I would really have a hard time trying to justify $45-55k for an overland side by side.
I mean $44k you can buy a brand new Jeep Willys 4 door which 2024+ has a rear locker. Or $40k for a Tacoma 4x4 trd offroad. You can drive one of those across the country. Drive it to work everyday. Both super capable.
Now some people have more money than you can shake a stick at so will buy one, just doesn’t make a ton of sense to me.

Completely ridiculous. They’ll sell them, financed for 15 years just like boats. People who buy them unfortunately will realize once they’re tired of them that they cannot sell them because no bank will finance for that long. We see it happening now with boats and campers. A lot of these expensive toys are hitting the used market and cannot be sold.
If you finance it for 15 years, you’re a fool if you have to do that, you should not buy it

Go to any Bass Pro, Cabelas or Sportsman/Outdoorsman convention and you see ridiculous toys like ATVs, SXS, Campers, Travel Trailers, Boats etc etc that advertise 180 month loans. The reason they offer them is that there are actually people that sign on the dotted line for those loans. Car loans are now 84 or 96 month loans. Financing a vehicle that gets you to your job is one thing but financing a toy for 15 years is just another level of stupidity from the American people.

$55k?! No thanks. That’s a decent full size rig like a 4Runner or Tacoma with mods. You can drive hundreds of miles in those to the trail, air down, and go off the grid. I wouldn’t drive a glorified SXS like that (if it’s even legal?).
fine, but you cannot go the places this can in a jeep or any other full size. We are happy about that actually, as the trail tampons take 30 mins to clear an obstacle that a sxs can clear in seconds. We will enjoy the less trail traffic. AN street legal in many many states where all the offroad trails are at.

Don’t get me wrong these are sweet machines but the target demographic is wayyy more narrow than I think they realize. I mean how many people really have the disposable income to spend on these machines at this price point.
1200lb capacity of people and gear lol. Most adult Americans weigh 200lb. Put four adults and a cooler your maxed out.
Buy a bronco instead.

In my neck of the woods there have been more gates put in due to SXS complaints than ALL others combined... We are working, much like Colorado, to get these shit boxes and their drivers kicked out of the woods permanently.
I have the exact same concerns and frustrations. I’m glad to hear that Polaris is making an attempt at slowing things down in the SXS arena!
Ridiculous, you are only taking away income from visitors who came to enjoy the trails. You would b better off employing the nessary steps to slow things down by putting the right trial imacts to prevent high speed. That would be steep trail bumps. That attitude you have you wont be able to enjoy the trails either.
They ruined the side by side sport by making it expensive and it getting worse every year, prob dealers will start charging premiun as ford are doing.
At that price point, I’d rather just get a Jeep Wrangler 😂
