#samplebreakdown #futurama #christophertyng - Hudba
It's honestly a bit genius, sampling decades old songs for a song that's supposed to take place in the future.
Because the theme of Futuruma is that no matter how far into the future, most things will repeat or remain the same
Without the past, there is no future
Would have been even more genius if they sampled songs from the future
Kinda like how all the jokes in the newest season are decades old! Genius!
â@@rexyproductions1661its true
You've heard the Amen Break so many times in your life that you don't actually hear it
Amen to that
Phew, no one has said power puff girls yet
@@theoracle7463 cause that's funky drummer not amen

it's almost fully sampled

I feel ashamed for never having noticed the Amen Break behind those chimes.
yeaah saaame đ
Same here godddammmmmmmnnnnn
Shhhh, we all agree to never mention this again
To be fair, the theme song was remade for Bender's Big Score and no longer had the Amen break in it from that point on, so it might have been a while since you heard the version with it.
Was literally thinking the same thing when I first watched this
I love how you visualized it.
Iâm glad you noticed, good visuals are usually unnoticed in videos
Im always notice the visuals and i love it
And I especially loved the ending
@@internetpapaya1454 these days itâs enjoyed and commented on a lot more.
Like a 3-blue 1-brown video! But instead of Linear Algebra, it's how the Futurama Theme was composed!
Almost 7 years later and the Futurama theme is still bangin'
Bangin', slammin', jammin
God itâs a good theme
...7?
@@6884 Yeah it ends up i watched it before it even existed
22, you mean?
I've been watching futurama ever since I was 10 years old and never realized that the theme song used samples
Yes same
Donât feel bad, so have I.
The only thing I know about TV shows sampling is that TV show themes are the ones being sampled, not the other way around.
Well I mean if you were watching it since a young age you wouldn't have lived long enough to know the things that it would have sampled unless you did extensive research when you were a kid into something you had no idea about...
@@PACKERMAN2077Well said
Damn never realised the Rapperâs Delight sample...
Me too...
Surprised me too !
Yess i'm your 666th liked
Im the 667 like yayyy
"Futurama Extended Theme", the original complete theme, is basically an arrangement of all these samples, that means for every samples used there is always a part of the song where only that sample plays, making it reeeeally noticeable. But the complete Futurama theme was only included in Futurama's game for PS2/XBOX as far as I know (maybe also as an extra in DVDs, I don't know) so many Futurama fans don't even know it. But for me... Well, that game's been a giant part of my childhood! So there is absolutely no way i can forget about it :)
Since I've listened to that song sooooo many times in the game, I basically have all the samples perfectly in mind whenever I think to them, as if I'm listening to them again haha.
By the way I also recommend you to listen to it, maybe it will make your childhood memories come back while also exploring brand new parts of the song! :D
Number of episodes: 140
Theme played twice per episode: +140
I watched all of them at least twice: +280
Add all the false starts (seen this episode too many times): +50
Subtract the beatboxing theme episodes: -2
= over 608 times I've heard this without realising it's Amen Break.
I didn't realise until I was humming it to myself in the kitchen a few minutes ago and looked it up. Crazy how that little drum loop has permiated culture.
I listen to too much rap and dance music to have this experience. I envy you.
0:56 the end with the broken screen gag is a really nice touch
That one dude wasnât lying about that drum sample being the most....sampled. đ amazing.
Such a dope one.
Pleasure seeing you here
I love tubular bells
we need more music with them

I bought their vinyl a year ago because it looked cool. Didn't like the music much but now I feel like I need to listen to it again.

