I also traveled to both China and VN. China is so much cleaner and safer than VN. Many people including me keep returning to China but never want to return to VN after the first visit. I was almost got hit several times in the lawless traffic in VN. The poor sanitation, lawless traffic, lack of safe sidewalk, poor food handling, poor quality of food and farming, scams, pollutions, noise, and many things are the big factors that I don't want to go to VN.
I love travelling to China. I love the Chinese culture. Since the culture in Vietnam is not different from China and is a like a mini and/ or imitation, I would rather travelling to China than to VN.

I have lived in Vietnam on and off since 2008; sanitation including food handling and farming practices was very unsanitary at that time and has not changed for the better. Sure there are a few places where it appears to be better but pealing back the curtain would reveal a lack of proper sanitation. Glad you have finally noticed the trash situation which has been ongoing for a long, long time. Glad you are finally seeing the real Vietnam society.

Ah the Trash, no i've been making videos and talking about it since 2015, the start.
TYPICALLY though i was told I was ignorant, rude, didn't respect VN, was making drama out of a random plastic cup on the ground, etc etc...
I think im just getting older and maturing while VN is still the child in this.
One funny thing we were talking about last night, VN always says "Cars are new" when it comes to how bad Vietnam traffic is,
"It's been 27 years, and motor bikes almost 67 years......howmuch more time y'all need?"

@@EndlessTravels If you have ever stayed up late into the early morning partying with your friends, then you must have seen the army of elderly women that comes out early morning while everyone are sleeping and clean the street of trash thrown on the ground by everybody. The trash clean up crew were in all major cities. They have been having a hard time getting these women to comeback to the cities from their home villages after the lockdown ended. The government needs to pay the trash crew more money to get them back into the cities to keep everything nice for the rest of us in Vietnam.

    • @EndlessTravels
      @EndlessTravels  Před 3 měsíci +3

No the government doesn't need to pay any one any more of anything
The PEOPLE need to stop living like the world is their slave and destorying their own country
That would be a solution that would make Vietnam a seriously beatiful country again
Why pay these trash ladies MORE money to work faster, the only result will be more trash all over...
Band aids do not work in these situations, solutions do
That last part "Keep everything nice for the rest of us in Vietanam" again why don't the people keep it clean..>Vietnamese in fact have a very famous rep around SE Asia and outside such as Japan and Taiwan for being the dirty loud ones
Again Vietnamese need to clean up their own trash and stop throwing sh** every were, peeing on everything, than demanding every one else clean up after them..
Not saying you do this, i am talking about the other 99.999.999.999 Vietnamese that think its okay to destory theor own country than complain about it being destroyed

@@EndlessTravels Hey man, you know that the Vietnamese are the New Yorker of SEA. They are a little pushier, louder, and more aggressive in every situations. It is a part of their culture to be loud and obnoxious, especially with their motor vehicles horns. Being loud and aggressive is a deeply ingrained part of the Vietnamese's culture, just as throwing trash on the ground for the cleaning crew to clean up after them is a part of life now. You can put garbage cans out there, but you will not get the Vietnamese people to use the garbage cans when they can just throw their trash on the ground. I personally thought that the ladies cleaning crew were doing a great job with keeping Vietnam clean back in 2019. The ladies were cleaning every nights, and in America, they only dump the trash cans once a week and clean the street with the sweeper machines once every month.

    • @EndlessTravels
      @EndlessTravels  Před 3 měsíci +2

I can see that at the same time in general Americans are not throwing trash all over, peeing in public places and when a storm comes and goes you don't go out side with a land fill floating past your house.
The culture here with pollution is just wild, i would not compare it to NY, NY got what? 2pac, Biggie, Trump, Stock market, etc etc
      Vietnam has...?
Culture wise if you've ever done some time, sorry lived in China you'll see the difference between China and Vietnam's culture is almost null...
There really isn't anything i have found in Vietnam that was unique, but more adjusted from Chinese culture and /or renamed and claimed
The ladies cleaning, though they do good work i'd never take from that, but their jobs COULD be 10000% easier if the 100 million people around the country were not trashing the place all day, and if they stopped that these ladies wouldn't need to be out every night having to clean up after grown adults that lack responsibilty and respect for Vietnam
Image in your area, if every one walking around was just tossing trash on the ground all day, and the mind set was "Ohh them ladies come at night to clean it, so its fine"
This is VN logic...its sad really because VN is becoming more of a land fill country by the year, and the global status prove it

Well wait....do foreigners have OTHER JOBS in Vietnam ?
I guess I am in a rare case with all of this. I would say EXPAND into other areas OUTSIDE OF TEACHING
Also ARE WESTERNERS COMPLAINING ABOUT paying 1.96 for a BAHN MI when CHIPOTLE and MCDONALD'S charge upward of 20 dollars now and almost 50 dollars for a family of 5.
Realign your priorities. Also, whats even funnier is this is ALL CHEAP. I sneeze at this kind of rhetoric. A BAHN MI at least 1 per day for 30 days only comes up to 60 dollars and RENT in some places is like 300 a month

