The interviewer was so damn rude, my god. Why have guests on your show if you're just going to berate them and not let them speak? John Waters and Divine are legends.
No they aren't legends. These people produced garbage, and it will be entirely forgotten. This stupidity led to a decade of shock "entertainment" - meaningless. Divine was nothing more than a modern day freak show. Without looking it up, name a famous freak that was around between 1930 or before. Joseph Merrick didn't work as a freak, he was simply a famous hunchback because of his severe deformities and the film made about him. Divine was literally nothing but a mental freak show. That's what all drag queens are. It's pathetic.
Not a great fan of Waters films but they are both very good here and I agree Snyder is just flat out nasty. I love that Waters doesn’t react to the insults and gives honest and intelligent answers without apology. Gotta respect how they both handled themselves.
The thing about these guys is that they are so normal. That is as much by design as it is just the natural way of things. Everyone ELSE imposes depraved expectations upon them.
Believe me , that's the sort of audience you wanna hit too. You don't want everyone to get that style of humor, what's the point in that. Because that would become monotonous.
@@lymer5 did I mention his hair? And, like I said he did “age that fast.” Thirty- five year olds do not look like with that grey, blonde, or purple hair. Don’t ever @ me again when I didn’t mention anything to do with what you’re talking about. Fool.
Harris Milstead was just nothing more than a modern day freak, literally. If you were born in 1850, you'd have been going to see the woman with a beard, and the Siamese Twins. That's who you are, but your particular freak, is the mentally ill. Aren't you a good person?
He was a pretty disrespectful interviewer in general. I never felt like he tried to appreciate or understand a lot of his guests. There are a few moments though where he is visibly trying not to laugh, like he hates that he actually finds it funny.

I know this is undesirable but does Devine look older than he is? I mean he died in 1988 at the age of 42 (if I recall) and this clip is from 1981 which would make him 35 or thereabouts.
Tom Snyder is rotting in hell now. He was definitely not interested in their work. He was using them to poke fun of. Majority of his questions had nothing to do with their work. It was more of his way to embarrass them and put them down.
Was lucky enough to see Divine in concert twice. Actually got to speak to her too. Heady days indeed.
Thanks for uploading. Divine was such a sweetie loved his blue eyes too
so true :)
did you meet him in real life..
@@ThePoobears no sadly I did not
@@balto4 I hear you there I would have loved to meet him too.. he passed away on my 19th birthday.. a week from now how ironic..
@@ThePoobears I was really little when he passed I was like 6 or 7
Boy, Waters really looked like Steve Buscemi back then.
Steve´s sleazy brother..

Tongue in cheek on the part of Tom

What Divine got older was his hair, appearance didn't change at all, my friend, he dyed it and shaved it on the side of his head
'Wh-Why do you this kind of stuff!?!!??' He asks.
Two legends!

Great observation.
They are NOT normal. Are you nuts ??
They were very gracious. That host was kinda nasty!!
I was thinking the same thing, definitely condescending
Believe me , that's the sort of audience you wanna hit too.

Tom Snyder could often be an asshole.
Hard to believe Divine was only 35/36 years old at that time. He aged so rapidly.
@@kqno55 nah I’m sorry but he looked 50. Not many 35 year olds look like that. Pls be real. No one’s hating, he just did age that fast.
@@kqno55 I'm 51. If I saw this person, I would assume they are 60 or above. I expect rigorous drug use did this to him.
I think the the platinum blonde hair made him look older

Divine was so amazing!
These people were way ahead of their time
They started the time
Tom Snyder interviewed everyone I would have wanted to
RIP Divine 💜

Great team!
We live in a better world where Tom Snyder is now rightfully the villain in this interview.
Awww, Divine is so pretty. Comes across as very sweet. ❤
John & Divine was. like the 80s laurel and hardy
John Waters for US president 2024! RIP Divine we loved your s*iT.
They are both amazing...Divine was a riot and frick'n hilarious!
Yeah, eating dog feces makes one a star, not a freak.

@5:42 what a thing to say in 1981 😢😱😭
Ursula.
Polyester was very interesting movie
Mom and Dad ❤
Divine is beautiful
John Waters. I take your slings and arrows, CZcams crowd... You are DIRECTOR JESUS CHRIST.
Snyder was such a disrespectful interviewer in this, Divine and Waters are legends for pushing what was possible in cinema.

✌️❤️
John always had the ideas and Divine was the performance artist and face...who knew society would change?

Agreed. Same can be said for tom who looks like 65 here, but was 45 at the time
he also has white bald hair. Some people just age faster than others.
Did he just call something a meme?

Tom Snyder who? We all know John and Devine ❤
Not a fan of the interviewer
John and Divine are far more classier if you ask me. Tom Snyder is prime example of assholism.
Never cared for Tom Snyder
Poor Glenn looks so old.
Out of character, Glenn Milstead was a polite person, as it appears in the interview,
Tom Snyder is rotting in hell now. He was definitely not interested in their work. He was using them to poke fun of. Majority of his questions had nothing to do with their work. It was more of his way to embarrass them and put them down.
Not a fan of the interviewer at all. Very judgmental. Rude even. But i like that John Waters does not apologize for who he is. RIP Divine
