I feel like somewhere in Esther’s heart she did care about her children she just took the wrong path with them and l think Esther loved Klaus the most because he was the product of real love that wasn’t forced or untrue she should have told Klaus about his werewolf heritage instead of not telling him and forcing him to be something he wasn’t she wasn’t a bad mother she just thought the things she was doing was protecting her children she just took the wrong path with them
Obiviously she always cared about her children infact really loved them! But she just didn't want More killing of innocent people because of Vampires that's why she wanted to kill them.... But even in TO she give them option to be live in another body.... But yeah even I think she loved Klaus more than others... Even in childhood scene she said "you are the most special "... And even though Klaus was very rude and cruel with her she still cared about him more than others who loved her like fin,kol!

The Originals is VERY underrated. It's a brilliant show. Solid storyline, emotional script, deep complex charcters and amazing group of actors. It deserved so much more recognition. One of my favourite shows of all time ❤

She was a great character. Her and her sister Dahlia, one of the strongest witches in history, each had their own burden. One was abandoned by the only family she had ; the other had to watch for centuries her children growing into vicious monsters and it was her mistake.
Her character was always misunderstood imo she was stuck between a rock and a hard place from her duties as a wife a witch and a sister, to her love of klaus the product of an infidelity which most of us can understand considering she said she hadnt experienced true love until she met klaus birth father. To her pain of losing freya then Henrik but if you ask me her greatest mistake was the fact her favorite klaus who represented the happiest moment of her life given klaus was the product of true love and yet klaus and her never got a chance to make up truly sad
Yeah... Klaus killed her 2 times... I didn't feel bad for that honestly cause somewhere she deserve that.... But still i realized that she always really loved Klaus... And he was very special to her... I really wish he had forgiven her... They were together Atleast for once!
I agree with everything you said, which is why I really wanted the originals to invest a little more time with the Esther and Klaus’s father. Maybe even Mikael. I think we all knew they were going to die, I just wish that maybe they could’ve showed how Esther was trying protect Klaus from Dahlia when trying to murder Hope, or how Mikael felt betrayed or even how much Klaus’s father wanted to know him. I mean we don’t even know if Klaus has any other siblings from his dad’s side! Instead the storyline’s we’re severed at a time where they could’ve been HUGE!

@@atmshah How do you show that trying to murder your granddaughter was you trying to protect your son? Sure, Dahlia was coming for Hope, but any other mother would've stood with her family to protect Hope and own up to what they did- not take the easy way out and try to murder a baby without even giving an explanation. And, if she really wanted to protect her family, she should've done a better job protecting her children (and by children, I mean Klaus) from Mikael who, at one point, pinned him to a tree and left him to die.
And I don't want to hear about how she couldn't because he was stronger than her or because that's how it was in those times; Esther was an incredibly strong witch who could've easily stopped Mikael from harming Klaus, but chose not to because she chose her husband over her child. And, even if she wasn't strong enough to stop him, she could've gotten help from a fellow witch like Ayanna or her own sister who probably would've helped her since she knew what it was like to be under the thumb of powerful, abusive men.
I never really hated Esther and now, after watching this I've actually come to understand her a bit. This video is brilliant.

I don't know what other thinks but I think the Original was and is and always will be the best story line of all times and think that they could have do more of the Original in the Vampire Diaries and in the Original and can do more in Legacies specially when freya is coming back. And maybe if TVD would make Tatia vampire and she would sick for revenge maybe it would save TVD only imagine Katherine and Tatia

I'm still so bloody heartbroken. Honestly, I'm just refusing to acknowledge the fact that they are all dead (apart from Kol of course). They could've done so much more with them. They deserved so much more.

I'm one of those people who actually really liked Esther's character when she was introduced. I thought they made her extremely complex and interesting. And I was so happy when she returned on the The Original.

The children are haven worst the fact that you are still hurted people and gaining joy from it make them true monster's (whit expection). That make them great characters because the show not only show us their psych but do not justify what they did. Making them the complex character they are I not saying you have to like her but to not think that she is the biggest evil in the series. She has her own raising and trauma that she have to live whit and trying to kill Hope a little girl that did nothing wrong is horribly, the convention that she put to correct her "Mistake" is honorable. Like Elaja novelty and Klaus power.

You've just made me like Esther a little more haha. The video shows how complex of a character she ( and Mikael too ) is. The choice of voiceovers and clips is perfect and I love the mix of the flashbacks and the modern scenes. 1:45 - 1:49 and 2:59 - 3:08 are my favorite parts but I loved it from the beginning to the end.

Mikael wasn't complex. He was a angry bullying man that didn't truly loved his family. He was the only one I didn't have some compassion trough all the series.
@@PatriciaSantos91 He did love his family but when he found out Klaus was not really his son and Esther was cheating on him he got angry and also Elijah, Rebekah, Kol and Finn sided with Klaus because they thought Mikael killed Esther.
@@vishwassuresh6308 He abused a little kid and everyone fear him. They did not respected him, they feared him. All his sons and daughters and even his wife feared him. And he was specially worse with Klaus but the way they show the scenes and his brothers reactions he was probably an abuser to them all. And that's why it was so easy for them to side with Klaus and believe in him rather than his father. He was a violent man (unfortunately he needed to be violent in that era) and broke a sensitive kid.
Esther was such a wonderfully complex character who brought so much to the series. She only wanted to protect her children, her family, but in doing so she unleashed so much tragedy and despair unto the world after she turned her children into the Original Vampires. Strange to think how different the TVDU would be if Esther had never turned her children into vampires, but instead trained them all as witches.
The Originals is the most emotional show that I see.

