Hi Guys!
In today's video I am so happy to share with you my new personal junk journal that I have created and am excited to start working in soon! I made this book to reflect everything I love. The theme is definitely botanical and floral, the cover was handmade and hand-painted, looks vintage and tattered. I used a few paints to create the perfect teal colour and some distressing techniques to make the paint crack and peel.
The papers inside are a gorgeous eclectic mix - the same mix I always use in my journals for sale. I am hoping to film lots of 'Junk Journal with Me' videos in this book and show you guys how I use the different pages, and how I approach different patterns, sizes, textures and types of paper.
The journal is mostly blank inside because this is how I like to make my own journals - I treat them as blank canvas I can work upon. It's also huge in comparison to my previous journal! 7 1/4 by 10 1/4 with a 3 inch spine - I'm so excited to try this new size.

Very beautiful journal, and your the first person I've heard saying to start with blank pages and work from there....I think that is a very practical and brilliant idea!!!! It never occurred to me and sounds perfect. I hope you show it again, after you have finished or after you have at least done some pages!!!

Thank you so much Kim! I usually don't use magazines in my journals, but I use a lot of book pages. In this one I used several of Reader's Digest gardening books :) And I have a tutorial for a similar cover here: czcams.com/video/a2FXb-ydAwI/video.html

Your signatures always come together so beautifully. I struggle the most with making them. I always start and then realize I don’t have nearly enough paper selected to fill the journal up lol.
Also, my covers tend to curl in and become rounded, do you have any tips for that? I suspect I’m using too much glue maybe.
Im Sa thank you for such kind words! I had a problem with my signatures too when I started making junk journals, but it gets better as you practice! ☺️ Now I really love going through my paper pads and books and random papers and selecting those I believe may look nice with the theme or colour scheme I have in mind. Don’t get discouraged! And with the covers - it might be the glue, but it may also be the material you use to make the cover. I use a very thick board, it’s 2mm and it is very sturdy. Maybe you could find some really thick board for your next cover and see if still curls? Hope this helps 🤗 don’t hesitate to ask if you have any other questions!
