My parents are both doctors and my mom is an obstetrician. She said that the medical student in China need 5 years of uni and 3 years of training. But the minimum requirement for a doctor in a good hospital is a master’s degree, so people have to study for another 3 years. Besides, people need time to get the license. Its actually possible. Hong Kong employers have positive bias towards foreigners, so they always pay them higher. Also, there are a lot of secret jobs out here in Hong Kong reserved for Korean speakers and they mostly pay around 25k+. And it is also true that mostly only local firms would low-ball you and of course and only local people will consider them. The real reason though about why locals don’t get paid as high is because they demand less to start with and once your starting salary is set, you will only be getting mostly an increment of 15% for each job-hop rather than your ability.

Guys, when you write your salary write also how many hours in a month you work. Because someone can write a big salary and everybody like: "Wow, cool, you successful man!" But maybe this person works 6 days in week, 12 hours a day😀

Note to self: go study at HKU in the next life for the cuties lol
Hi, I live near HKU, I can tell you that you’re right 😆
@@PatheticTV matter of fact I'm moving to HK some time this year haha I'll go and have a look for myself :D
the data is real, I graduated from HKU and my starting salary was 18k as a coordinator, 10 to 7, five days a week, 2 hour lunch break, no OT, sometimes i can leave early or come in later
Sounds like an ideal work-life balanced time there.
you are a lucky guys!

for the marketing girl's speech, that's really hits me. personally, I was studying in marketing, when i graduated from my graduate school, the salary the girl mentioned still off the roof even you have 5 year experience, BTW, i am in beijing. feel free to share your opinion, I really want know your thoughts!
I have a friend who is working in marketing department of a big retail company in HK. (She had 2 years experiences before she joined this company.) BUT, she just has 15K 😰HKD salary per month. She works very hard. Of course, the job is so tough too. Work until 10pm is an usual life. Her mother always ask her to quit the job. But my friend said, she'd like to have few years experiences in a big company then it'll has a good performance to jump to next company. Finally, she couldn't stand anymore and quited 2 years later. 😮💨
@@kitsky0123 that's so identical from here in beijing( seems every big city kid struggle in this) what I can say is if your friend do not suffer any physical or mental abuse from the hard work. well I'd say she is luck and maybe this could help her to get where she want. ☺BUT the fact here is. some of my friend either got mentally abused(so called workplace PUA) or they got health problem after the "few" year hard work. I just feel so sad of our society right now. 😮💨
