I'd you wanna see another heavy Muse song, I'd recommend Dead Star. Came out around their 2nd album time back in 2002 and had a classic sound to it. Not sure which live performance would be best. Perhaps Live at V festival?
Hyper Music is up there! Maybe 'In Your World' as well. One of my favourite B-sides, although it's a pretty short song and I wish they'd extend it.

One of my favorite aspects of this song is their constantly changing tempo. Listen to the chorus and specifically what the drums are doing in relation to the count. Really drives home certain parts of the chorus when needed.

Great reaction of a great new Muse song, DH! The drum fill at the end of the breakdown gets me every time. The other thing to watch for is how they stage this in performance. My guess is it'll rock pretty hard, with bassist Chris making all of those howling sounds toward the end. Should be a treat to see. Thanks!

I am not a big fan of this song but the only reason I requested it because its heavy, Metal heavy and I knew you would love it. This is the 31 minutes reaction video I've ever enjoyed watching in my whole life. Thank you so much for this and for unnatural selection! Hi Dave! Great review!! We we were patient and it did pay off! They do indeed have other heavy songs is just that this one has that metal intention to it.
When you started the review explaining your score I thought you would go lower, but that score is high up! No need to explain what we all do, we all like songs that maybe they are not great written but they have a sweet spot for many reasons even if that reason is "BECAUSE I LIKE IT!" I strongly believe you are one of the greatest reviewers out there, and I would not call you a "reactor" ever.

I love sudden endings…particularly when they don’t allow the phrase to resolve. Of course, I enjoy music that makes you uncomfortable the most. I cannot stand the slow fade out. Makes me feel like a band just didn’t know how to end a song. Then you see them live and the ending they choose is so disappointing. Only time I’m good with a fade out is when it’s being blended with something else to introduce next track. Pink Floyd did this a lot. Great track and enjoyable reaction, Sir. Have a great day! 🤘🏼
No issue with the score David. You need to leave a few marks to raise it by when they hopefully deliver the live version and performance we are all hoping will push it that bit further!

When you're giving 9.1 I don't think you have to justify the idea that you may have given a few higher scores even if this is your new favorite, I was thinking if you were going to give a 7.x like he clearly likes it but maybe found something too predictable or whatever.
Personally this is a great track but I might go a little lower, the transition back from chorus to 2nd verse is a little jarring to me every time I hear it. Don't know if I'll ever get to see this performed live in person, but looking forward to seeing videos of this in future with some extended outro breakdowns and other such riffage - I always feel like they really enjoy playing their heavier songs live (they enjoy the others too of course) but this feels ripe for becoming a live favorite.
I recommend their song The Uprising - didn't find it in your playlist - I couldn't believe it! It is THE Muse song!

Exactly how I feel about the ending, needs about 15 secs more of slowed down breakdown riffage before it reaches silence, hopefully they will extend it live!

Slowly it becomes kind of amusing to me how you try to clarify it to us and yourself, while imo part of playing with feels of different measures is the ambiguity. Like... you're talking about the conceptual basis, or maybe which measure was the main idea for the drive of the song. Still I'd consider the verses as half-time off-beat reggae without regard for the later "double time" :D

I really respect seperating subjectivity from objectivity, I always try to do that when thinking of what my favourite is compared to what I think the best is, to me personally wsd is definitely far from my favourite, it's a great song and very well made but it's not something I'd go back to a lot
Perhaps you should grade songs like competitive Ice dancing! One score for technical merit and one for artistic impression! I do think a mark for how much you enjoy the piece would be appreciated by many of your subscribers and would prevent you having to explain your perfectly valid objective approach.

This song is a 10.This the only one i know them. Plus the video is one of the greatest of all time ,
I hear AlterBridge in the riff and chorus or more so when AlterBridge go for a Muse style song.
Interpretation; seems most folk completely miss the meaning behind the lyrics. The track has another title; 'Living Vicariously', & may be better described by a phrase from the song itself; 'Psychological Warfare'. For it's about a world-wide psychological warfare between a few old men (the old dude in a wheel chair) & the mindless masses (represented by those under his control). So the one singing the words is standing strong - outside the visuals - getting stronger by refusing to 'stand down', which is what he would be doing by joining the system of manipulation by the slave-master over the masses of mindless slaves. An outstanding song with incredibly intelligent lyrics by a most relevant band!
the riffs remind me of their other song, Bliss
Definitely not their heaviest in their entire catalog, but it's certainly heavier than most of the stuff they've recently put out. Their early albums (pre-Resistance) have a ton of heavier elements

It's a shame this song had to be cut down to 3minutes 30 to fit the radio edit. Doesn't look like there's going to be an extended version of this song. Hopefully it's given an extended outro live
as of 8:29 in yoru video, i'm pretty sure they're gonna drop into 5 at some point and use the same accent structure to make you fall over if you'r etrying to walk upt he stairs in time to this song.

This is the first Muse song I've listened to and while I get this is one of their heavier songs apparently, overall I wasn't that impressed with it. Is it a bad song? No. Have I heard this style better from other bands? Yes. To me it's like a worse version of Skillet's Legendary, the song this song reminded me of when David started mentioning the Tempo at around the 7:40 mark.

Actually it's one of my worst....3 full months and it hasn't broken 10k views.
The best is Nightwish - Ghost Love Score, it gained 10k views in just 6 days.

Muse tend to stop the studio versions relatively suddenly so that they can create a killer outro for the lives

i hate the new Muse production. It's so sanitized and corny sounding imo. They've really gotten shit over the years.

Keep the intro short. It was 6 minutes before you even started listening to the song. And you spend way too much time talking about a very generic time signature. I fast forwarded through a lot of stuff you were saying that really wasn't important.

Maybe he did dwell on a few things a little long in this one, but the technical stuff, time signatures, chord structure etc is one reason I come back - he notices the stuff others don't and I learn something about the song from his reactions that I might not have picked up on myself.
You might want to check your math....the song started at 4:31, not 6:00. Over a minute of that was spent naming everyone who requested this reaction, so they receive the attention and the credit they deserve for making this reaction happen.
If you don't like what I have to say, and you don't find my content to have anything of value....then why are you watching the channel at all? Go watch some of those other "reactors" out there who just nod their heads, make a bunch of faces, and say "That's fire yo". Seems like they'll be more to your liking. Enjoy them begging you to subscribe, like the video, ring the bell, join their Patreon, and buy their merch for 5 minutes in each video too.
Dude I don't understand why the hate? I can feel the anger from your message. It was barely 4 minutes and the reaction is one of the best on CZcams full honest review that you won't find on CZcams. The man dedicated his time to review the song and you are upset. It seems there is no way to please people no matter what you do.
