I always feel like her winks are just for me.
No theyre for me!
They are for both of you 😉
They made me smile every time 🤣
Hahah! You are not alone! Although we are 😉
I just spent $23 on Taco Bell delivery because I didn't want to go pick it up, so...I'm watching this video.
i spent 500 dollars in a week and a half on food delivery apps. i am going to heal myself.
but remember a taco might be 15$. sure petrol much is a little but think about the incremental wear and tear on the car wheels and milage per fluids in car.... sometimes gets complicated. in the end it get's close and you help a business. just my thoughts haha
It sounds ridiculous when you say it but I did the same thing 2 days ago😂😂😂
@@zsuzsisz9263 hahaha, the struggle is real!
Another “expense” to account for is an “emergency fund” that stays in savings. An emergency fund should be set up to cover your fixed expenses in the event that you can’t work for a period of time. CoVid made this clear to me that this emergency fund is necessary.
My very basic way of budgeting is: fixed/planned costs, groceries, eating out, needed things, and unneeded things. Really cut down on random purchases on once I saw how much I was spending on things i didn’t necessarily need.
I might adopt this approach... My current budgeting is wayy to detailed and complicated and I end up not using it most of the time 😩
I already budget but it's great to see Lefie bringing her usual chill to a topic that's often stress-inducing.
I budget on paper because it somehow feels more real and tangible.
I have 'Fixed expenses', a set food budget for fresh food, pet supplies, an optional monthly allocation towards a bulk food order like meat from a local farm, and a small amount I can put towards a clothing item or craft supplies.
that's basically it at the moment because I'm on such a tight budget but I'm not finding it stressful because, with a budget, I know the essentials are always covered :D
Hmm google sheets are good I use one for keeping track of my weekly spending, I can use it on the phone or the computer, and if you use a debit card for 90 % or more of you spending it is easy to track. I have an allocation for the cat of course! He's only little and dosen't cost much. Lefie, when you do get a cat I'll fall of the couch - and post that! :-)
Love your work
Steve
Thank you for breaking things down in such a clear and straightforward way!
Great username! 😁
@@Lefie thank you! I am no where near being a minimalist but the philosophy is very intriguing to me and I hope to move further towards less consumption and more intentional living bit by bit.
Also, don’t forget to look at your budget and decide clearly what are “needs” vs. “wants”. Then you can decide clearly where you have flex in your budget.
the disclaimer at the opening was the best
Watching the video: "Wow this is really insightful!"
Watching the video after reading the description: "Hair"
Your parents must be so proud of you, sheesh, I‘M proud of you!! Go, Lefie!! 👍👍👍
I'm just commenting for the algorithm.
The algorithm must be fed!
@@dianeaishamonday9125 That's right
I've always seen creating a budget as the same sort of idea as losing weight. A lot of people complicate it with fancy diets and intense workout routines that don't work for them in the long run, when really they just need to focus on what's coming in and what's going out. A simple and healthy diet paired moderate exercise goes a long way, and so does being aware of your income and your spending with a simple method like what you've outlined in this video.
I just love how you go to the point while being crystal clear
Nice approach! I currently use the 6 jars/buckets system. 50% for needs (the fixed and flexible I guess, which is made easier as I'm still at my parents' but I plan on only moving out when I can live on 50% of my income), 10% for each of the following: donating/gifting, saving, investing, pleasure and extra education of some sort (books, extra courses, skillshare/masterclass, that sort of thing). Although some times I get impulsive, but the 10% dono is usually the first thing I do
Craaazy how i was just thinking about budgeting and this came up. Thank you!! For saying it so simply and informative way
Thank you SO much for this video (and all of your videos). You make seemingly daunting tasks feel so simple and easy to tackle. It brings me back to center and helps me prioritize and strategize in a much more effective way!
great tips ! i love this approach of splitting the spending into flexible and optional. I will do that on my budget spread sheet. can't wait for the next video !!!
Nice content Lefie! The first step to change is awareness 😁 I like how you broke it out here. I did this a few years ago and it has been helpful for me to manage my money.
I've been recording my expenses for a while now but definitely was a journey! I didn't know how to handle money when I got my first job, was years and years of me just not knowing where my money was going. I loved the tip on how you organized the expenses, definitely going to use it!
i would love if you did a video about the basics of investing. how to even get started using an easy app or website and what the important words or things you need to look out for mean.
The three buckets idea is brilliant, thanks! 😄
Once again a side step from the norm! Normal advice given here ( on Tube) involving envelopes and lists of hundreds - calm and straightforward you have strong different approach! Brilliant! Just brilliant!
Liked how you managed to make simple things people think that are complicated! In reality we should all be able to organise our budget if we follow a certain approach (like the one you presented here)! Thanks
Thanks for including us variable income folks!
I started tracking my spending this year with 3 categories- household (rent or apartment related costs like repairs) essential (groceries, hygiene/health stuff) and treats (everything else). I did it to show myself that I'm not really spending much at all. I tend to get stupid anxious about spending on anything beyond essentials- an attitude I developed while being chronically underpaid after college which, although I have a legit and well paid job now, I'm still working to shed. It's hard to strike the right balance between enjoying life now and preparing to be done with work as soon as possible to be free to focus on my own projects 100%... so long way of saying tracking spending works both ways- to reign in spending and to show yourself it's ok to spend on something extra if you're in the position to do so.
Thanks Lefie! I've started to become more mindful of my expenses, and especially the amount that I'm saving. Definitely going to give this idea of listing all the expenses a go in my monthly review! ✌ Even though I've made significant changes from last year, I'm still running short on money every month, whoops!
Thank you very much for this series. I am currently a student living off my parents money and I don’t have any capacities left next to my university stuff to get a job and with that more money. So for me the not-buying perspective is the only perspective I have right now.
yes lefie, give me financial advice, i'm here for it, YES!!!!!!!
I learned a lot, thanks for this video
Thanks for this 👍
I didn’t see the hair on your shoulder until you mentioned it. Damn it!
I have a DENY DENY DENY budget. Due to this type of budget and a certain current situation, I only spend on necessities and not on stuff I think I need or want. This helped me to save a large amount of money, that came in handy a few days ago when my 5 yr old computer decides to break down. The DVD on it went first, then the built in mouse pad went next. I tried to use an external mouse, but it did not appear to be a good solution. After thinking the situation through, decided the expense of getting a new computer was worth the effort. Surprisedly still have considerable amount of funds, and will continue to follow through with my DENY DENY DENY budget.
How do you keep reading my thoughts?? Thank you for the video. You’re my best friend!
for the grocery and food we set a monthly budget not to be exceeded and if there is any left we place it in an account that earns little but whose money is available immediately. once the interest has been given by the bank we use it or to supplement the vacation budget or to buy us something that will make us happy or we leave it at the bank
👏🏼✌🏼❤🙏🏽
Btw, I can recommend Notion a lot for doing things like this! Because you can make different views for your database it makes it so much easier to see what's going on! Hopefully they'll include graphs and such as well some day 🤞
30 years ahead of you 😁

