- First time in Pattaya Thailand after living in Thailand for over 20 years. We visit jomtien beach, walking street, an elephant cafe and the best pie shop in Thailand, Tinnies pies. I do a brief pattaya hotel review and give my first impressions of Pattaya Thailand. Links below.

Nice to see you on a road trip with your lovley daughter Annie. You're a good Dad. Be proud.
Cheers mate, appreciate the kind words.👍🍺
Wow, amazed in all those years you've never been south of Bangkok. Glad you guys got to enjoy Pattaya.
Cheers mate, yes first time, enjoyed it.👍🍺
In 1993 I used to drive regularly from Bangkok to Hat Yai. Less traffic than route 1 north. The South has the best beaches and islands but the men are rougher and coarser than the gentle Northerners.
That is a very nice view from the balcony patio
Loved this. Greater Pattaya, as it were, offers a lifestyle to suit every taste and every budget. Tree Town is more your bag than Walking St. Eat, drink, and enjoy the vibrancy. Nong Nooch is worth a visit by day. Explore the night markets after dark.
Someone did their homework on your food choices 👍
Cheers mate, yes, had a great time. Will certainly check out those places.👍🍺
Stumbled across your video. Love you content I’ve just got to say I identify with you 100%.
Your trips with your daughter remind me so much of when i go out with my 19 year old. Blessed that we look so young 😂
Ha ha. Cheers mate.Don't feel so young this morning.👍😁🍺
Pattaya is often the subject of ridicule, and has a reputation as being the centre of sleaze in Thailand. It's an unfair reputation. You can easily avoid the nightlife and enjoy a wide range of shopping venues, cinemas and great restaurants. It's not a boring place, people are friendly and I've always felt very safe there. Good for you for giving it a go.
........refreshing approach.....and it is by far the best place to visit if you have kids, both foreigner and Thai and has been for years with so much for them to do and many fun attractions to boot....................We always used to stay at Cabbages and Condoms/ Birds & Bees in Pratumnak, a superb place for kids..............................
Feel the same way. Will check out what more Pattaya has to offer in the future.👍🍺
I think it gets exactly the reputation it deserves personally. That doesn’t mean there aren’t family friendly, interesting things to do, but it is certainly responsible for its own image and there is a lot of truth in the rep it gets.
Be honest it's there as a sex destination. If that's what you want fine. But there are so many better places to go in thailand
@@grahammurray7426 My favourite place in Thailand is the north, Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. The problem is that for 6 months of the year the air pollution is unbearable and would lower your life expectancy if you stayed there full time. You can find “sex” anywhere in Thailand, not just Pattaya. But the air quality is better all year round, the facilities like shops, restaurants etc are good so you can easily avoid the sex tourist areas if you wish. My point stands - Pattaya is a much better place than most people believe.
Back with a bang! Excellent stuff, as always. 👍
Cheers mate.👍🍺
Great to see you and Annie out and about and enjoying Pattaya. Thanks for Tinnies pie review will definitely give them a try, Fun video 👍
Cheers Joe, their pie and mash looks worth a try.👍🍺
cheers @@jamesabroad8589
Excellent humour and banter style commentary..............Love how you can vlog here n there with Annie, quite unique for YT in Thailand-wise
Cheers mate, we have a good laugh making videos.👍🍺
Everything at that place looks delicious.😋👍
I try to always add a Iike and comment for the algorithm mate!

Great to see you and your content again James, hope all has been ok/well. Thanks for showing the trip with Annie
Cheers mate. Hope you're well.👍🍺
Been missing your videos mate 😄
Cheers Jayden.🍻👍
I know Pattaya pretty well for a farang and I think you did a good job of giving us a view of the wider experience to be had in the area. That said, you really haven’t experienced Pattaya without going down Soi 6, Soi Buakhao, or Walking Street - at night. Although maybe not with the daughter, lol.
Yep, maybe go to soi 6 on a solo trip lol. Cheers. 👍
Always great to see you with Annie!
Cheers Dottie. Appreciate it.👍🍺
Good afternoon sir. Good to see you and your pride and joy again 🙂👍
Great video. Thailand always has much to see. Thanks to you and your daughter for new places to check out. 👍🙏
Our pleasure. Had fun showing what's around Pattaya. 👍🍺

Thanks for another great video. I apparently your take on Pattaya. It's wonderful you get your share adventures with your daughters. I remember those days. In no time, they have their families and then grandchildren. Trusting your mother is doing well. Blessings
Cheers Mike, try to enjoy things while we can. yes my mum is doing ok thanks. All the best.👍🍺
Those shrimps were at a family reunion when they were scooped up and thrown is boiling water. Bon Appetit ! You two are adorable together.