I actually think klaus honestly regretted killing his mother the first time and felt bad for it whole 1000 years and was honestly happy when his mother returned. Had esther not decided to try to kill him the family might have been a happy one

She cursed him at least twice, allowed him to suffer horrific abuse and then a thousand years later only came back into his life to basically kill him because she was so ashamed of him. sadhana She was married to a Viking, credited with basically inventing black/dark magic, created vampires and took whatever bodies she wanted when she was resurrected but you think she all of a sudden cared about saving innocent lives? Not buying it. And you think that her loving Ansel was the ONLY mistake???? It wasn’t a mistake, it was a choice and it wasn’t just one. She lied, she cheated, she cursed him when he was only a child and watched him be tormented his entire life by her husband because watching her child being beaten to a bloody pulp was easier than just admitting she was a whore. She could have saved Klaus from Mikael but she refused and that had nothing to do with loving Ansel. She was the worst to Klaus but I can’t imagine how you could call her a good mother. To the child she basically sold as a slave to her sister or the others she allowed to be raised by an abusive monster? Because in case you forgot, he did actually abuse the other children as well, just not nearly as bad as Klaus.
The originals contained very intense and deep emotion. There won't be another series like this. There was one, and it's over. I will never forget this series. Always and forever.

Thank you for this video! Esther is a great character and kudos to the brilliant Alice Evans for her portrayal and to the other actresses who took on that role and managed to keep her essence.
Esther loved her children. Everything she did was to protect them, she was just misunderstood. I never understood Klaus' hatred for her.
Probably because she let Mikael torture him, physically and emotionally every day. She lied about his true father's identity his entire human life then cursed and stripped away his hybrid nature. All of that magnified after he was turned. And of course in s2 of TO she went after his daughter
I think Esther was such a underrated character. She had so many responsibilities that it made her seen like a bad person. We have seen the other side for witches and they are not very big on betrayal and to them, that's what Esther looked like. She must have had so much pressure for so many years to make her children die, so it is their time to go to the other time. She has to agree with her husband, love her children and uphold her witch duties to nature while dealing with the death of a son. Its not fair on her.
At least in the end she was the mother they all wanted. Sacrificed all for her children.
I really loved how Esters story ended and season 2 for that matter. One of my favorite endings of all seasons.

The originals is much much better than TVD because TVD is all about Elena Gilbert, her relationship with Salvatore brothers. But The Originals is all about family. That's what makes it very interesting

First time when I saw Alice Evans I was a kid and it was In 102 Dalmatians and when I was watching the vampire diaries I had no idea that it is the same actress because well I was a kid and I forgot but when I saw her name I find out that it's Alice Evans from 102 Dalmatians and the point of this story is that Alice is just an amazing actress, she is perfect Esther only thing she ever wanted it's her family safe no matter the cost and so she did by sacrificing her self and to be forgiven by her own sister and children this is why she is the greatest character of the original and the vimpire diaries. She is also from Grimm.

Esther may have loved her children but she definitely didn't love what she turned them into. I mean it was her fault that they were vampires in the first place, so it's hypocritical for her to hate them for it. She clearly does regret it though, an interesting character honestly.

I've seen vampire diaries thinking it was sooooo good! And now I started watching the originals and omggg even better 🥰😭
THE ORIGINALS IS, WAS AND WILL BE THE BEST SHOW, with the mosst amazing character development, the bold and heart touching storyline. and i am saying this because until i started watching tvd i never cried while watching a show, there were moments in tvd which made me emotional. but in the originals every freaking episode had something with one could relate to somehow, had something called surprise element. tvd was good until it became all about delena, but in the originals it always had villains with proper storyline and reason for the vengeance. dahlia came back to take what was promised to her. freya was introduced as a witch sister with a tragic story. esther came back to "protect" her children. lucien, tristan, aurora all came back to take revenge in the name of the prophecy, on the original family for what they did to them to survive. the hollow was introduced with a motive and a story with how the supernaturals came to exitence. EVERYTHING WAS SOO BEAUTIFULLY WRITEN, I DOUBT THAT I'LL EVER FIND A SHOW AS GOOD AS THE ORIGINALS
Never mind all Esther did before, she did what she had to in the end. She lived up to her promise when she said she would rather die than watch her children suffer.

The truth is Esther was a very bad mother, she betrayed Mikael, made a deal with Dialia even after knowing the consequences, made Klaus weak so Mikael always hated Klaus, She turned them into vampires, then came back again for ruining there finally perfect life. I really hate that witch and her sister !!!

I forced myself to watch TVD and - mostly didn't enjoy it but - in order to fully see and realize the depth of those thousand year old relations it had to be done. And I have to say: The actors of The Originals are by far better than those of TVD.

I hated the Originals characters in TVD season 3 and 4. But when I saw the Originals show I started to love them. TVD writers never wrote any character properly. That is why I love Originals more. The Originals is my most favorite show.