me, watching in 144p: mwah hah hah.........
A few years ago after getting out of university I realized I wasn't really saving any money. So I started throwing chunks of money into a savings account each paycheck and not touching it unless there was an emergency. Like breaking the laptop I needed for school. I've lowered my expenses and reduced the amount of wants I buy. So I second hand shop, borrow library books, and just don't buy as much stuff as I used to.
I'm still horrible about getting take out though. That I need to work on.
I know you're not a fan of labels (and normally me neither), but I can't stop wondering what MBTI type you might have?
You're very inspiring, keep up the good work!
I wouldn’t have noticed the hair if you didn’t mention it lol
See you next week 👍
The first thing people need to do is look at what makes them feel safe, comfortable, or pampered. Consider why they like these things. This will make confronting that aspect easier when they get down to the numbers. Budgeting won’t make a difference to many unless they visually consider something other than rules. Budget = rules Absolutely, it’s about values.
pay yourself first. save first....like on payday.
most people save whats left after spending, i spend whats left after saving. once you’ve dialled this in, you can gradually increase the amount you save.

Et voilá! 😉

Fantastic content as always

Hello Lefie 😊 .
I'm always excited for your videos on Sunday. I'm definitely going to try some of these best practices 🤓.
Have a great week 😉
Hope you have a great week as well, Silvia. 😁
I watch just for the wink
What do you recommend for people that have a normal income from a 9 to 5 and are making money on the side with varies from 0 a month to 300. I sell handmade things on a small Plattform, sometimes I make a few hundred, sometimes I have two months without any orders. Would you use the average, I mean lowest makes no sense cause it’s 0, or maybe the median? Bc i think the median could make more sense right? Love your vids 🥰
I'd create a budget based on my 9 to 5 and set the additional income aside as something separate. Maybe use that for new materials, improving your work/studio space (or wherever you make your handmade things from).
Or set it aside for some kind of emergency fund (not bad to have), or if you're saving up for something. Just my opinion obviously, but view it as something separate/additional of your main 9 - 5 budget.
But that aside, if you want to budget your additional income for whatever, yes, I'd go for the median. Because if you take the lowest 0, you'll obviously not have anything to budget on :P
@@Marczking yes that was the way I was already doing it, except materials I paid them from my 9 to 5 budget :) I think I’ll keep just putting it into my savings right away and work with my 9 to 5
Lefie can you do a wardrobe tour?
And also my biggest hobby are plants, they give me so much joy. I don’t buy clothes, shoes, jewelry, makeup, tech stuff etc. Only plants stuff. Would you then make a monthly budget for that hobby, Bc making 0 room for it just to save more takes so much joy from me :( so I thought just planning 40€ to give me freedom for it would be a good option. Sometimes there are no plants on my wishlist anyways so then I can save it or add it to my plant budget. What would you do?
hey there! if plants 🌱 give you so much joy as you describe, maybe you should consider them as ‘soul food’ / really important to you (more than a hobby) - and give yourself the freedom ...
i.mo. causes of happiness: priceless ;)
@@cheshirecat772 yes that’s what I have been doing and I think I’ll stick to that. Also I kinda see it as investing in my future Bc I am actually opening a plant shop with a friend. So learning how to care for a lot of plants will be really helpful in the future ☺️
Did. you light your Hair By hairdresser? Looking Good
Thank you for this. :)
I spend nothing on subscriptions. 1/3rd goes on bills at my parents place. 1/3 is for food. And the rest is either savings or occasional treats such as actually paying public transport, drinks, sweets or gifts. So yeah. Seems like there is no room left for cutting on expenses. So how do I expand the room? Make a video on it, but: do not reccomend moving away or finding a better job. I challenge you. Good luck! And thanks for the vids.
👍👍
I have a budget...don't spend money. But something always comes up and I end up spending it all. 🤷🏻♂️
It’s safe to assume that the bulk of your watchers all make that click sound with you at the end. :)
Wonderful video! Question, what's your website for? :)
Hi, Jack! It's currently under construction...