Cheers mate, always have fun.😁👍🍺
Damn, I just passed Tinnies walking one hour ago.
I did not know they was famous for excellent pies....have to go back another day. :)

Will be in Thailand for the first time in December. Good video, will check out Tinnies.
Cheers Julio, hope you have a trip mate.👍🍺
"You've seen one, you've seen them all." -- You're right about the elephants. I wonder why people keep going back. Must be the coffee. Love your family trips!!! Thanks for posting 😊.
Cheers, I do what I'm told lol. Fun trip.👍👍
There tons of brill places to see in and around Pattaya with great hotels at very reasonable prices. The Santuary of Truth, Art in Paradise, 3 Mermaids, Dolphin shows, etc. I live here and love the place. Yes it has a seedy nite life but there much to explore here. Come back soon.
Agree, will certainly check out more places in the future.👍🍺
great content as usual nice one james
Cheers mate. Much appreciated.👍🍺
It's good you had a couple drinks and some food 🙂
Can highly recommend Nong Nooch Gardens if you have more time. Was there 4 months ago when visiting the family in Sattahip. Jomtien is great in my opinion. Travel safe.🙂
I'll certainly check that out. What I saw of Jomtien, I liked. All the best.👍🍺
It was a trippy show
That was pretty cool the selfie in McDonald's 👍
Nice shirt, jeans and deck shoes👍
Great to see an upload from you and Annie. Have not been to Pattaya in at least 16 years the other half keeps me away from places like that she has to protect me from lol...Had a crazy month Chiang Rai for a month check the house visa and visit friends. Than back down to our island home for a few days than Bangkok last weekend for a concert Kodaline. Take care James keep the content flowing and alway a big hi to your beautiful mother.
Cheers Colin. Always appreciate the kind words mate.👍🍺
Good to know that you guys are doing okay all is good here 👍
That is a really nice room too.
Great to see you back. We just did a small trip to Cha Am (the Jomtiem of Hua Hin) for some R &R.
The wife did manage to jag accommodation within walking distance to BKK Uni for our daughter and she is enjoying it. Hope that it is all going good for Annie. Cheers, Shane 🍺
Cheers Shane, glad to hear you found a place for your daughter. Annie is enjoying her time at BU too. All the best.👍🍺
She is just like my daughter she is always taking pictures and selfies with her phone 👍
By far the best pies in Thailand, classic Aussie pie shop
Yep, quality pies and nice staff.👍🍺
Top video, been to Pattaya many times, also with my daughter, Stayed at Centera Grand Mirage resort last time impressive bit pricey tbf.
Plenty to do though, will check out tbe elephants next visit. My Daughter is half thai so seriously thinking of moving out there after she finishes school in uk.
Cheers from sunny Blackpool.
Cheers Paul. We both enjoyed Pattaya. Might well do another trip soon.👍🍺
The seafood on the restaurant looked fantastic, i have to go there. Thanks for a nice video.
Cheers, yes not a seafood fan but very fresh and not touristy.👍🍺
Really enjoy you're videos James my lady is from Kampheang Phet and we go there every year (from Australia) but we spend most our time in Pattaya. She vists one of her friends in Jomtiem and I go to Tinnies just love those pies.
Cheers David. Yes, quality pies.👍🍺
Pattaya has become a sprawling city that has changed for the better and a lot of money is being injected to make it way more family friendly. It has many Beaches and Koh Larn is just a short boat trip away. Personally think its one of the better areas to live in Thailand.......it has it all and the shopping centres are amazing.
(Dave typing) I blinkin' loved your video James! Long time watcher, I had no idea that you'd never been south of Bangkok in 20 years... I had incorrectly assumed that you had been everywhere in Thailand! (My bad, my apologies.) Rose and I really enjoy Jomtien/Pattaya and I completely agree that, in the main, it's way-way better than it's preceding reputation. Every time I come to Thailand, I always start by telling myself that I will definitely stay a month in Bangkok to really learn the city better, but within a week or so, we're usually headed south to Pattaya (mostly) or Hua Hin, Krabi or Phuket (and once went north to Chiang Mai).
I've never been to Tak, but I gather it's much more "real" that the tourist destinations I usually head to. I think next time I visit (soon), we might do a bit of a road trip around Thailand. If you're agreeable, we'd love to stop-in at buy you a beer in Tak... it's "only" an 11 hour drive west from Rose's hometown of Sakon Nakhon...! 😛
Also, I notice from the camera case you held, you must be using a DJI Pocket 2? It was good to see how the footage looks "in the wild" as I've been holding-off pulling the trigger until a new model is released. I'm excited about the DJI Pocket 3, which is supposed to be coming out within a month or so... exciting times for vloggers!
