    about the 40GB USB-C XD, what I found out is that it does not support 40GB if the 1st M.2 slot is used (shares PCIe lanes). You can't find it in the manual.

    A commentary for the algorithm. I really love your reviews, they are in depth, funny and always very informative. For me, you are the #1 MB reviewer, simply because you got the best overall package (or should i say feature set ?). Looking forward to your next review !

    Nice to you back in form. Missed your videos. A question I had was regarding the USB4 chipsets used. I heard from another video that there is a difference between USB4 (apparently this is the official name) chipsets and USB 4.0 (note the space) chipsets that are rebranded TB3. They were claiming that the older TB3 chipsets have access to only 32 of the 40gb/s. Do you know anything about that?

    Thanks for reviewing this board Laurent. I'm very interested in it and may, after all, pull the trigger on one. A great review, as always and as expected, you remain at the top of the segment for reviews of this nature, truly you do. I take what you say about the expense and closeness to the strix. I would still pay extra for the Crosshair - the rear I/O panel in itself almost justifies the extra in my view. Removing all slow legacy USB, as you say, and including 2x (TWO !!!) 40Gpbs USB4 (USB4 !!!) seals the deal in favour of the Crosshair Vs Strix for me. Talk about future-proofing! The only thing ASUS could do to make me a 100% happy camper would be include pcie5 support for the GPU (yes, I know, overkill much) and a pair of PS/2 ports on the rear I/O. I'm just weird like that, LOL ;-) Thanks again Laurent, keep up the exemplary work and don't let the turkeys get you down 🙂

    Love your videos. They give more all the information im looking for when deciding. I would prefer the e-e But sadly my case Needs the 2 3.0 front headers =-(. Then i go ok, so now i have to pick this or the more expensive still Extreme version. Would love a video on that to be able to see what you say on the 2

    I'm deciding between this and the E-E. One thing you could've mentioned is that if you plan on upgrading to USB4 or TB later just get the HERO instead for a cleaner look as the USB4/TB card is around $130 or so. For a little more you get better everything. I wish there was more RGB tho and that the panel was customizable.

    You know I have seen a lot of review of Motherboards where people will just point out with there finger and tell you what something is, where it is, and its specs/capabilities. I like that he took the time to take a picture and outlined the exact parts he was talking about at the time and even show everything you needed to know about that particular part in clean text form. It made understanding everything he explained very easy to understand. Thank you for the quality video.

    I love this review. But I don't agree 100% that the hero is totally out of line price vise compared to the Strix. Yes 200 more is to much, but top tier products always come at a non-linear premium.

  • @bgpsbgps1

    Please tell me, who knows: if this motherboard has only 4 PCIe 3.0 lines for two USB4s, that means 32 Gbit. USB 4 should support 40 Gbps. There are two of them. It turns out that when connected to one USB4 there will be a maximum of 32 Gbit, and when connected to two USB4, each will have only 16 Gbit. So why are they needed here in the amount of two and called usb4? Thanks to everyone who can answer

    Terrible board gives me nothing but headaches… Tried 2 different brand new boards, latest BIOS and all I got is random freezes and reboot which is kinda ridiculous. Paired with Ryzen 7950X and G.Skill CL30 AMD EXPO kit. Even running on stock also unstable. Swap to B650 for testing problem instantly solved even with OC. Just don’t get this board.

    Are the Z690 or Z790 extreme boards worth the $ for content creation? I can pick one up for the cost of a Hero board. A video covering this and the Apex/Formula mobos? The last 4 gets, I've followed your recommendations every Gen.

    • @Laurentschoice
      @Laurentschoice  Před rokem +2

      Thanks for the kind words Michael.
      For content creation I'd go with the Strix . No need of more than that. Same VRM , same PCIe 5 integration .. same everything.
      I am reviewing the Apex though!
