    Mahjong is a tile-based game that’s been played in Asia for over 300 years and is gaining global popularity. Although the game is hard to master, it’s fairly easy to learn the basics.

      You get your tiles and find out what sign will be the "impostor." Then, you need to remove the blank faces and the other words without numbers on them, unless one of these "money tiles" is the "impostor." All tiles need to be in a group such as three of the same simbles, the signs in order, 123, 234, 345, 456, 567, 678 or 789. You can also have a set of four tiles that have the same simble, if you'd like, you can flip your four cards face down. You need a foundation which is two of the same simbles. When you win you call out "Hu le" and reveal your complete set of tiles.

    As a majiong player they are missing very key detail;
    There are three sets of 10 numbers from bamboo pancakes and the characters.
    You also collect 4 sets of 4 tiles at the beginning of the game
    When you restart a game you will build 2 layers stacked above each other with 18 tiles in each layer
    You rotate to be the first person.leader and you draw first, and roll the dice. The dice determines which layer of tiles we will start off from. Once you have collected the tile you then make your first move. After that regularly you take one and throw it into the pile in the middle.

    This video didn't include some other information that is pretty important. Although the best way to learn is by actually playing it, I'll put down some additional info below. If it's confusing, just ask and I can clarify.
    You don't need 4 people to play every time. You can also play with three, or even two, but it's a lot more fun to play with 4.
    You can 'pong' anytime when someone drops a tile, but you can only 'chi' if the tile you need is dropped by the person before you.
    You don't roll the dice to decide who goes first (or at least, that's how I know it). You roll it to determine how many tiles you skip.
    When you 'gong', you put the tiles down and pick another tile from the group of tiles that you skipped at the beginning (^).
    When you 'chi' and 'pong', you must put the tiles down, face up.
    When you draw a tile and get a 'gong', you can choose to put them face up or face down when putting them down.
    If you 'gong' from someone else's tile, you must put it face up.
    There are 3 main groups of tiles and 1 group of special ones: Circles, numbers, and sticks. Then special.
    For the special group, it is impossible to 'chi', but it is possible to 'pong' or 'gong'.
    The way 'chi' works is that it needs three tiles of the same group in consecutive order.
    For example, you have circle 5 and circle 7. The person before you puts out a circle 6. You can 'chi' their tile, but you lose your turn to draw from the center.
    The little birdie is not a special tile. It may seem strange, but it's actually the 1 of the sticks group.
    Every time you draw a tile, 'chi', 'pong', or 'gong', you must put out one of your tiles.

    I was excited to learn mahjong in 2.5 minutes. I’m more confused than ever before.

  • @kurlexchoi
    @kurlexchoi Před 3 lety +17

    There are still certain rules not explain here in 2.5 minutes. Some tiles can pick up by certain players when is discarded depend on the set and who is more authorize to pick up discarded tiles if more than one player need that same pieces. Also! the player who discarded the tiles that help one of its opponents to win that game has to pay a full or double price while the other two only pay half of its amount. If a player win the game by getting the tiles off the set, then everyone has to pay the full amount.

    In some counties here in China people would use ZHONG (an honour tile) to represent any tile (it can be whatever tile you want it to be) - this brings in tons of variations and really challenges people's mind. But it's more exciting to play. Also people would set four, or six, or eight as betting for either players themselves or even bystanders - it makes the betting much higher and somtimes crazier. Anyway, Majiang is such an addictive game

      There's way too many variations in Asia.
      But basically a short run down is that there are points we call them " Tai ".
      If you have no flowers or animals you have 0 points. You can't win the game like this. Either you wait until a flower comes to you, or you can form patterns.
      The most basic pattern is called " Peng Hu ". Basically you can only form patterns that are in ascending order. So 4,5,6 or 3,4,5. And you must have a pair of tiles that we call an eye.
      You cannot have 3 of the same or you cannot game.
      Extra restrictions are, your eyes can't be the direction tiles that are your wind or the general wind.
      Okay this is complicated but every round there is a " wind " associated with it. It's either east, south, west, or north. If you form 3 of a kind with that win, it's automatically 1 point. If you get 4, everyone pays you.
      And the place you're seated at determines your direction too. The dealer is east, and going anti clockwise, south, west, north.
      Another restriction with Peng Hu is that if you want to end the game eating someone else's tile, it can't be the middle
      For example, if you have
      4 and 6 bamboo and you're waiting for 5 to game, you can only win by taking it yourself you can't win by eating others.
      The only way is if you have 5 and 6 bamboo then you can win by eating 4 or 7.
      Peng Hu gives you 4 points immediately. If you win by yourself everyone pays double. If someone gives it to you, the person pays double.

    The Tiananmen Square protests, known in China as the June Fourth Incident,[1][2][a] were student-led demonstrations held in Tiananmen Square, Beijing, China, lasting from 15 April to 4 June 1989. After weeks of unsuccessful attempts between the demonstrators and the Chinese government to find a peaceful resolution, the Chinese government declared martial law on the night of 3 June and deployed troops to occupy the square in what is referred to as the Tiananmen Square massacre.