All the best, Dave - @TravelsWithRose
Agree, I can't spend too long in Bangkok and enjoyed the laid back vibe of Pattaya. Pocket 2 has been great so far, will see what the pocket 3 offers. All the best.👍🍺
Love the hotel artscapes man…gives me ideas for the farm….
Nice mate, hope all's well.👍🍺
I will be there in December. That area is my usual hangout. Your video brought back memories. Its a small world. 😆
Should be busier by then. Enjoyed it.👍🍺
Cool
Good to join this trip with you.
Cheers mate, glad u enjoyed it.👍🍺
Hi mate we took my daughter there for a few days in March she loved the days but no the nights .( she felt sorry for the young girls ) . Nice one again showing the other side of Thailand .🍺
Cheers mate. Didn't hit the bar spots at night. Ok for Lads night out but not great with your daughter. 👍🍺
Great video
Cheers Bobster.👍🍺
So many restaurants we love Pattaya
Yes, we also saw an Indian area with fantastic looking food. Will certainly make a return visit.👍🍺
Cold beer is good 👍
Love fresh seafood 👍❤️
Hi James great video, hope you are ok haven’t had a new videos in ages
Just seen this. Yes still around lol. Hope you're well.👍🍺
Hi mate I done it the other way round to you I started my time in jomtien and met a girl from TAK we spend probably about a year in and around Chonburi but then we went up to TAK and I stayed up there for a few months a totally different experience to pattaya had a great time up there it was the real a Thailand 🇹🇭 for me, I never saw another farang lovely place I hope to get back there one day and see the great friends I met in Tak, great vlog James good luck to you and your sweet daughter Regards from Blighty.
Cheers mate, yes very different. Might bump into a farang once a month here lol. Both places have their pros and cons. All the best.👍🍺
Wongamat beach ( Naklua) is nice if you have a car. This beach & north Pattaya bay ( along Beach Rd ) is away from the “seedy” party section. Most of the 4-5 star hotels are in north Pattaya.
Thanks for the info William. I will explore more in the future.👍🍺
Had the same experience - thought I wouldn’t like it but did very much.
Yep, surprised me with everything I've heard about the place.👍🍺
Selfie hell, very true 😅
Drives me mad TBH. Photobomb.😁👍🍺
I'm way behind on my CZcams and don't know you were down this way(just made it back to Thailand last week)
Glad you enjoyed yourselves. Lots to do in the area, it's not just about the bars.
Hope you doing well these days....
Cheers Daz, yes enjoyed it, have a great trip mate.👍🍺
Thanks, l enjoy, watcing and l think ,you have make some good decisions with life, all the best for your family 😊
Cheers Ivan.👍🍺
I applaud you for not riding the elephants, well done
Coconut with cocktail umbrella was enough.😁👍🍺
Shouldn't even be there though, still supporting the abuse 😢
Hi James loved your vid unfortunately most tourists as you know go for complete different reasons than you and me .there is so many interesting and cultural places to visit hear I am same as you just scratching the surface.keep well and keep posting mate.TONY
Cheers Tony, appreciate it, hope you're well mate.👍🍺
Does not look too crowded there👍
What a great place James and it would of been nice if you and Annie had a few more days to explore! Yes in Pattaya you will definitely need to get that T Shirt pointing out that Annie is your daughter lol 😀
Yes had a good time, will hopefully make a return visit. All the best.👍🍺
Tinnies Pies, hes from Tasmania, his family had a business there selling pies! good pies and coffee,
Yep, very impressed with Tinnies. Hope all's well.🍺👍
Tinnies pies are great.
Best pie I've had in Thailand.👍🍺
@@jamesabroad8589 Yeah I agree I just recommended getting a delivery of them to an Aussie vlogger (after watching your vid) Ricky in Issan who's feeling a little down and thought a good Aussie pie or 2 would cheer him up?
James with his daughter in Pattaya; never thought I would see that.
Both liked it TBH. Obviously not doing night life with my daughter.👍🍺
I never thought Pattaya was the place to go to eat pies and see elephants. I might have to visit sometime, but so touristy.
Not too bad tourist wise TBH. High season starts next month though.👍🍺
Get over yourself.
