STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS AND DETAILS PROVIDED IN THE VIDEO.

Baked in a preheated 325 degrees oven for 1 hour 5 mins. Your baking time may vary depending on your oven.

INGREDIENTS I USED:
3 C All Purpose Flour
2 C Sugar
1 Tsp Baking Powder
1/2 Tsp Baking Soda
1 Tsp Salt
1 C Buttermilk
2 Sticks UNsalted Butter
5 Large Eggs
1 Tbsp Vanilla Extract
1/2 Tsp Almond Extract
Dust with Powdered Sugar
**Sugar Syrup
1 C Sugar
1/4 C Unsalted Butter
1/4 C Water
Pinch of salt
2 Tsp. Vanilla Extract

In the reverse-creaming method, the dry ingredients are mixed together first. Adding fats into dry ingredients insures that flour particles are well coated with fat.
I make it all the time. Family favorite. Tastes better the next day after the glaze has completely saturated the cake.
Ms. Donna that is the reverse creaming method, it’s so much easier. There’s less room for error and over mixing.

Mrs. Donna this is my absolute favorite cake. For the holidays I get plenty of orders to buy. One day try vanilla bean paste it's brings the butter and vanilla out and you can see the bean paste throughout the cake with some vanilla bean icecream yummy 😋

Any time I make a cake that has a syrup glaze, I let the cake sit overnight. It has a chance for the glaze to seep into the cake, and it makes a big difference in the taste.
Do you glaze it first or the next day?
I glaze it after I take it out of the pan. I don't worry about glazing the cake in the pan because the glaze will go to the bottom naturally.
I am going to make it and add rum to the syrup. It looked straight forward and easy to make.

It's okay to let your syrup run down the insides of the pan. It would help to keep your sides from sticking. But it turned out beautiful. ❤️
Heeeeyyyy Donna. I hope you are doing well today. This cake seems so simple, but I think it's probably delicious and very moist. The syrup surely keeps it moist. If I decide to make this one, I think I will probably try using bourbon. Kentucky is known for their bourbon, so that's probably why it is typically used in this recipe. I don't drink very often, but bourbon has notes of vanilla in it and it has a slight smokiness to it. It probably plays very well with the sugar cookie flavor that you described. This one is definitely interesting. Thanks for sharing this recipe.

The cake looks so pretty.... it seems to be spongy and holding well the moist of the sugary liquid... i'd imagine it with pineapple juice too instead of the sugary liquid! I loved the shape of the cake... it has this flower spring feel to it... gorgeous. Thank you for showing us a new technique and how one can get very creative while baking!!
