introduced in the manga yet. At least, that is from my understanding. This is a "fake" Super Saiyan.
Regular Lord Slug is a terrible movie. Things just happen and that ANIMATION ERROR is actually in the movie. Team Four Star did their best to whip this movie into shape.

How a Namakian can make the dragon balls is they split themselves into two halves. And evil half and good half. The good half can make the dragon balls. The evil half exists
They are connected
It’s why Kami died when Piccolo died cause Piccolo is the son of King Piccolo who was the evil half of Kami

They don't have to split themselves to make dragon balls. That's two completely separate abilities. There's two tribes on Namek, the warrior tribe and the dragon tribe. People of the dragon tribe can create dragon balls, people of the warrior tribe can not but they have great fighting power.
Kami just split himself because he wanted to get rid of his evil side. That had nothing to do with making the dragonballs though.
@@EskChan19 Which just begs the question of why if a person splits themselves, each half would essentially be an entirely different race of one's people, rather than both halves being the same in that regard.