Be safe and be careful. 🙂👍🙏
Cheers Martin, all the best.👍🍺
Great time with your daughter good to see that bond James.tinnies good I agree bit pricey tho I've had pies from korat chef similar less than half the. price. I went to pattaya with the wife few yrs ago just stuck to jomtien.. I've not bn south since I met tuk. Kind of stuck around the area. Oh.. I bought a van I'm converting to a camper.. Vanlife incoming.. You know ya gotta keep busy 🤣🙏👍💯
Sounds fun mate. Will take a look at korat chef. Not sure they use Aussie beef but always up for a good pie.👍🍺
@@jamesabroad8589 sure it was curry pie just as good I thought. Yeh it's going to be a journey on its own doing the conversion but a reward at the end, exploring 🇹🇭 🙏
Try Hua Hin next time. You'll love it
Yes, will do. Heard a lot of good things.🍺👍
I’ve lived in View Talay condos for nearly 4 years and love it, the studios are a good size 58sgm with big balcony’s, massive swimming pools and well managed and maintained. A years rent can be as cheap as 10,000baht a month! 😊
Liked the area actually and must be some great views. Next to Tinnies Pies too, Bonus.👍👍
Pattaya has changed over the years and there will be big changes in the future .There is a lot of money going in and the city will develop big time .
If you are considering going to retire there best Buy into the city before it is too expensive.
It really is one of the greatest places to live obviously certain parts of the city aren’t for everyone but there are areas for everyone
Those Ozzy pies looked good will definitely try them out but they are pricey
Cheers kev. Certainly quality pies.👍🍺
James you really missed out not traveling South as you would have found almost 2 different cultures North versus South, Oh well you'll never know⛲
Nice video james lots of good information there, I look forward to further Pattaya videos, well done for not riding the elephants I don’t like to see it personally, and I wish people would stop doing it…the only thing that spoiled the vide fir me was your comment about not seeing any ‘fat falang’ not a nice thing to say to be honest.
I'm a fat farang at the moment lol Not meant maliciously.👍🍺
Can’t believe you have never been to islands and stuff down south James, thats terrible man!! 😂 I had my first time in Pattaya last year (having avoided it for 20yrs) but only as family are now in Chonburi. It was ok I must admit, liked the western food & malls, you do see the odd site 😂 but daytime is fine ( I guess the mongers don’t get up until the afternoon 😅). Great vid James 👍
My daughter starts her 1st yr at uni here next week, couldn’t quite get a nice apartment like Annie’s - although they do have them here 🇬🇧 now, purpose built (cost about £12k per year). Had to settle for a room in a shared house for £660 pm exc bills. Take care mate 😎👍
Agree mate, a few sites even in the daytime but enjoyed it lol. UK is crazy expensive but the degrees are better thought of TBH. All the best mate.👍🍺
Kwai....buffalo....same my wife calls me in her tempers....haha
😁👍
I've found lobsters to be expensive in LOS. Sea food is generally bang on to be fair, another great video James
Cheers mate. Appreciate it.👍🍺
Go visit Nong Nook garden outside Pattaya. You’ll need all day there it’s a beautiful place with great diversity. Including a fake Stonehenge 👌🏼
Will certainly check that out next time. Fake stone henge lol. 😁👍🍺
Now it’s 9pm and I want one of those delicious looking pies.
(Not a creamy one)
🍺
With a bit of mash and gravy. 😇
Never thought I'd see you do a Patts video.
Glad you liked the Aussie style pies. Smart choice not to investigate that last toilet any further 😅
Annies 20 already... where does the time go?
Take it easy mate.
Cheers mate. Great pies.👍🍺
Good luck.with low season.Pattaya. I can remember.2.07 and also I can see the ugliest hotel(River front) in Thailand(red arrow).Enjoy with the vacation.
Cheers mate, yes had fun time.👍🍺
Go to Kiwi Bar. Decent western food.
Will try mate next time I'm in town. 👍🍺
Good quality video. Not a phone camera?
It's a DJI pocket 2 camera. Very small and happy with it.👍🍺
The inside of the Pullman at 1:32 reminded me of a State Prison :-)
You forgot the mandatory bum gun check there, but that's allright- it looks functional
Hope all is well in Tak
Yep, a bit out of practice lol. Bum gun was powerful.😊👍
Just did that drive from Mueang Tak to Pattaya last week with my gf , do walking st at night next time 😊
Would like too, but CZcams doesn't like. Restrictions etc. Long drive.👍🍺
@@jamesabroad8589 that’s a point , you don’t need to get blocked , and best part of 7 hours with lunch and fuel stops , cheers for the reply
Guys like me who visit Pattaya purely for adult scene do not get to see it daytime much. Nice to see it in daytime lol
Glad to be of service mate LOL. 👍🍺
My current condo is just up the street from Pullman. Burger place across the street from Pullmans next to the Tops has one of the best burgers in town with a self serve laundry next door. Come high season this area called Wongamat is stuffed with Russians, eastern Europeans and Germans.
