We have done a lot of videos and watched a lot of reviews. Thank you for mentioning no only can you use the road shower for a shower but also other needs as well.. Its a water storage container and helps reduce other methods of carrying water :)
@Kernica1 Hi Kernica, I have the 4S model, which is the 4 gallon. I choose to mount it on the outside because my Yakima roof rack rails and full size rig is wide enough for me to do that. Plus, this leaves me 100% of the roof basket to put all other gear in.
I'm buying the same basket for our Tahoe and eventually get one of these Road Showers for it. Do you have the 22" extension on yours (basket) or do you have it at the 54" length?
What sort of temperature will the water get up to in summer and also in winter? Say 30 degrees C summer and 10 degrees C winter. Also does the shower come with any mounting brackets as currently my van has nothing to mount it to?
The temperature of the tank all depends on how much sunlight there is and what the ambient temperature is so I couldn't give exact temps. Though in our use it did get up to 40+ C (104-108 F) in the summer in direct sunlight in the southern US, and never got below freezing in the winter. Again it all depends on the climate though. Ours did include generic mounting hardware which we secured to Yakima round bars as well as a Yakima cargo basket.
Thanks! The tank is flat black and it's heated by solar. It won't get hot, but it does get the water closer to ambient air temperature (or very slightly higher) when in the sun.
*My 7 gallon will get 120+ in summer sun and ambient temp about 90. The roadshower shown in this video is 2 versions older. The next version has the fill cap and the air up port on same end next to each other not at opposite ends. The newest version eliminated the tabs with holes in them to be able to put a cable through it to secure tank to bars. Also the newest version has lockable mounting brackets now that come with tank purchase instead of the 2 saddle clamps with nuts that can easily be stolen.*
@@firstlylastly1410 *None come with locks that I know of. I had to buy the locks separately. Yes, I have the road shower 4. Yakima bought road shower out. So now the “newest one does not say road shower along the side of tank. Also yakima removed the 2 tabs on tank to run a cable through if you want. Yakima also increased the price by 100-200$. The lock set cost 100$.I hope this helps you.*
@@campervan7354 It does, thank you. What type of lock did you purchase? The Road shower 4 with the blue writing can be locked down though, correct? This is the model I have purchased and am waiting on, it said it was able to be locked but now I am concerned if I should cancel the order.
Thanks! Honestly, the 7 gal version is just right for our application and for the dimensional differences the extra 3 gallons wouldn't be worth the trade off. If we had a full-size truck the 10 gal may have been a good fit though.
Take the Truck , thanks for the reply. One last question, do you feel that mounting it outside the basket would subject it to the potential for damage? Or is it tough enough that this would not be a concern?
@@kevmscott It wouldn't be a concern, just have to be mindful when on the trail. If you were in a tight trail it would have a higher probability of getting caught on limbs/rock overhangs/etc. It's very substantial though.
Hello. Do you find the flexible shower head a bit short? It just looks like you’d have to be sort of tight up to the vehicle to take a shower. Do they have a slightly longer option? Thanks
@@takethetruck It looks like they are back in stock and available. Do you drive on the highway with water in your RS and if so, do you find that it alters the CG of your truck noticeably? Did you notice a decrease in MPG? Thanks!
@@asherdog9248 we did drive with it full most of the time we were traveling as we used it as our primary water container. Though it may not be practical on all vehicles, on ours we didn't notice a significant change in the feel of CG or impact to fuel economy.

I thought the road shower was not safe for potable drinking water?
That is what the yakima manual says although it does not specify as to why.

Does the water get naste over time if you have water sitting in it between trips?
Never experienced any after taste. But we drain it between trips, and flush with fresh water prior to filling before we leave. 👍🏻

@@MWDAdventures we use ours pretty frequently with our wolfwise shower tent. They offer an extended version that would be handy.
With the tank full and pressurized how long will the shower head spray before running out of water?
Hard to say, we never ran it completely dry in one sitting using the shower head. I'll try to test it out and let you know.

Yakima now produces the Road Shower, though it has been out-of-stock from time to time recently.
