    @joshuapboston1999 Před 6 měsíci +37

    1. Alex Bowman's paint Scheme is very reminiscent of his 2021 scheme. I personally like it!
    2. Having Honda join NASCAR would be a major deal, and I think I would be for it. The question then becomes what model they would use?
    3. Rockingham back on the Cup Series schedule would be big, and we can once again have the Subway 400 and they can start Cup racing once more.
    4. I am of the opinion that the Charter system has run its course. Nobody wants to see a team that is 15 seconds off the pace lock themselves into the field. If you want my opinion on the matter, and I told some of the higher-ups in NASCAR in a letter this as well, it's best to have the 43 fastest drivers in qualifying make the race. There should be no top 35 rule, no playoff or Charter system, no gimmicks or nonsense.
    But beyond those points, I hope everybody has a very happy holiday season, and I wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

      4. thats why NASCAR needs to actually enforce their competitive clause and confiscate the charter(s) from RWR for being bottom 3 in owners points 3 years in a row

    • @FormerlyYBMT
      @FormerlyYBMT Před 6 měsíci +1

      Yeah, I don’t like the charter system at all. I would prefer the fastest cars making the field. However, I understand why the teams want the guarantee. They have A LOT of money tied up in this, so they want to be sure they’ll make the show. Tough to convince a big sponsor to invest money if they may not even get exposure because the car didn’t make the race.
      I agree with Kurtis that IF Honda were in NASCAR, they’d likely run the Accord.
      Part of me would love to see Rockingham come back, but the pessimist in me worries about over-saturation in the NC market. Races aren’t cheap to attend, so adding 1 or 2 additional races in the same market splits the potential in person attendance for those that only budget one race a year to go to. Running it for ARCA, CTS or XS makes a little more sense, because it’s less expensive, and it could potentially be partnered with a Cup companion event that is in the same market, like Charlotte, which is about a 90min drive, North Wilkesboro, which is about a 2hr drive, or Darlington, which is a 1hr drive.

    Not exactly an apples to apples comparison but when I was a kid, I spent most of my Saturday nights either watching Hee Haw or sprint cars and stock cars at Riverside Speedway in West Memphis, AR. One night one of the more popular but mid-pack drivers showed up late due to traffic, mechanical issues or XYZ. The promoter said he could not even start shotgun for a heat race and would not be allowed to run at all. Well his fellow competitors weren’t having any of this so they all parked their cars nose to tail on the front stretch and told the promoter, if he ain’t racing, neither are we. They abandoned their cars and walked back to the pits. The promoter eventually gave in and the race went on without further incident. The Saturday night show 45ish years ago at a 1/4 mile dirt track certainly isn’t NASCAR but it was something that has struck with me. Now to NASCAR, they have always ruled with an iron fist all the way back to Big Bill. Drivers and owners that band together and Buck the “man” will be harshly punished. That’s just how it is. I hope they try something just because of its entertainment value.

Take the top 43 drivers and go with it and cut out all the other gimmicks including the stage brakes, NASCAR needs to be worried about keeping it older fan, base and filling seats, especially in the shorter tracks that most of us old school fans like myself grew up on rather than worrying and pandering to 18-year-olds who really don’t care about Call Car culture.

    I think Rockingham does not deserve a Nascar race. The southeast is oversaturated, and many in America really don't have a fair shot. Pacific NW midwest completely deprived. As a Minnesota Nascar fan, i have no shot at seeing in person. A 5 hour drive to 24K Seat Short Track that sold out before I could get tickets. An 8 hour drive to a street race in a crime-ridden city that i can't even afford the over-priced tickets. Next closest is a 9 hour drive to Kansas, which i haven't gotten to do , when most in SE got track within 2-3 hours.
    If anything we need less tracks in the SE. To grow the sport and so other fans like me don't have to drive a million miles to see a cup race. Its a disgrace that they are even thinking of adding the Rock back to the schedule when Bristol Martinsville Richmond Charlotte Atlanta Talladega Daytona Darlington all have two dates, plus North Wilkesboro Homestead-Miami Nashville Superspeedway, each have one, thats half of the schedule and they are thinking of adding the Nashville Fairgrounds.
    This whole Rockingham is a disgrace unless they take away the unneeded multidates in the Southeast. Unfortunately, Nascar lacks common sense and could never do this.

If it took North Wilkesboro 29 years to return to the scene (at the expense of Auto Club), it'll take Rockingham even longer to get back because TexARSE took its date away and it's not going anywhere for next season. I would love for Rockingham to come back. I also don't think its very realistic. However, I do see a potential path. For this to happen, ISC or SMI would have to purchase the track. Upgrades have to be made.
    I am a Darlington fan. I live in a county that borders Darlington (20 Min away). Spring date a Darlington could be used and make the Labor day event that much better again. This kind of would work to my overall perfect schedule. Only a few select tracks have 2 dates. Daytona, Charlotte, Talladega, Bristol, Martinsville. I am not saying this would be cheap and happen overnight but I think we can grow the sport, bring back iconic tracks and expand to new markets with out adding a ton dates to schedule. I mean with the new car being as good as it is a 1.5 mile tracks, I think tracks like Chicagoland, Kentucky could be very viable. Just need the right person to see a big picture of what this could open up.
    Give up a Darlington for Rockingham.
    Give up a Vegas for Kentucky.
    Give up a Phoenix for Iowa.
    Give up a Kansas for Chicagoland.
    Give up a Richmond for Nashville Fair Grounds. I know ISC/SMI issue here, along with city. But if not this the new short track replacing Auto Club Speedway would be viable option at some point
    Look to new city's around the country and NA to see what can we can gain, without problems from the old fans.
    There are a ton of tracks out there without the funds to do cup racing, but a good TV deal and a 3 year commitment over a 6-8 year time frame could work to help some of the tracks join the Cup, Xfinity, and Truck series & give schedule flexibility to change it up a little here and there.

    All of us would love to see The Rock make a comeback. As a North Carolina native we’d all love to see this, but this isn’t the direction the sport is wanting to go. NASCAR wants to bring in a new audience to build the sport up. I mean look at all the tracks they go to that are 250 miles from Charlotte. I hate to say it, but we are living too much in the past and that’s not healthy for the sport.

    Make the charter agreement permanent but make one slight change. Of the 36 charters the team among chartered teams that finishes last that charter will be repossessed and auctioned off ensuring 1 avalible charter every year.

    In a way I see NASCAR'S position on the charter deal. At least as far as the financials goes. They're getting a 40% increase over 10 years. Operating costs are on the rise across the board. Not just for the test but, NASCAR too. If they have an operating cost increase of say around 10% and they give the teams what they want then there's really no increase at all. There has to be compromise from both sides to make it work financially for everyone.
