    I am 62 years old and have played golf since I was 13, and have had MANY MANY clubs through the years, Still have my Grandad's 1964 hand-built Perssimon woods by Bert Dargie, I still have my Ping eye2 Laminated woods I still take out and play.
    I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to try playing a full set of Hickory shafted clubs with those guys !! Looks like a bunch of fun!!!!!

    Recently bought a mizuno Black turbo II driver i love it. I game it every round now. Not as old as those clubs but still old school

      Correct, they certainly are not 100 years old. And they're heavier and stiffer to enable foozlers to move the ball forward. Doing so is much harder with the old lighter springier clubs which twist due to torque in turn due to faulty technique.

    Gosh I wish an event was around my area in north east Georgia.. I would love to meet tad moore!!! And get a full set of hickory clubs

      Go online and buy them.....Tad will happily sell them to you. I hit the Tad Moore Victor Irons better than I hit new irons. I refuse to play them in a Hickory tournament because they are too good. I use a collection of original crazy clubs for tournaments.

      2023 There's an event at Sewanee in TN. There's also another one in Birmingham. I'm not too far from Sewanee. I haven't hit hickory yet, but like older clubs anyway. I'm going to gear up and do a little practicing if I can locate some affordable antiques that can be restored easily enough.

    The new driver is 3 or 4 inches longer and that is why it hits a bit further. Why they keep comparing old to new with that big of a difference in shaft length is obvious. They want to keep the impression that new is worth paying $500 for one club. Well, it isn't. I buy older clubs, refinish them and I have a great set of 14 clubs for about $30. But then, people just love to throw their money away for "status".

      There's far more in it than just shaft length. I agree that $500 drivers are for suckers. But, there's a middle ground.

    Tad Moore clubs are not 100 year old clubs, they are somewhat styled after some but are designed and built with modern technology which makes them more consistent and easier to score with. You should have tested a real 100 year old club.

    270 yard drive with the hickory? Does this show how much ball tech has increased distance? I believe a 250 yard drive was a BOMB with the old balls. . . if even possible? And why do they go so straight? Well, with no seam around the equator of the golf ball and new dimple patterns even Tiger Woods recently noted how hard it is to get a ball to curve.

    Blah blah blah tech. I don't need tech, don't tech up my hickory. Tuned out when the tech section began. Loving the idea of hickories, still hunting up a few good clubs in my price range.

    So they’re swinging hickory shafted golf clubs but using modern Pro V1 golf balls?

    • @wadepatton2433
      @wadepatton2433 Před rokem

      There are generally two divisions. The pre-1900 using replica old balls and the 1900-1935 division using modern balls. Replica balls are not cheap.

      As I understand it from reading equipment rules: There are two main divisions. The older gear folks are limited to modern replica balls, and the later division (up to 1935) can use modern balls, or replicas.

    That old driver is old but not 100 years. Seems to be from the 30thies or 40thies even if the shaft is older and real hickory.
