These are the kind of spots we look for on vacation, the hot spots are awesome but you get a unique taste of local wonder at a place like this; a real feel for the land. Definitely a must-stop if, no WHEN, I get there.

My daughter and I visited this Park in 2005, and we agreed that This Park is not like Glacier, and that difference makes it enjoyable! The National Park concept can be adaptable for many types of environments, including those that are more subdued. Waterton has a lot to offer: walking the Township shops and the horseback riding was worth the trip! Plus, we had some of the best Chinese food we've ever tasted (and we live in LA!)

Plan on stopping there next week while in Many Glacier and appreciate the tips on Waterton. You guys do a great job on your videos about the parks out west.

Thank you for your excellent videos. I really enjoy your channel. I absolutely love Waterton and have been there a few times. :-)

Dont forget Coppermine its a great hike similar to hiking inside Red Rock Canyon, great for kids. And Cameron Lake up the mountain. And Bears Hump hike. And down inside Red Rock Canyon. Some of the best parts of the park missed here.

Love the new videos on Glacier and Waterton Lakes. A couple of questions. How was crossing the border? Would you recommend taking a canoe from Midwest on a Glacier-Waterton-Banff trip?

I was wondering the same thing in regard to where and how you cross the border between the two parks.

You will have to drive outside the park. Most people use Chief Mountain border crossing. As for the canoe, that's a good idea since there are a ton of lakes. Of course, you can rent canoes at nearly every lake but towing one may save money if you're planning on doing it all the time.

    Great travel videos!
I was hoping Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper were included in the Canada Play list. These parks are very expensive for families, I would like to know how to make these destinations affordable.

If you are an American, fly to Calgary, Rent a cheap car in the city. Then find a cheap hotel in Banff. People say stay in Canmore but Banff is better. More things to do. From Banff, you can hit the Major spots like Banff Avenue, Bow River and the Banff Centre, Mt Norquay lift to the top, Banff Gondola, You can even ho to Sunshine Village to hike up the trails up there. From Banff you can still hit Lake Louise to Moraine or Bow Lake and Peyto Lake along the Icefieds Parkway. Drove all the way to Columbia Icefields, The other National Parks are good to like Yoho where Emerald Lake is located and Kootenay National Park. From Banff you can also drive to Kananaskis Country up to Highwood Pass. The drive is one the best drives in Canada (nest to the Icefields Parkway). Have fun.

Waterton's catchphrase is, "where the prairies meet the mountains". So yes, you won't get the same feeling of being totally surrounded by mountains as you would in Glacier or even Banff or Jasper for that matter. But I still prefer Waterton for its less touristy, more laid-back vibe. I had lived in Alberta for 55 years and never visited Waterton until 2019, now it's an annual destination for me.
For good eats also check out Wieners of Waterton (they serve real Nathan's hot dogs) and Zum's Eatery.

We are going to Glacier this summer. Plan to visit Waterton. Saw response about border crossing, what about cost to get into park? Take US dollars or do we have to use Canadian? Thanks for your videos! Safe travels

Waterton's fees are separate from the US Glacier side. You can get a day pass, here is the link to the website for more information: parks.canada.ca/pn-np/ab/waterton/visit/tarifs-fees. I believe they take American cash but you will probably get Canadian money if you get change. They also take credit cards. You will also need a passport to cross the border.
