    Injury/recovery is a never ending process for anyone who's still fit in their 30's, 40's, 50's...etc. Don't give up. If you believe that exercise makes us stronger not weaker, then you will "figure out" what works for you. Attitude is key. In addition to our two biggest obstacle. Time and motivation.

    I'm in training to run a 5K race, so these tips will come in handy. I had thought that I'd build muscle simply by running, but I don't believe I have and I do feel like I am really weak and I get injured easily, so thanks for the tips!

    I do these exercises Tabata style. The results awesome! I may not have the six- (or four-) pack that I want, but my running has definitely improved.

    The sumo squats with heel lifts are really effective, usually my calves are unusually tight and fail around the 35k mark, but thanks to this I PRed by 9 minutes, breaking the 2:40 mark

    Thanks! this was very helpful. I've been a runner from past 14 months and i recently noticed that i have been feeling a bit weak. now, i get it. But i also wasn't eating properly and stretching, so that's that.

    thanks Honolulu....am new to this fitness stuff,,I've been running 10k a day and cycles 50-70 miles each weekends and started felling pain on my knees. i will try your exercise program and visit your site,,,

    I definately can use this as part of my training. Been preparing for my first semi marathon for a few weeks. Turns out, my legs are like short of strength for the last 5 or km. It's either a matter of endurance or strength.

    @sharoofie It really depends. If your doing some long endurance runs and running is your primary focus, then you'd want to do your strength training routine after. However, if you're doing a light run that isn't too taxing, then it's really a matter of personal preference.

    Not necessarily if your goal is just to prevent running injuries, rather than build muscle.

    the first half seemed to come entirely out of the left speaker...not sure why, and the second half is much quieter but coming through L and R. Not sure why they have these audio problems....?

    These little drills are neat but a better way is to do squats and deadlifts at the gym with real weight.

    @Honolulutrainer thanks...I'm getting there, I've started attempting to incorporate strength training, I've doing some of the myrtl hip routines as well as the routine you have here does it matter if i do it before or after running?

    Quick questions, do flutter kicks workout your iliopsoas, which is a major hip flexor, instead of the abdominals which flexes the stomach not the legs? Also does working the iliopsoas increase inter-abdominal pressure due to temporary hypertrophy due to increased blood flow giving the sensation of a lower ab workout? This question came to mind since a lot of people experience low back pain during/after running due to the iliopsoas's origin from the lumbar vertebrae.

    So I have problems with my knees . If i do some squads for example i will make the muscle holding the knee stronger and it will reduce the chance to get injured . Am I wright ?

    Wouldn`t doing hill reps give you more strengh then doing squats?

    Thanks... your video is informative. Right now I run about 4 times a week (3-5 miles) and go to the gym once. Is that sufficient or should I do strength training more often? I have completed a marathon in the past but now I am looking to target 10Ks/15Ks mostly

    im trying to train for my first 5k and i have 5 weeks fast i know, i dont plan to win just to finish i have 45 mins(thats was the web page says) i can walk run one mile in 20-22 mins, and i can only run barely min when outside) (i live on a dirt road that i run on) can this help and when should i do it?