I think I know the place, just has a massive BURGER sign as you drive pass. 80% of tourists there were E.European/Russian. Perfectly nice though. 👍
A heads up about Pattaya. You can get all kinds of "stuff" done on a tourist visa that you cannot in Bangkok. For example, for a reasonable fee (I think it was about 3,000 THB) I used a French guy to open a bank account with Bangkok Bank when I was on holiday in Pattaya a few months ago. I know you can also get the Over-50s Retirement Visa in Pattaya, and, for a "fee", not have to deposit the required significant sum of money into a bank account. All this kind of stuff is possible in "Sin City", but has become extremely difficult (impossible?) to do in Bangkok.
Yep, heard visa agents are having a tougher time now in Bangkok. 👍🍺
you may get used to the raw sewage stench after a couple days; yes its all pumped out into the gulf but the rains float it all up to street level and above. enjoy😂
Oh really, so sewage is pumped out there. Nice.💩👍
@@jamesabroad8589 except for the septic tanks of residential properties, yes. there are zero functioning sewage treatment plants in Pattaya. So yeah all that goes out into the gulf and comes back in. That is IF the pumping stations can keep up with it which is a big IF.
Just a quick one to ask if all is OK. Not seen you for a while. Be well be safe 🙏
Yes ok mate, just taking a break. Have a great new year.🎄👍🍺
James Looked through some of your videos and have a question, maybe it is something you have thought of yourself. Maybe also Annie has an opinion on as well. It is regarding boyfriends and potential partner in the future. Most of us are aware of the way things are here and you've covered most on your previous blogs. I have a two daughters with dual citizenship and we have been here just over seven years. They both were held back one year on arrival and one in primary the other in kindy. Now the eldest is in M2 and talking of universities in Bangkok. However I sometimes wonder if being Half farang has the same negative side as the poor old dad when it comes to the usual ..... Do friends actually get guided by their parent to become friends in the first place. My eldest has a friend who wants to accompany her to the old country on any holidays we take. They are well off families in good government high school. My daughter vans it to the city from the sticks daily. Until high school they were both in a good private school in the city and I traveled daily to pick them up. The fuel cost were higher than the school fees and I have now put my second daughter in a rural private school closer to home. My eldest daughter is fair and my youngest looks Thai, both born overseas yet treated differently here in the village school and with strangers the questions when shopping will never cease. They both speak Isaan, Thai and English although the later is now suffering as they no longer have the extra English curriculum. (subjects taught twice in English and Thai) plus the Chinese as well. My youngest daughters best friend is the step daughter of a farang in a neighbouring village. They both lost all their friends in our village when they left the local school.
Getting side tracked do you think boys will want to date or marry a girl of dual nationality for the obvious benefits? Here in Isaan marriages are arranged or manipulated by the parents or aunties. How to deal with this? Also I have religious belief which does not include idolatry or animism etc. (redeemed and totally over the wat tours etc)
I think once at university in Bangkok, there's way more diversity. Annie is just taken for who she is and always has been. I also teach her to take no BS from anyone and choose friends carefully. Good luck.👍🍺
@3:00 it looked more like prison landings in a scene from Porridge 🤣😂🤣
Haha, yes, did a bit.😁👍🍺
I could hear you say “darling” all day long.
Yep, I call people I love darling a lot.👍
I do hope you don't snore, poor Annie 😂😂😂
She has earplugs.😁👍🍺
Pattaya nice place 😊🫰❤️🎉🎊
Much nicer than I expected.👍🍺
Next time try Khao Kheow Open Zoo between Bangkok and Pattaya. Less commercial and more animals than 'Mong Chang' (watch elephants). The walk-in aviary, through double hanging chains, is great. You stayed at the Pullman hotel in Na Kleua, meaning salt pans -- indicating its past history. Taleh is sea; chai-haad is beach.
Cheers for the info. Might well give that a try.👍🍺
US-Filipina couple visit Khao Kheow (Green Hill) Open Zoo ... czcams.com/video/Cl-yiH27L04/video.html
Thanks for sharing and happy you guys had fun. Ignore the morally superior elephant activists.
I've been here too long to think about Western values lol. Hope you're well.👍🍺
On second thoughts Scruffy just enjoy yourself. Stuff the decourum
Could've been an ill-fitting mankini, so count yourself lucky.👍🍺