There are other jobs, Engineering and Oil work are huge, this is mostly done by the Russian population. The issue is for a western the pay vs. time / benefits isn't worth it and ideally just teaching English has a better result plus the balance gives more free time.
Who wants to move to 3rd world Vietnam to work 60 hours a week and make half you'd make in the west?
And complaining about Banh Mi who? You know the honest move to make this video was not me and banh mi, i don't even eat bread, this came up with many of my friends who are Vietnamese that are asking me why everything is costing so much and their gov is silent.
But yeah comparing western price to VN makes no sense so need to reply to that idea..I think you missed the idea of the video but all is good.seems your doing good already why you need to be in a 3rd world country

Foreigners do have other jobs other than teaching. The problem is, in order to get those jobs you generally need a relevant qualification in that field (a Degree) and some hands on experience from back home, often a minimum of 3 years. A lot of these other roles are management, specialist or senior management positions in Construction, IT, Finance etc, so you can't go into them from a standing start with no experience. That's why the majority of western foreigners in Vietnam teach.

    • @EndlessTravels
      @EndlessTravels  Před 2 měsíci

Yes this is very true and accurate. Vung Tau is an excellent example for this in regards to engineers, Nha Trang for IT / office work, and Da nang there are off set jobs.
Def need to have the degree for them, there are trade off with them though
I've looked into Engineering jobs long ago in Saigon and wasn't a fan of the pay vs. hours per week and the working conditions
I've talked to many Russians that are oil engineers in Vung tau that love it and the pay is 4x a teachers with benefits.
A lot of these jobs though are not something you can apply for or do people tend to when they are in VIetnam. Unless you know someone it's not so easy, a lot of people i meet here over the years that do corporate based jobs typically transfered, Koreans and Japanese are HUGE for this in Vietnam for example.
I would say for anyone wanting to come to Vietnam to work and not be a teacher the top 2 degrees are Engineering and a Business management degree. Both should be of a Master's level at least.
Good call out though on this, the reason i don't mention it is 99% of people looking to move to Vietnam to work typically are not going after these jobs nor get them. But your 100% right on the option to do so

It's seriously getting horribly bad this year, Hanoi is just a over cast of clouds 24/7, the ONLY time the skies are clear is when its raining. This is due to most don't go out to drive and facotries close sooner.
I remember during CVD the gov had all stay in their homes for 8 weeks, I have NEVER seen Saigon so clean in my life, it was more clean than Singapore..All you had to do was remove the people...
Now Image if each person picked up 5 trash a day and put it in the trash all while NOT throwwing more on the ground..
Vietanm would be 100% more clean than most of SE Asia, and a tourist heaven for so many...
On most blogs, the complaints of Vietnam are 3 things, Pollution (Air and ground), scams, noise
All 3 things are self inflecting things, we could never get away with in any other part of Asia besides China, and thats simply because respecting those around us is important to Asian culture. Vietnam though - not at all

English teaching in Vietnam was never going to get you rich. A few good jobs in the past, but the market was kids last time I worked there. The proper schools give you a year's visa, so only C-grade "schools" make you visa run constantly. I think it's great Vietnam is weeding out the "will teach for beer" set. I noticed more and more people using plastic gloves to handle food when I was there last, so I'd say food handling was on the improve. Vietnam isn't Japan. You're going to find trash and it isn't in their culture to recycle their trash or dispose of it properly. You deal with that fact or you don't go there. I fully agree about that female aspect. Korean women are completely into themselves, and Vietnamese women are increasingly so. Vietnam and Thailand need to have clear, stable and transparent visa laws, but those two countries aren't sophisticated enough to have that yet. Both are fun and great value tourist destinations, but to hell living there.

    • @EndlessTravels
      @EndlessTravels  Před 3 měsíci +3

To be fair i never said it was a "Get rich" job, and making 1200 a month is not at all anything near rich even in the povery of Vietnam. With Visa runs this is fading away fast, as the gov is now requiring schools to have their teachers having work permits and at that point a TRC takes a few days after and makes the teacher Visa exempt.
If any "C" schools are still doing Visa runs for their teachers, they won't make it past June.
With the food and trash, I am NOT comparing it to Japan i stated if you DID such things in ANY OTHER country in Asia you would get treated poorly or not respected. Vietnam is the #4 nation on EARTH to be the biggest pollution provider to oceans. Vietnam is NOT a big country yet out pollutes most of the west combined.
The sad part of this as i said in the video, no one cares. "It's not my problem" mind set sadly.
It wil only get worse befause the younger generation are becoming more healthy and aware, but still carry on that "Not my problem" mind set
Thailand's 100% needs to fix their visa none sense, Thailand has to be the hardest Work permit visa country in all of Asia, and its not becuase of process its because no one refuses to do anything unless they get paid not to mention the rules change every 3 days...I personally gave up and got an Education visa later on and hung out at gyms working out instead