The way the information is displayed and showcased in these videos is incredible. I myself practise a whole lot of sampling and I really appreciate this sort of video being out there to help explain the way this technique (and artform!) is used across whole lots of music in very inventive and creative manners. Thanks for taking the time to do these awesome presentations! Cheers!!!
A breakdown of the full version would be pretty cool. There's a few more samples in there, like the guy yelling "what is the future?".
I knew it was pierre henry, when I went tohis concert as a child I thought he was playing his version of the futurama theme song
Holy crap, I never realised it had a sample of Rapper's Delight.
Bro im just going down the line of video samples. These are so damn fire. Great job on the finds and putting them out here for us too see.
You gotta be kidding me. How the hell didn't I know the intro track has a Rapper's Delight sample. This is madness!!
This is really cool, had no idea the theme was made with samples
đź that moment you wonder how could we not notice rapper's delight đź
omg
I love when samples are basically made for each other and when combined become as iconic as the songs from witch they came
Fun fact: Christopher Tyng is also the music producer of the series Suits.
I enjoy this kind of sampling because they took the time to change things and compiled them into something new instead of "hey I like that hook. Lets use that on repeat and nothing else"
Aw shiet, can I somehow give this a double thumbs-up for how it ended?
Make it a triple and you're golden!
Please tell me I'm not the only one who sometimes hears Smells like teen spirit with those bell sounds
Now that you mention it, I can kinda hear it
Famous break, most sampled and underated song. And the drummer that no one knows died homeless.
oh no!
really?
This is sad. RIP. World is cold, be selfish, put yourself firstđ
Dude this channel is a goldmine. It changed the way I see the world of music. I never clicked the subscribe button so quickly!
Wow, The Futurerama themesong has always been on of my favorites. I had no idea it was a collection of samples.
That's raw that this was a beat that was made for this intro theme
The presentation, the conciseness, that moment when it turns into the actual theme, idk, I love this video for a few reasons.
It's like, remembering a really good moment, or watching seeds turn into something beautiful.
Noo wayyy! I did not know the theme was sampled haha đ
These sample breakdowns are the f#$king best thing on the internet!!! KEEP THEM COMING and THANK YOU!!!
this is some of the coolest shit I've seen. I fucking love orignal ideas like this, the concept of breaking down the samples is something people on youtubes already done, but they way you're presenting it is GREAT.
It makes me view the theme in a whole different light.
NEVA KNEW it was sampled! damn futurama really is one of the best shows ever
I love the specific breakdown format of this channel
This was an awesome insight to my favorite show for twenty plus years!
This visualization is 11/10. Keep up the fantastic work!
Christopher Tyng didn't have to go so crazy on Futurama theme songđ
I knew about the PsychĂš Rock sample but this video still made me drop my jaw.
Awesome visualization
Love the ship crashing, good touch
it gets me chills everytime
I love sampling and Iâm blessed to have found your channel đ that was awesome
the POWER of the sample #SaluteTheSample
I luv Futurama so glad u made this đ
This song made me realise I was completely tone deaf, cause I thought the 5th chime (that's down 2 steps) went up, and in looking back I don't even understand how I got that confused
You're not the only one. I really just had to confirm this for myself and couldn't believe that it was true
@@jvcrules I think I've figured out how that happened actually, at least for myself, the melody sounds like the riff to "wild thing" by the Troggs, which I probably heard before I heard the futurama intro. But that's a really specific correlation that I don't think many people have, it's just me.
it confused me too
To me it sounds like there's a 2nd note in the sample chop on that 5th chime that plays an octave down, so the note goes up but sounds lower too
Wow, breaking it down visually like this is super useful. Great content.
I always felt that the bells rang in the same tune as the intro of Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit, but that could just be me
I thought the same too
YES!!!! Me too!!!! Itâs very similar!
Was literally looking for this comment cause I 100% agree
@@lettherebegames8 glad that more people felt the same!
Crazy. I never would've known
this was so cool, thanks for sharing
So I should have been breakdancing to this theme song all this time, awesome, good to know
amazing video and sampling genius. blew my mind.
this intro is so iconic, love that they did a sample breakdown, and the fact that they used samples and the amen break and i never knew until now is crazy
I love it's hip-hop and used samples. So dope.
Wowwww I feel silly for not recognizing the first 2 samples in the theme song, nice job
The first time I watched this, I was singing along to the melody and saying to myself, "this sounds so familiar. where have I heard this?" Once Futurama appeared on the screen I screamed, "oh snap!"
Absolutely amazing series but this is one of my favourites among them
When I was in band back when i was still in school, we had a set of tubular bells/chimes in the band room. I would play the intro on them when I got board.
I love how the last bit of Rapper's Delight is repeated to sync it with the amen break, really makes for a banger beat!!
I have Psyché Rock on Vinyl. The first time I saw Futurama, I thought it was a brilliant use of the sample. Very early electronic music used for a show like that.
thats actually wicked sick
one of the best theme tunes of all time.
Crazy! Never even thought about this theme song sand itâs creation
That is so cool!
Okay ... this blew ma mind and Iâm not even ashamed to admit it !
This is amazing omfg
These are actually the best advertisements ever, great videos
I knew about the amen break but had no idea about the other two! so sick
This is so cool! I wouldnât have guessed just the percussion from rappers delight either
mind blown
Damn, the editing on this video is awesome
I genuinely was surprised despite watching countless episodes of this I never knew the amen break was in this
These videos are epic
beautiful sampling
the ending is awesome
This is awesome
perhaps one of the sickest beats ever produced
I love this
The bells from Psyche Rock were actually inspired by the Fatboy Slim Remix of the song
