- How many remember the brand Friends u cant trust? FUCT is in fact one of the older streetwear brands out there, and often don't get credit for all the influence they have had on the genre.
FUCT basiclly, is the originator of a brand of street fashion that intentunally makes people uncomfortable. One of the most purely artistic anti authority brands out.

I used to talk with Erik all the time back in 2006 - 2010. We were in the midst of starting up a music project that never happened then he kinda just disappeared. It's crazy the amount of people that were blatantly stealing his ideas. He would always send me side-by-sides of fairey, bape, supreme, etc. using his renders but slightly changing them to make them their own. I don't think that many people realize that how big of an influence he had to "Streetwear" which was all about not fitting in and rebelling against the status quo. That's what the "Street" in streetwear was in the 90s. It was when the brands started realizing they could create FOMO (fear of missing out) taking advantage of the supply and demand by limiting drops which started blurring the lines of street and luxury. That's when everything changed.
If it keeps them in business I don’t think it matters how a streetwear brand operates or if their releases are limited or not. What separates luxury from the rest is retail price and seasonal offerings.
@@ZacharyVered But that's the problem. There's a difference from "keeping them in business" and purposely creating less product in order for the demand to raise which in turn creates a more valuable product. This is intentional. Some of these brands might not be price gouging but it does create resellers who buy up everything just to resell it for a higher price. From a business perspective this is actually a really clever method but in turn it also leaves a bad taste in your mouth for the people who aren't able to get it. That's what I mean by blurring the lines. Also, this idea that the only difference between them is retail and seasonal is just BS. First off, luxury also has retail and seasonal prices it's just more expensive and the resale value pretty much stays the same unless it's damaged. Street wear, on the other hand, becomes more expensive as it the items are sold.

I had a FUCT t-shirt that had a photo of The Warriors on it, back in '94, here in Liverpool, England. I wore it a few times every week for about 3 years, until it had holds in it. Also, didn't they have something to do with the cover of The Pharcyde's first album?