It really is a great city, clean, not noisy, people have respect..This sounds rude maybe but it lacks the True Vietnamese culture you'd see in Saigon or Hanoi so it's different and in a good way.
I coiuld burn examples all day on why this is true but i won't anger every one so fast :)
Thailand is getting more tricky for sure. If you DO have some cash an Elite Visa is the best way to go its long term, it gives you everything you'd have as a business owner and doesn't require a busines nor marraige

I agree, so another nation like China or Germany takes it over.
Your aware ALL of Asia was over taken by China in history, Africa went though an even more violent version of that. Out of all nations were would you prefer communist chaos or a nation with some level of freedom.
Native Americans were killing, R@Ping, and destroying each other for position within land, that stopped. Sure the point to get out of that was do the same with force, but the last 200 years have been pretty good
Would you rather live in America in a tribe killing, enslaving others, and dying by the age of 35 from assaults at a rate of almost 80%?
Those that talk this Native American land is stolen truly have no understanding of Human history at all..
      Vietnam itself is STOLEN land.
Vietnamese stole it from China, took Chinese culture, Chinese food, clothes, language, and communist ideas and changed the name
Name one thing in Vietnam that is Original
      Nothing,
You think Pho is ONLY in Vietnam..Goto Hong Kong or Bejing it's common street food for factory workers and has been for over 4000 years.
The clothing, is a longer dress version of 3000 years of Chinese emporier history of China, search google its not hard to find.
The language? 6 tones, and words are All taken from Chinese language, NOT to mention Vietnamese first language in the start was Chinese.
Vietnam war history proves this. SO doe sthe Old city in central Vietnam
Goto Central or North Vietnam to see the history of VIetnam.
Even the great leaders of VN all spoke Chinese
      And my favorite, TET...
It is LITTERLY Chinese new years
The colors decortations, latterns, lights, dragon dances, moon cakes, song styles, dances, water puppet shows, dates, drinking customs "Mot hai ba yooo",, this is in fact a Chinese military tradition not Vietnamese.
      the list goes on
Hell, Vietnam even changes their Lunar dates when China does, which happens ever 4 years
      So with that,
Should we give Vietnam BACK to China as it's Chinese land?
Your logic ideally destroys Vietnam's existence and takes away it's entire history and independence from China.
Learn history and understand why you are not a slave in 2024 but rather free with options to make choices..
Vietnam is a great country because it moved forward and improved from the past
And America became a nation that gave millions a new life and changed our lives for the better even thoguh the Gov there tends to act a fool at times.
Your throwing stones from a glass house with your statement.

To be fair what is difference between Vietnam and China at this point, from food, holidays, clothing, laws, actions, etc they are just mirrored states at this point
It's honestly a predictor of what is about to havppen in VN by seeing what CN is doing

VN is done with foreigners taking advantage of VN.

    • @EndlessTravels
      @EndlessTravels  Před 3 měsíci +3

Is it Foreigners taking advantage of Vietnamese? I haven't seen any westerns trying to cheat venders, i haven't seen westerns trying to abuse their power for documents, i haven't seen foreigners fighting with local staff over cost to save some money, I also see Foreigners picking up trash and not peeing on everything while yelling in public at local events making it unpleasent for the locals at restaurants and public areas.
I DO though see Vietnamese do this to the local people, businesses, and governments so,
Who is taking advantage of who?
Remember Vietnam is a VERY poor undeveloped country that is 50 to 70 years behind the world, you take away the iPhone and cars Vietnam really is just a farm land with a lot of plastic in the ocean and land.
Vietnam's exports have also been declined to JUST coffee due to teh massive pollution problems in the farm land, You know in China only 8% of the farm water is usable the rest is overly polluted, is Vietnam trying to copy this like TET was copied from China?
You know this pollution problem could stop tomorrow IF Vietnamese respected Vietnam and cleaned their own country??
It's wild Vietnam destroys its own country and doesn't respect it than talks about "WE #1"
#1 what? Trash on the ground, smelling of pee all over, or flooded roads when it rains becuase sewers are broken because they full of plastic and trash?
In addition in the last 2 years 7 MASSIVE Foreigne companies have left Vietnam due to fraud, lied about numbers, and staff just not working and being unproductive while stealing products and reselling them for personal profits
It's not hard to find Gucci, Nike, and Addidas at street markets for very cheap, why is that? Is this foreiners taking advantage of Vietnamese?
Sorry i talking to much, the question, "Who is taking advantage of who?"

No the cops took care of the 1000's of Vietnamese opening fake companies that issues fake businesses visas not to mention the 107 Gov officials arrested and fined for signing off on over 75k of business visas just in 2019
Ah and i looked into the cooking oil companies, there are in fact 3 main ones in South VN, they are owned and monitored by outside national businesses that own them by brand, the products they make are exported from factory.
So same with fake clothes they will get leaked out to the public as defects or cheaper versions are made and again leaked out to venders to sell..
"Gutter oil" is a real thing and has been going on for a VERY long time...its just now being seen in public in the last few years
